  • The purpose of this study is to examine whether the visual materials presented in the science textbooks coincide with those visual materials that are preferred the most by students. After analyzing the visual materials presented in the unit "Molecular Motion and Change of State" of science textbooks for the first grade of middle school, questionnaires by teaching-learning process are made. Thereafter, students are requested to select those types of visual materials that were preferred by them by process and describe their reasons for the selection. According to the results of the survey of students' perception, students at the high science achievement level prefer those visual materials that were presented conceptually and implicatively, while students at the low science achievement level prefer concrete and detailed visual materials. Except for the learning motivation process, the proportion of non-preferred visual materials is higher in the remaining processes and those visual materials that were presented in the science textbooks are much different from those visual materials that were preferred by students.

Similar to U.S. policies, the Korea government enforces the Special Act on Children's Food Safety and Nutrition for provision of nutritional labeling in chain restaurants. Considering the importance of dining services for college students and their interests in health, this study examined college students' perception toward nutrition information provided by university dining services. A survey was conducted for university students. Students' recognition of nutrition information for university dining services was lower than recognition of nutrition information for commercial food services. The most common reason cited by students for considering nutrition information of university dining services was customer rights, followed by health maintenance. Students showed a high tendency to use nutrition information of university dining services. College students' motivation for knowing nutrition information of university dining services included health and value interests. Students' knowledge of nutrition had a positive effect on their intention to know nutrition information. The findings of this study offer university administrators and contract food service management companies directions for developing menu labeling for university dining services.

  • The purpose of this study wasto analyze the factors that enhance their learning achievement in a fieldtrip environment. For this academic goal, we analyzed a pattern of fieldtrip-related perception and attitudes of 19 science-talented students who participated in the 2007 KESO winter school. As for the perception type, the result of analysis showed that the science-talented students understood a fieldtrip as an experimental inquiry from an inquiry perspective, and that their understanding about a fieldtrip was based on anthropocentrism, positivism and instrumentalism from a science philosophy perspective. Regarding theattitudes type, the result revealed that the purpose of the winter school was mainly to learn knowledge in earth science, and that there was a significant tendency for the participating students to become a future scientist more eagerly than their parents expected. Students' fieldtrip-related academic self-concept was mostly positive while the participants experienced both positive and negative emotions.

The survey was performed on 150 students in four universities in B metropolitan city. The data was collected from July 30 to August 13, 2019. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA Pearson's correlation coefficient with the SPSS/WIN 26.0 program. The mean of perception on hospice score was 3.06 out of 4, of the attitude toward death, 'neutral acceptance', 'fear of death', 'death avoidance', 'approach acceptance', and 'escape acceptance' had average scores of 5.31, 3.77, 3.56, 3.15, and 3.06, respectively. There were significant differences in perception on hospice according to gender, major, and experience of hospice-related education and in attitude toward death according to gender, major, religion, subjective health status, experience of hospice-related education. The relationship between perception on hospice and neutral acceptance showed a significant positive correlation, and fear of death and death avoidance showed a significant negative correlation. Therefore, we need consider these variables to develop a hospice or death-related education program to enhance university students' attitudes to death and their perception of hospice.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of knowledge and risk perception of coronavirus disease-2019 on preventive health behavior among nursing students. The survey participants were 291 students in A city. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires between August 1 and 20, 2020. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression in SPSS ver. 18.0. Knowledge of COVID-19 was significantly dependent on age and school records. Risk perceptions were significantly dependent on educational grades. Age, health status, knowledge, and risk perception had significant effects on preventive health behavior, which was found to be positively correlated with knowledge and risk perception. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that age significantly predicted preventive health behavior (β=.188, p<.01), health status (β=-.245, p<.001), knowledge (β=.254, p<.001), and risk perception (β=.191, p<.001) that it accounted for 18.9% (F=17.904, p<.001) of the variance. An educational program is required to enhance the preventive health behavior of nursing students in a background of COVID-2019 that considers student age, health level, knowledge, and perception of risk.
