분리식 지주 단부장치에 이용되는 인덴티드 타입 볼트의 분리파괴에너지 (Breakaway Fracture Energy(BFE) of Indented Type Bolt for Breakaway Sign Supports)

  • 본 연구는 면적 $0.293\;m^2{\sim}0.360\;m^2$의 소형표지판용 지주의 풍하중에 대한 구조적 안정성을 유지하면서도 작은 충돌에도 분리가 일어나도록 고안된 내경 6 mm의 D12 mm 중공형 인덴티드 볼트를 이용한 소형지주용 브레이크어웨이 단부장치의 구조적 안전성을 정적 전단 및 인장실험으로 입증하고 동적특성을 이해하는데 기본이 되는 인덴티드 볼트의 분리 파괴에너지를 펜듈럼 실험과 비선형 동적해석 프로그램인 LS-DYNA 프로그램을 이용하여 구하고 두 가지 방법을 비교한 것이다. 인덴티드 볼트 3개로 이루어진 단부장치는 풍하중 43.1 kg$\sim$51.2 kg를 충분히 지지할 수 있는 것으로 나타났으며 인덴티드 볼트 1개 당 파괴에너지는 펜듈럼 실험값이 163.3J, 시뮬레이션 값이 153J로 유사하게 계산되어 모델의 유효성이 확인되었다.

  • Recently vehicle development trend puts emphasis on cost reduction and performance improvement through weight reduction, and safety security to protect passenger and chassis against external impact. Primary factors effected on vehicle safety are chassis structure, chassis system, and safety equipment like bumper. Research in part of weight reduction is proceeding actively about prohibition of over-design and material through optimal design method. Bumper in these factors is demanded two of all factors, safety security and weight reduction. It is the part that prohibits or reduces a physical impact in low speed crash. Bumper is composed of a few parts but this study exhibits the shape of bumper rail has a role on energy absorption of safety security and weight reduction from structure analysis of bumper rail's variable shape surface.

해일표류물의 충돌에 의한 철근콘크리트 건축물의 응답특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Response Characteristics of Reinforced Concrete Buildings Due to Waterborne Debris Impact Loads)

  • 본 연구에서는 해일표류선박의 충돌이 해일피난건물로 선정된 철근콘크리트 건축물의 안전성에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위하여, 충돌속도, 선박의 질량 및 선박의 길이를 변수로 한 진자를 이용한 축소 충돌실험을 실시하여, 건축물의 응답에 영향을 미치는 최대 충돌력, 충돌시간, 충돌파형 형상, 반발계수 등에 대한 기본적인 물리량 변동추이를 상세히 평가하였다. 그 결과, 충돌파형 형상은 대부분의 실험결과에서 삼각형 분포가 나타났으나, 충돌실험체의 길이의 증가에 따라 사다리꼴에 가까워지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이는 건축물의 응답에 영향을 미치는 충격량 (충돌력 파형의 면적)을 산정함에 있어 매우 중요한 결과이다. 또한 반발계수는 충돌속도의 대소에 관계없이 일정하나, 충돌체의 질량 및 길이에 의해 변화하며, 단위길이당 질량으로 정리하면 반발계수의 변동이 평가가능함을 알 수 있었다.

Seismic responses of structure isolated by FPB subject to pounding between the sliding interfaces considering soil-structure interaction

  • The study aims to investigate the pounding that occurs between the isolator's ring and slider of isolated structures resulting from excessive seismic excitation, while considering soil-structure interaction. The dynamic responses and poundings of structures subjected a series seismic records were comparatively analyzed for three different soil types and fixed-base structures. A series of parametric studies were conducted to thoroughly discuss the effects of the impact displacement ratio, the FPB friction coefficient ratio, and the radius ratio on the structural dynamic response when considering impact and SSI. It was found that the pounding is extremely brief, with an exceptionally large pounding force generated by impact, resulting in significant acceleration pulse. The acceleration and inter-story shear force of the structure experiencing pounding were greater than those without considering pounding. Sudden changes in the inter-story shear force between the first and second floors of the structure were also observed. The dynamic response of structures in soft ground was significantly lower than that of structures in other ground conditions under the same conditions, regardless of the earthquake wave exciting the structure. When the structure is influenced by pulse-type earthquake records, its dynamic response exhibits a trend of first intensifying and then weakening as the equivalent radius ratio and friction coefficient ratio increase. However, it increases with an increase in the pounding displacement ratio, equivalent radius ratio, friction coefficient ratio, and displacement ratio when the structures are subjected to non-pulse-type seismic record.

