The aim of this study is to examine the effects of the story sharing activity on-conflicting situations by the use of children's story on the theory of mind and peer competences of preschoolers so that appropriate teaching materials can be allocated for the actual preschool education site. The subjects of this study were 46 preschoolers under the age 4 at the attached kindergarten of P University in Pohang City, Gyeongbuk and in which 23 children among them were assigned to a test group and the other 23 to a control group. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS ver. 15.0 program and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient was yielded to verify the reliability for each scale. The multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) was conducted. The analysis results are as follows. First, the story sharing activity on conflict situations by using children's story had a significant effect on the preschoolers' general appearance and actual task as sub-factors of the theory of mind, whereas no significant effects were found regarding the content change task and position change task. Second, the story sharing activity on conflict situations by using children's story had significant effect on the preschoolers' overall sensitivity, insecurity and pro-sociability as sub-factors of the peer competences, whereas no significant effects were found regarding the aggression, exclusivity and anti-sociability.
The purpose of this study is to investigate environmental factors that affect mathematics learning of students in multicultural families. For this study, as study subjects, eight elementary school students and one middle school student, who were born and grew up in multicultural families in Korea due to international marriage of Korean father and foreign mother, and their five mothers were selected. To examine factors affecting mathematics learning and interests of students in multicultural families, relationships with parents, friends, and teachers were surveyed, and mathematics attitude test was performed. After conducting one on one interview based on collected questionnaires and results of the attitude test, qualitative data analysis was performed. As a result of survey and interview, positive factors affecting mathematics learning of students in multicultural families included arousing interest in mathematics through mother's mathematics teaching in her mother language and direct teaching, good peer relation, teacher's compliment and encouragement, and lowering the burden of language in accordance with characteristics of mathematics course.
This paper describes some major trends in primary and secondary education now. It is a selective views of significant topics with important implication for the future. These trends are summarized as follows, after examining historical development of Teaching-learning Methodology in primary and secondary education. 1. Education is seen as part of interdisciplinary world; emphasis is on relating education to the students' world, which is not compartmentalized. 2. Emphasizing students' individual growth with their own goal of lives. 3. Open-education with variable contents and purposes of education. 4. Education for all from that for some. 5. Consructivist based from behavior based. 6. Cooperative learning, peer tutoring, group projects. 7. Authentic assessment; assessment integrated with instruction. 8. The teacher is a facilitator of learning and a learner as well; students are learners and teachers in some situations; networks emerge instead of one-way forms or communication. 9. Spiral curriculum from single exposure.

There is an increasing concern in the United States regarding the workforce's ability to maintain a competitive position in the global economy. This has led to an increased interest in effective science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of STEM project-based learning (PBL) on students' self-regulation and motivation to learn. Secondary students (n = 60) participated in a STEM summer camp in which STEM PBL was utilized. Results showed that students increased their self-regulation skills (t = 2.83, df = 59, p = .004) and motivation (t = 2.25, df = 59, p =.004), with Cohen's d effect sizes of 0.395 and 0.404, respectively. Student-centered learning and peer collaboration while solving real-world problems were likely the greatest contributing factors to the outcomes. Educators should utilize the results to provide opportunities for students to experience STEM PBL.
