  • This study aims to propose improvement plans and directions of existing policies to build a Barrier-Free city for the socially underprivileged. We conducted correlation analysis and T-test based on the results of a survey of the general public including the socially underprivileged to understand how their satisfaction with the use of facilities close to their daily lives, such as housing, sales·business facilities, affects their happiness. The results are as follows: First of all, the socially underprivileged experienced discomfort and barriers in urban life more than the privileged, and there was a negative(-) correlation between the degree of discomfort and barrier that the socially underprivileged experienced and happiness in urban life. Second, as a result of analyzing the difference in satisfaction with the life·welfare·leisure environment indicators, the satisfaction with the life environment showed a significant difference between the socially underprivileged and the privileged, and it was found that satisfaction in the life environment had the greatest effect on happiness to the socially underprivileged. We examined the current status and the spatial distribution of BF-certified facilities, one of the representative policies for the socially underprivileged to support their urban life without any obstacles, based on the above outcome, and most certified facilities were concentrated in welfare environment. In addition, we used ArcGIS to analyze that BF-certified facilities have been being supplied to people who really need them and saw that the spatial distribution of the socially underprivileged (elderly, children, and infant) and the distribution of BF certification facilities were somewhat consistent, but were intensively supplied to urban areas.

  • Purposes: The convenience of smartphones have lead to people's overdependence on devices, which may cause obstacles in daily life. It is useful to manage smartphone overdependence by using mobile health applications. We aimed to investigate the acceptance of mobile health applications designed to help in the management of smartphone overdependence. Methodology/Approach: We developed the extended model based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2. The modified model had six hypotheses with six variables: result demonstrability, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, perceived risk, and behavioral intention to use. We randomly included 425 smartphone users in an online survey in 2020. A structural equation model was used to estimate the significance of the path coefficients. Findings: Performance expectancy and social influence had a very strong direct positive association with behavioral intention to use. Result demonstrability had a direct positive association with performance expectancy. Perceived risk had a strong direct negative association with performance expectancy. Performance expectancy and social influence were the main factors directly influencing the acceptance of mobile health applications for the management of smartphone overdependence. Practical Implications: We demonstrated smartphone users' acceptance of mobile health applications for smartphone overdependence management. Based on these results, we could develop mobile health applications more effectively.

  • The new word for person designation is frequently used and spread in daily life. It reflects the new lifestyle or cultural phenomenon of the society. This study compared and analyzed the social and cultural phenomena based on the new words for person designation that emerged in Korea and China in 2017 and 2018. This study divided the words into three areas: personal life, family life, and work life and adopted qualitative analysis and control analysis. In Korea, various lifestyles pursuing happiness have emerged, and lots of consumers have sought reasonable and economical consumption. On the other hand, intemperate shopping has become an issue in China. Many korean single-person households were unmarried. Many chinese single-person households have been divorced. In China, Divorce due to urbanizationn increased rapidly. In Korea, many couples divorced after their children's independence. Young Koreans often relied on their parents even after marriage. Korean elders tended to be poor and marginalized. There was an early study abroad craze in China. Young people in Korea and China suffered from unemployment. After employment, they prepared to change jobs or retire. In future studies, studying Korean class plans on the new words for person designation, after reinforcing the latest word data, will help Chinese learners to understand Korean society and culture.

  • In contemporary society, digital media has become an integral part of daily life that shapes how people interact with the world around them. This phenomenon has also influenced religious activities and practices. Studies on digital religion and religious practices among digital natives in the Western world have indicated that traditional religious practices are on the decline. Instead, more accessible and flexible forms of religious activities and beliefs are emerging. Given this context, it is important to investigate whether similar trends are occurring in Korea. This study aims to explore the religious activities and expressions of Korean individuals in the online environment. Specifically, the study focuses on four main areas: ①the online religious activities of established religions such as Protestantism, Buddhism, and Catholicism; ②the online religious activities related to divination belief systems such as the Four Pillars of Destiny (四柱 saju) and Tarot; ③online holy sites and wish comments or chats; and ④popular religious neologisms such as jileumshin (지름神 a god with the power to justify consumption) and gatsaeng (갓[God]生 one's best life). Through this review, it can be ascertained that religious ideas and practices are restricted by the attributes of digital media. This implies that the emergence of simplistic forms of religious ideas and activities is associated with the features of digital media and the consumption of digital content.