저속 후방 추돌 자원자 실험을 통한 두부와 경부의 동작분석 (Motion Analysis of Head and Neck of Human Volunteers in Low-Speed Rear Impact)

  • The purpose of this research is to obtain and analyze dynamic responses from human volunteers for the development of the human-like mechanical or mathematical model for Korean males in automotive rear collisions. This paper focused on the introduction to a low-speed rear impact sled test involving Korean male subjects, and the accumulation of the motion of head and neck. A total of 50 dynamic rear impact sled tests were performed with 50 human volunteers, who are 30-50 year-old males. Each subject can be involved in only one case to prevent any injury in which he was exposed to the impulse that was equivalent to a low-speed rear-end collision of cars at 5-8 km/h for change of velocity, so called, ${\Delta}V$. All subjects were examined by an orthopedist to qualify for the test through the medical check-up of their necks and low backs prior to the test. The impact device is the pendulum type, tuned to simulate the crash pulse of a real vehicle. All motions and impulses were captured and measured by motion capture systems and pressure sensors on the seat. Dynamic responses of head and T1 were analyzed in two cases(5 km/h, 8 km/h) to compare with the results in the previous studies. After the experiments, human subjects were examined to check up any change in the post medical analysis. As a result, there was no change in MRI and no injury reported. Six subjects experienced a minor stiffness on their back for no more than 2 days and got back to normal without any medical treatment.

아세토아세톡시기 함유 90% 고형분인 아크릴수지의 하이솔리드 도료에의 적용 (Application of Acrylic Resins Containing Acetoacetoxy Group and 90% Solid Contents to High-Solid Coatings)

  • In order to synthesize high-solid coatings, acrylic resins (HSAs) containing 90% solid content were first synthesized, then the synthesized HSAs were cured with a curing agent, isocyanate, at room temperature to obtain high-solid coatings. In the HSAs synthesis, conversion was in a range of $82{\sim}87%$, and viscosities and number-averaged molecular weight ($M_n$) of the HSAs were in a range of $4380{\sim}8010$ cP and $1540{\sim}1660$, respectively. From the correlation between $T_g$ value, viscosity and $M_n$, it was found that, with increasing $T_g$ value, viscosity increases rapidly and molecular weight increases slowly. From the visco-elasity measured by the pendulum method, it was found that the curing time decreased with increasing $T_g$ values. From the tests of physical properties of the coatings' film, $60^{\circ}$ specular gloss, impact resistance and heat resistance were proved to be good and pencil hardness, drying time and pot-life were proved to be poor.

Seismic poundings of multi-story buildings isolated by TFPB against moat walls

  • The gap provided between adjacent structures in the metropolitan cities is mostly narrow due to architectural and financial issues. Consequently, structural pounding occurs between adjacent structures during earthquakes. It causes damages, ranging from minor local to more severe ones, especially in the case of seismically isolated buildings, due to their higher displacements. However, due to the increased flexibility of isolated buildings, the problem could become more detrimental to such structures. The effect of the seismic pounding of moat walls on the response of buildings isolated by Triple Friction Pendulum Bearing (TFPB) is investigated in this paper. To this propose, two symmetric three-dimensional models, including single-story and five-story buildings, are modeled in Opensees. Nonlinear Time History Analyses (NTHA) are performed for seismic evaluation. Also, five different sizes with four different sets of friction coefficients are considered for base isolators to cover a whole range of base isolation systems with various geometry configurations and fundamental period. The results are investigated in terms of base shear, buildings' drift, and roof acceleration. Results indicated a profound effect of poundings against moat walls. In situations of potential pounding, in some cases, the influence of impact on seismic responses of multistory buildings was more remarkable.

정면 오프셋 충돌시 가스튜브를 이용한 차량용 범퍼의 손상성, 수리성에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Damageability and Repairability of the Car Bumper Systems with Gas Tube)

  • The car crash accidents in low speed occurs most frequently. Damage on a conventional bumper after the car accident causes the bumper to get fixed most of time. This study shows how a gas tube bumper reduces a damageability and increase repairability after the car accidents. The 15 km/h 40% offset front and rear crash test recommended by RCAR (Research council for automobile repairs) standard was performed and evaluated damages on the gas tube bumper by the pendulum impact tester. In this study, the gas tube bumper reduces damageability and increases repairability after car crash accidents. In addition, car frame design to apply the gas tube bumper may consider to be changed.

  • Vibration localization of a periodic structure with mistuning is presented in this paper. Mistuning in periodic structures can lead to an increase of the forced response which is much larger than those of perfectly tuned assembly. Thus, mistuning has a critical impact on high cycle fatigue in structures, and it is of great importance to predict the mistuned forced response in efficient manner. In this paper, forced response of a coupled pendulum is investigated to identify localization effects of periodic structures. The effects of mistuning and damping on the maximum forced response are examined. It is seen that in certain condition of mistuning and coupling, strong localization occurs and this can be significant under weak damping.

벨트 하중에 따른 고령운전자의 흉곽 상해 예측 (Prediction of Thoracic Injury of Older Occupant from Belt Loading)

  • Thoracic injury from restraint loading is the principle causative factor of death, which was shown to be particularly significant for older drivers. To characterize thoracic response to belt loading of older drivers, detailed finite element models of the adult and aged thorax were developed. The geometry of the 50th percentile adult male was chosen for the adult FE model. The thoracic FE model was validated against data obtained from results of PMHS pendulum impact tests. The quantified patterns of age-related shape and well-established material changes were applied to the adult model to develop the aged model. Belt force and chest deflection were applied to the developed two types of models. Rib and clavicle fracture risk obviously increased in the aged model. This finding showed that larger rib angle and reduced material properties of the ribcage produced more higher risk of injury in the older driver.
