Influence on Health Promotion Behavior among Government-funded Research Institute's Employee according to Perceptive Health Status and Social Support (정부출연 연구기관 종사자의 지각된 건강상태와 사회적 지지가 건강증진행위 실천에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among perceived health status and social support to identify the influencing factors of health promotion behavior in government-funded research institute's employee. Methods: The participants were 222 employees in three government-funded research institute. Questionnaires were used to measure the levels of the perceived health status, social support and health promotion behavior. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, multiple regression, and the IBM SPSS/WIN 19.0 program. Results: The predicting factors for health promotion behavior were age, smoking, perceived health status and social support. The variables explained the health promotion behavior by 34.3%. Conclusion: A survey of the various influencing factors of health promotion behavior will be required and social support system for government-funded research institute's employee is needed.

The Leisure Type, Health Status, Self-esteem, and Social Support of the Elderly Living Alone (일부 지역사회 독거노인의 여가활동유형과 건강상태, 자아존중감, 사회적지지와의 관계 연구)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the conditions of the leisure type, health status, self-esteem, and social support of the elderly living alone. Method: The subjects were 189 elderly. The instrument was a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: The frequency of the leisure types of the elderly living alone was in the order of culture, rest, social activity and sports. The following factors showed a statistically significant relation: gender, education, religion and marital status with leisure type; age, economic status, job and leisure type with perceived health status; education, economic status and religion with self-esteem; and economic status, marital status and religion with social support. There was a negative correlation between ADL and both perceived health status, and self-esteem, but positive correlations between self-esteem and perceived health status, and between social support and both perceived health status and self-esteem. Conclusion: To maintain the quality of life of the elderly living alone, this study suggests that providing various leisure activities could raise self-esteem, and thereby complement for any deficiencies in family and social support.

Adolescents' Social Network and their Self-Perceived Competence (청소년의 사회적 관계망과 역량지각)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of adolescents'social network and their self-perceived competence. In this study 207 seventh and ninth grade adolescents completed Social Network of Relationships Inventory(NRI) and Self-Perception Profile For Children(SPPC). The data were analyzed by Frequencies, Percentiles, t-test, Cronbach's $\alpha$, Pearson's correlation. Major findings were as follows: 1) Social network of relationships with various social agents made different contributions to the prediction of adolescents'self-perceived competence. 2) In social network of relationships, boys perceived significantly higher than girls for the social support from teacher. In Competence, boys perceived significantly higher than girls for the social acceptance and athletic competence. 3) In social network of relationships, the seventh grader perceived significantly higher than the ninth grader for the social support from mother, father and teacher. In scholastic competence, athletic competence, physical appearance and global self-worth, the seventh grader perceived significantly higher than the ninth grader.

Impact of After-School Education Programs on the Perceived Social Support, Self-Esteem and Behavioral Problems of Children from Broken Families (방과 후 교육 프로그램이 결손가정아동의 지각된 사회적지지, 자아존중감, 행동문제에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was to examine whether there were any differences in perceived social support, self-esteem and behavioral problems between children from broken families who participated in after-school education programs and others from broken families. Method: The subjects in this study were 45 children from dispersed families who were housed in a social-welfare agency in the city of Daejeon. Out of them, 22 children were grouped into an after-school educated group, and the others were selected as a uneducated group. SPSS program was used to analyze the collected data, and statistical data on real number and percentage were obtained. Besides, $x^2$-test and T-test were employed as well. Result: The major findings of the study were as follows: First, the perceived social support intergroup gap between the after-school educated group and uneducated group was not statistically significant. Second, the self-esteem intergroup gap was statistically significant(p<.01). Third, the delinquent behavior intergroup gap was statistically significant (p<.05). Fourth, as for correlational relationship among their perceived social support, self-esteem and behavioral problems, perceived social support has a positive correlation to self-esteem in the educated group(r=0.62, p<.01), and self-esteem was negatively correlated to internalizing problems in that group(r=-0.59, p<.01). The correlation of those factors was statistically significant. Conclusion: It has been confirmed that the after-school education program of broken familie child is very important in the healthy development of the children.

The Effect of Covert Narcissism of Nursing Students on Nursing Professionalism : Mediating effect of Perceived Social Support and Interpersonal Competence (간호대학생의 내현적 자기애가 간호전문직관에 미치는 영향 : 지각된 사회적 지지와 대인관계능력의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of perceived social support and interpersonal competence on the effects of covert narcissism on nursing professionalism of nursing students. For this purpose, 375 nursing students from three colleges in J province were sampled for convenience. The result of this study were as follows: First, the fix indexed of causal model among covert narcissism, nursing professionalism, perceived social support and interpersonal competence were identified suitably. Second, covert narcissism of nursing students directly affected interpersonal competence and perceived social support, which was statistically significant. Third, interpersonal competence showed mediating effects in relationship between covert narcissism and nursing professionalism. Fourth, the interpersonal competence of nursing students directly affected perceived social support and nursing professionalism. Based on the results of the research, it is necessary to develop an intervention program that can enhance interpersonal competence in order to strengthen nursing professionalism of nursing students.

