An Improved Route Recovery using Bidirectional Searching Method for Ad hoc Networks (Ad hoc 네트워크에서의 양방향 경로탐색을 이용한 경로복구 개선 방안)

  • Since the ad-hoc network allow nodes to communicate each other without infrastructure system and predefined configuration, it comes into the spotlight that is suitable to ubiquitous society. In ad-hoc network, route recovery mechanism is considered important. Normally route recovery is needed to solve the link failure problem because there is no route maintaining system like a router in ad-hoc networks. In this paper we propose BS-AODV(Bidirectional Searching-AODV) route recovery method. The proposed method is a local repair method that can be applied in all of the network area. Unlike a limited local repair method in AODV. the proposed method adopts the bidirectional searching method where the upstream/downstream nodes can send the route maintenance messages. Restricting the flooding of route request messages, the proposed scheme attempts to minimize the costs of local repair, the performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated through the simulations. In two scenarios which variate the node numbers and node speed, the comparison among the proposed scheme, AODV and AOMDV is shown in terms of the control traffic and data delivery ratio.

  • The failure of network and/or node on which server object is executed is a single point of system failure in the CORBA application. One of the possible ways to overcome such problem is to replicate server objects to several independent nodes. The replicated objects executing same tasks are called object group. In order to provide fault tolerance of server object, this paper proposes and implements new CORBA model that supports the object group based on active replication. The proposed model not only provides interoperability with existing CORBA application but also minimizes additional application interface required to support object group because it uses nop to exchange messages between client and server. And this paper extends IDL structure. Depending to application logic, it makes possible to prevent performance degradation caused by consistency maintenance. At present, this paper supports only active replication. But it can be easily extended to provide warm ancVor cold passive replication without modification of architecture required for active replication.

  • The applications program that running on Operating System has high dependence. Because environment of OS and standard libraries that supports are different. For those reason, Applications that perform the same function should be implemented in accordance with the new operating system. This results in a temporal and economic waste not only in subsequent maintenance of application but also in management. Even though, to solve this problem Cygwin or MinGW has been distributed, they do not support the portability of the application but provide a virtual environment and the tool. Therefore, in this paper, we design the wrapper format interface middleware using the POSIX and standard C library to support the application performing the same function on virtual environment and without code modification. The middleware can be selectively loading the API that is classified by basic and extend. This allows to managing the application size efficiently. Also, perform the comparative experiments and performance evaluation for application, on equipped with the Interface Middleware Linux, Unix, Windows and on Cygwin.

Rule Acquisition Using Ontology Based on Graph Search (그래프 탐색을 이용한 웹으로부터의 온톨로지 기반 규칙습득)

  • To enhance the rule-based reasoning capability of Semantic Web, the XRML (eXtensible Rule Markup Language) approach embraces the meta-information necessary for the extraction of explicit rules from Web pages and its maintenance. To effectuate the automatic identification of rules from unstructured texts, this research develops a framework of using rule ontology. The ontology can be acquired from a similar site first, and then can be used for multiple sites in the same domain. The procedure of ontology-based rule identification is regarded as a graph search problem with incomplete nodes, and an A* algorithm is devised to solve the problem. The procedure is demonstrated with the domain of shipping rates and return policy comparison portal, which needs rule based reasoning capability to answer the customer's inquiries. An example ontology is created from Amazon.com, and is applied to the many online retailers in the same domain. The experimental result shows a high performance of this approach.

  • Currently most of leak detection monitoring systems use digital maps with paying royalties, and this increases the cost of system construction and financial burdens on local self-governing bodies that manage such systems. Moreover, they have inefficiencies in repair and maintenance, functional expansion, and compatibility with other systems. Thus, this study developed a waterworks pipe network monitoring system that pursues low cost and high efficiency using general-purpose maps on the Internet such as google maps. As this system uses highly compatible free maps, it costs less in construction and its hardware requirements are lower than existing systems, and consequently, overall monitoring performance is enhanced and the cost of construction goes down sharply. This study also proposed a method for pipeline DB construction, which can be started together with the construction of the monitoring system, in order to improve the field applicability of the system.

  • An auxiliary real-time train communications system among drivers, train-traffic controllers and field workers is necessary to share hazard information (i.e. rockfall detection, track maintenance) in low visibility zones (long tunnels and steep curved track). To develop the appropriate communication system, this paper proposes a new way of power line communication using the rail track (Rail - PLC), which has little noise and distortion of attenuation. Therefore, it is important to measure the impedance of the rail and to apply an impedance matching technique to increase the transmission characteristic of the Rail - PLC. This study would evaluate the reflection and the transmission characteristics of the rail using a network analyzer and an impedance matching transformer. The suitable impedance matching ratio was 1:3.28 from the result of back-to-back testing. The results confirmed that the transformer can improve the performance of the transmission signal in Rail - PLC using an impedance matching technique.