  • This research, with the participants of the female elderly using a home-visit bath among long-term care services, made an in-depth analysis of what they experience while getting a home-visit bath. We conducted in-depth interviews with 8 elderly people. According to the result, the female elderly experienced the absence of a caregiver, difficulty in carrying out daily life due to physical diseases, getting what they need by themselves, getting comfortable in body and mind, accepting their given situation though feeling shame at getting a bath, and expressing their desires. In addition, they had a close relationship with a care helper. On the basis of the results, a systematic training system which could intensify the professionalism of care helpers was suggested. For the enhancement of the elderly's emotional stability in a long-term care, an integrated case management system was also suggested, which supports the family by organizing an integrated network by region between a long-term care service, home-visit care service, welfare center, and the National Health Insurance Corporation.

  • Online communities have become substantial aspects of people's daily lives. However, only a few communities succeed and attract the majority of users, whereas the vast majority struggle for survival. When various communities coexist, important factors should be identified and examined to maintain attraction and achieve success. The concept of coexistence as been extensively explored in organizational ecology literature. However, given the similarities and differences between online communities and traditional organizations, the direct application of organizational theories to online contexts should be cautiously explored. In this study, we follow the roadmap proposed by Davis et al. (2007) in conducting agent-based modeling and simulation study to develop a novel theory based on the previous literature. In the case of two coexisting communities, we find that community size and participation costs can significantly affect the development of a community. A large community can attract a high number of active members who frequently log in. By contrast, low participation costs can encourage the reading and posting behaviors of members. We also observe the important influence of the distribution of interests on the topic trends of communities. A community composed of a population that focuses on only one topic can quickly converge on the topic regardless of whether the initial topic is broad or focused. This simulation model provides theoretical implications to literature and practical guidance to operators of online communities.

  • To assess the food intake and diet quality of middle school students who live in Kangneung area, a dietary survey using 3-day food record was conducted with 226 subjects. Seventy five percent of total food intake was in the form of plant foods and the rest in the form of animal food. Diet qualify was assessed by food group pattern, dietary diversity score (DDS), and dietary variety score (DVS). When counting the major food groups consumed, 53% of subjects had a DDS of 3 and 35% of subjects had a DDS of 4. When investigating the consumption pattern of the major five food groups, only 10.2% of subjects consumed foods from all five groups. The groups most frequently missed were dairy products (73.0%) and fruits (71.7%). On average, subjects habitually consumed 22.6 different foods daily, with the mean score of diet variety for males (22.1) being significantly lower than for females (22.9). Correlation coefficients between nutrient adequacy ratio (NAR) and DVS ranged from r=0.40 for vitamin B$_1$to r=0.61 for phosphorus. NAR also improved as the number of foods or food groups consumed increased (p<0.001). Associations between the NAR and high level of DVS was more positive than those between the NAR with DDS. When assessing the dietary quality of subjects using DDS and DVS, many people appeared not to have a desirable food intake. Therefore, to lead them to have nutritionally balanced diet, educating students and their parents on nutrients and suggesting guidelines for a desirable diet is considered to be essential so that they can intake from all of major food groups and have various foods in their diet.

  • These days, consumers have increasingly preferred to digital real-time streamlining and downloading to listen to music because this is convenient and affordable for the consumers. Accordingly, sales of music in compact disk formats have steadily declined. In this regards, online digital music has become a new communication channel to listen musics, where digital files can be delivered over various online networks to people's computing devices. The majority of online digital music distributors has Music Recommender Systems for sales of digital music on their websites. Music Recommender Systems are parts of information filtering systems that provide the ratings or preferences that users give to music. Korean online digital music distributors have Music Recommender Systems. But those online music distributors didn't provide any rules or clear procedures that recommend music. Therefore, we raise important questions as follows: "Is Music Recommender Systems Fair?", "What is the impact of Music Recommender Systems on online music rankings and sales?" While previous studies have focused on usefulness of Music Recommender Systems, this study investigates not only fairness of Current Music Recommender Systems but also Relationship between Music Recommender Systems and online Music Charts. This study examines these issues based on Bandwagon effect, ranking effect, Slot effect theories. For our empirical analysis, we selected the most famous five online digital music distributors in terms of market shares. We found that all recommended music is exposed to the top of 'daily music charts' in online digital music distributors' websites. We collected music ranking data and recommended music data from 'daily music chart' during a one month. The result shows that online music recommender systems are not fair, since they mainly recommend particular music that supported by a specific music production company. In addition, the recommended music are always exposed to the top of music ranking charts. We also find that recommended music usually appear at the top 20 ranking charts within one or two days. Also, the most music in the top 50 or 100 ranks are the recommended music. Moreover, recommended music usually remain the ranking charts more than one month while non-recommended music often disappear at the ranking charts within two week. Our study provides an important implication to online music industry. Because music recommender systems and music ranking charts are closely related, music distributors may improperly use their recommender systems to boost the sales of music that related to their own companies. Therefore, online digital music distributor must clearly announce the rules and procedures about music recommender systems for the better music industry.