  • This research purposed to the conceptual model with integrates the expanded task technology fit theory(TTF) and technical acceptance model(TAM) for the effect of the motivational factor of the consumer characteristics in the used the fashion mobile commerce. To fulfill the study objectives, a total of 432 questionnaires were conducted to the customers with first-hand experience with merchandise in mobile commerce. The judgement sampling method was employed on sample population ages from 20s to 30s over two month period. Based on the results of the above-mentioned path analysis, The result showed that First, the utilization experience was adopted as the have the notes effect in the and information acquisition fit, support fit, quality fit, perceived ease of use. and the innovativeness was adopted as the have the notes effect in the information support fit, perceived trust, perceived ease of use. and the self-efficacy was adopted as the have the notes effect in the and information quality fit, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use. Second, the information acquisition fit, support fit were adopted as the have the notes effect in the perceived trust, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use. and the information quality fit was adopted as the have the notes effect in the perceived trust, perceived usefulness. Third, the appeared similar effect which considers from all relationships such as perceived trust, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, acceptance attitude and purchase intention.

The Relationship between the Characteristics of Social Support and Post-Stroke Depression (사회적 지지의 특성에 따른 뇌졸중 환자의 우울)

  • The effect s of social support on post-stroke depression were investigated. Social support was classified into three categories : primary caregiver's, significant other's, and professional support. And primary caregiver's and significant other's support were divided into their relation, living state (which means they living together or not), frequency which they met at, and perceived satisfaction about the support, respectively. Professional support was divided into number of professionals who take care of, frequency they met at, and perceived satisfaction. The subjects were 254 stroke patients who had been discharged and were taken follow-up care at the out patient department. The depression was measured using CES-D. Out of the primary caregiver's support, only relation and perceived satisfaction were identified to affect the post-stroke depression. The patients who primarily their spouse takes care of were less depressed than those who their adult children take care of. None of the significant other's support affects the post-stroke depression. Only perceived satisfaction of the professional support was found to affect the post-stroke depression. So it was found that the quality, not the amount, of care was important to post-stroke depression. These results also support the claim that the facilities and teaching programs for primary caregivers are necessary.

Protective Factors of School-Aged Children's Adjustment to Parental Divorce from Low Income Families (저소득층 이혼 가족 아동의 적응에 있어 보호요인 탐색 : 아동의 대처 전략, 부모 양육 유형, 부모의 스트레스, 사회적 지지)

  • This study explored adjustment of school-aged children from low-income divorced families. Specifically, protective factors for children's self-perceived competence and behavior problems were investigated with children's coping strategies, perceived social support, parents' childrearing style, and parental stress. Subjects of this study were 126 children of 4 to 6 grade and their custodial parents(38 fathers, 88 mothers) from divorced families. Children's self-perceived competence and behavior problems were not different neither by children's sex nor custodial parent's sex. When children used more positive and less negative coping strategies, and when parents experienced less childrearing stress, children perceived themselves to be more competent. Similarly, when children used more positive and less negative coping strategies, received more social support, they perceived themselves to be more adequate. Children whose parents had high levels of childrearing stress showed more internalized and externalized behavior problems. Furthermore, children who perceived less supports from peers showed more behavior problems.

Posttraumatic Growth and Social Support in Turkish Patients with Cancer

  • Posttraumatic growth (PTG) is the experience of positive change that occurs as a result of the struggle with highly challenging life crises. The need to understand PTG in relation to actual changes in an individual's life has recently been raised. Little is known about the role of social support in the experience of positive outcomes. The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of perceived social support in enhancing PTG in cancer patients. This study involved 105 cancer patients. The data were collected using a questionnaire that determined the socio-demographic features, posttraumatic growth inventory (PTGI) and perceived social support. Participants reported relatively high levels of PTG and social support. Total perceived social support, support from family, and friends were significantly positive associated with the development of PTG among cancer patients. Accordingly, the social surroundings of the patient should be informed about the importance of social support and how it helps the patient; they should be made aware of necessity of social support.

A Structural Analysis of School-aged Children's Suicide Ideation and Related Variables (학령기 아동의 자살생각과 관련변인들 간의 관계 구조분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationships school-aged children and related variables. For this study, the respondents were 704 children in elementary schools in the areas of Gyeongsan-Si and Daegu-Si. The questionnaires and psychological tests used in this study surveyed the following concepts: suicide ideation, social support, self-esteem and the scale of depression. The collected data were analyzed with AMOS 19.0, a statistical program for structural equation modeling, to estimate the hypothesized structural equation model. The results were as follows: First, self-esteem, - and depression as perceived by children were found to affect their suicide ideation directly. Second, parental support and teacher support as perceived by children were found to affect children's depression directly. Third, parental support, teacher support, and the support of friend's as perceived by children were found to affect-children's self-esteem directly. Last, parental support and, teacher's support did not show direct effect on children's suicide ideation, though these factors had an indirect effect on suicide ideation through the children's self-esteem and depression. Finally, teacher's support did not direct effectly children's suicide ideation, whereas it had an having indirect effect on suicide ideation through the children's self-esteem.