Fundamental Study of Alkali-Activated Concrete Properties based on Modified Slag (개질 슬래그 기반 알칼리 활성 콘크리트의 기본 물성 연구)

  • PURPOSES : This study set out to investigate the fundamental properties of alkali-activated concrete (AAC) using modified slag as the pavement maintenance material. METHODS: The material properties of modified slag based alkali-activated concrete (MSAAC) were analyzed and evaluated against those of alkali-activated slag concrete (AASC). Several mix formulations were considered, including one MSACC and four AASCs. The main variables considered in the study were slump, air content, compressive strength, rapid chloride permeability test, scaling resistance, freeze-thaw test, XRD, SEM, and EDS. RESULTS: MSAAC exhibits a compressive strength in excess of 21 MPa six hours after curing. Also, the charge passed of the MSACC was found to be less than 2000 coulombs after seven days and about 1000 coulombs after 28 days. The weight loss determined from a scaling test did not exceed $1kg/cm^2$ in the case of the MSACC, but that of the AASCs had already exceeded $1kg/cm^2$ at the 10th cycle. Based on the results of the freeze-thaw test, the relative dynamic modulus of every mix was found to be in excess of 90%. An energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS) analysis found that the weight rate percentage of the calcium and aluminum in the MSAAC mix is twice that of the AASC mixes. CONCLUSIONS : It was found that the MSAAC mix exhibits significantly better performance than AASC mixes, based on various fundamental properties.

A Kinematics Analysis of Handstand of University Students Majoring in Physical Education (사범계 체육전공 대학생 물구나무서기 동작의 운동학적 분석)

  • The purpose of the study is to search for the possibility of the application of kinematics analysis to physical education at schools and expand its scope of application. This study chose 9 college students majoring in physical education and classified them into type A group who can make the straight, vertical handstand, type B group whose waist is bent, type C group who cannot handstand completely. The center of mass, distance between hand and leg, and the angle and angular velocity of each joint were obtained. The result of this study is this. 1. The time for CM showed 6:4 for A group and 5:5 for B and C groups. The distance between hand and foot in the event 3 was 44% of the height for A group, and 41% for B and C groups. A Group showed the higher CM positional significant difference, it was vertically direction below the hip joint at front. For significant difference of the B Group showed horizontal and vertical velocity of the CM, the highest vertical was obtained in phase 3. The difference of angle of shoulder join in the flexion/extension was showed gradually extension event 2 and the height angular velocity was at phase 3 in the A group. 2 The analysis of the handstand motion revealed that the phase 3, but the maintenance of posture start part the handstand is also very important. Through these results, this study confirmed that the time for phase of the CM, horizontal and vertical positions, velocity, the distance between hands and foot, and the difference of the angle and angular velocity of hip joint and shoulder joint can be set as the variables of analysis. It was also definite cause that the handstand motions of college students majoring in physical education had many difference in performance.

Analysis on a Dynamic Model with One Dimension in Water Transportation of PEM Fuel Cell (PEM연료전지의 수분전달에 있어서 1차원 해석을 수행한 동적모델에 관한 연구)

  • Water balance has a significant impact on the overall fuel cell performance. Maintenance of proper water management should provide an adequate membrane hydration and avoidance of water flooding in the catalyst layer and gas diffusion layer. Considering the important of advanced water management in PEM fuel cell, this study proposes a simple one dimensional water transportation model of PEM fuel cell for use in a dynamic condition. The model has been created by assumption that the output is the water liquid saturation difference. The liquid saturation change is the total difference between the additional water and the removal water on the system. The water addition is obtained from fuel cell reaction and the electro osmotic drag. The water removal is obtained from capillary transport and evaporation process. The result shows that the capillary water transport of low temperature fuel cell is high because the evaporation rate is low.

Evaluation of Catchbasin for Increasing Interception Capability of Stormwater Runoff (강우유출수 차집능력 증대형 빗물받이의 성능 평가)

  • It is not cost effective to raise the density of catch basins in preparation for heavy rainfall in terms of construction and maintenance. Our researchers have developed the new catch basin for increasing interception capacity of runoff with internal filtration structure. To compare interception capacity of an existing catch basin with the invented catch basin, a hydraulic experiment device with 4% of road gradients and 0.2% of road gradients was constructed. For runoff conditions of 4.4 l/s, 6.7 l/s and 10.4 l/s, capability of runoff and separation capability of debris (sand and leaves) were evaluated. As the main experimental results, the effectiveness of the developed catch basin has been verified with an increase in interception rate of approximately 22% for the runoff of 6.7 l/s as heavy rainfall. However, the results of invented catch basin showed only 4.5% of settlement rate of debris regarding sand. Therefore, the authors proposed an improved tilted screen structure additionally. After reviewing the performance of improved catch basin, application of the invented catch basin is expected to drain runoff effectively when it is applied to the faulty road drainage section.
