This study aims to explore the combinations of services and technologies for academic libraries to use based on librarians' perception and establish effective service strategies accordingly. The literature review facilitated an understanding of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies impacting the libraries. We discovered how technologies are transforming library services. We analyzed the academic library services to categorize their service structure. The survey revealed the necessity of introducing technology for each service category and the appropriate automation levels of services based on the perception of librarians. The survey results identified nine prioritized combinations of academic library services and technologies. Based on the analysis, we proposed the service-technology strategies for each category. This study has significance in exploring the potential for introducing and utilizing new technologies to enhance academic library services and exploring ways to combine services and technologies based on the common opinion of librarians.

Air Force library performs the functions of a library with respect to a specific group of Air Force. However, the development of Air Force library is beginning step, its facilities and services are not meet expectations. The analysis of operating status for entire Air Force libraries is so far not attempted. Focusing on this point, this study analysed for the first time evaluation regarding the overall operating status and activation of Air Force libraries at the levels of wing, group and squadron. The questionnaire was consisted of a total of 45 questions. The questionnaire was distributed to 101 Air Force libraries registered in currently August 2014. I was received the reply from 81 out of 101 Air Force libraries, but the responses of 4 libraries were poor, and analyzed the total 77 library responses excluding them. As the results of the analysis, this paper identified operational status and perception of activation of Air Force libraries as a whole, and pointed out the problems that have been identified regarding the operation of these libraries. Furthermore, this paper suggested concretely activation plan for the development of Air Force libraries.

This paper investigates the impact of the School Library Revitalization Project of the Daegu Metropolitan City. The Project started in 2003, and by 2009 it revitalized 374 school libraries or 86% of all school libraries in Daegu. Utilizing statistical analysis and questionnaires, this research is divided into two parts. Part 1 analyzes the progress of annual budgets, facilities, collection, personnel, and the circulation data of the libraries. The other part surveys the following: the effects and the satisfaction level of the Project; the teacher's perception of the library's functions; the qualification of the libraries' personnel; the initiatives for developing the library, policy and future plans of the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education for the libraries. Three groups participated in the survey: principals, class teachers, and teacher librarians.

Library marketing receives an attention as one of the methods to vitalize library use and to improve the value of libraries. In this study, librarians' perceptions of library marketing and PR were surveyed. The study also examined various library marketing and PRs that are practiced by special libraries via their web sites. Research library web sites were analyzed using a analytic tool that is composed of four categories and 19 sub categories, which is derived from the previous literature. The four major categories include visibility, fundraising, & networking, information, and communication. The findings of the study offer some suggestions for Internet marketing strategies that can be applicable to digital libraries.

This study investigates the participants' perception and satisfaction score for culture and education programs operating in public libraries and culture & art centers in Daegu Metropolitan City. Attendees of the public libraries' programs have higher overall satisfaction, customer loyalty on the contents of the program and lecturers than those of the culture & art centers' programs. Attendees of the culture & art centers' programs rated staff supports and services, facilities and educational equipments higher than those in the public libraries' programs. This study calculates the LCSI score in public libraries(78.02) and culture & art centers(77.22).

The purpose of this study is to verify effects between the place attachment and the place value in public libraries; and also to identify whether frequency and purpose of usage, length of residence, and website use play a moderating role in the influential relationship between users' place attachment and the perception of place value for public libraries. Users' place dependence affected the library's value positively(+) due to moderating effect of usage frequency of the library and the users' length of residence. In order to estimate the moderating effect by purpose of use, the groups were divided by purpose of library use and the relationship between place attachment and place value by groups were analyzed. However, website usage bore no effect on users' place attachment or perception of place value to their local library. This study showed that place attachment as an affective indicator on users is very useful variable to explain the value of libraries as a social and cultural place.

The study aims to investigate the perception of RDA by domestic university library librarians, the current status and plan of RDA application in university libraries, and propose considerations for establishing RDA in domestic university libraries. Through literature review, questionnaire items were prepared to investigate librarians' perception of RDA and the status of RDA in university libraries, and the application status of cataloging rules and education status of cataloging rules in Korea were investigated. Based on the results of the survey, the conversion of the cataloging rules from AACR2 to RDA requires expansion of RDA education and development of curriculum for librarians, and efforts and support such as preparing RDA format and application guidelines at the library level. At the level of national institutions such as the National Library of Korea, implications such as the necessity of enacting RDA application guidelines were presented.

The purpose of this study was to provide basic information necessary for establishing library development plan and service direction by comparing and analyzing the perception of librarian and user's public library. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted with 270 librarians and 820 public users of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Public Libraries regarding the current environment of the library, the role and status of the future library, and the library policy. The results showed librarians viewed the long history and accumulated information resources as strengths, while users had the highest satisfaction with human resources. As for the role of the public library and its future status, both librarians and users perceived reading and education as more important, confirming that the two groups had common expectations for public libraries. Yet the two groups had different perceptions about the policy for enhancing future library roles. Librarians suggested the needs for the improvement of old facilities and continuing education for librarians, users indicated the collections and enlargement of reading room as more important, which suggested the library policy development considering the difference of the perceptions between the two groups.

The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for implementing library collaborative instruction (LCI) through investigating the effects of high school teachers' perceptions and experiences of school libraries on the recognition of LCI. To accomplish it, a questrionnaire survey of 198 teachers in 14 high schools in Seoul was conducted. As a result, teachers' perceptions of school libraries and school library experience had significant effects on the their willingness to implement LCI, which consisted of educational effect(EE), necessity and implementation plan(IP). In short, teachers' perception of school libraries influenced most variables in EE and did not influence necessity. All independent variables had significant effects on IP. This can be interpreted as that teachers recognize the need of LCI, but the perception of EE is influenced by conveying tool for the knowledge of LCI, such as education, promotion, and experience.

This study investigated organizational changes in technical services of university libraries and analysed librarians' perception on the changes of technical service department by the survey to 32 technical service librarians. It also identified several factors that have changed work environment of technical departments such as the shared cataloging and outsourcing, and electronic resources in various formats and creation of metadata for these resources. Most librarians agreed that university libraries have to foster technical librarians' professioanal development to cope with emerging changes of technical services. They also recognized that the integration of traditional cataloging and metadata management is an important issue of orgranizational changes. Contrary to librarians' perception, technical service librarians were not fully awared of the procedure of metadata related works in other departments. Furthermore metadata creation and management were also conducted in several departments of libraries without proper control.
