The purposes of this study were to categorize the type of student-student interaction and analyze the pattern of group interaction by cognitive level in interactive science inquiry experiments. For this study, two homogeneous and two heterogeneous groups by cognitive level were selected. Social interactions during group discussions were audio/video taped. The types of student's interaction were classified as intellectual and emotional aspects. Intellectual aspects were consisted of asking question, response, making suggestion, receiving opinion and then further coded by interaction level. Emotional aspects were consisted of relevance to behavioral participation, relevance to students' feeling, reaction to opinion. Interaction frequency in the intellectual and emotional aspect between homogeneous and heterogeneous group were compared to analyze interaction pattern. The results of this study showed that in intellectual aspect the frequency and quality of interaction in homogeneous group was higher than that in heterogeneous group. In emotional aspect. homogeneous group more showed such negative attitude as lack of confidence and dissatisfaction than heterogeneous group, on the other hand showed acceptable mood to be able to accept or object to peer's opinion. Some educational implications were drawn.

This paper introduces ONLIS(Overlay Multicast Network for Live IPTV Service), a novel overlay multicast network optimized to deliver live broadcast IPTV stream. We analyzed IPTV reference model of ITU-T IPTV standardization group in terms of network and stream delivery from the source networks to the customer networks. Based on the analysis, we divide IPTV reference model into 3 networks; source network, core network and access network, ION(Infrastructure-based Overlay Multicast Network) is employed for the source and core networks and PON(P2P-based Overlay Multicast Network) is applied to the access networks. ION provides an efficient, reliable and stable stream distribution with very negligible delay while PON provides bandwidth efficient and cost effective streaming with a little tolerable delay. The most important challenge in live P2P streaming is to reduce end-to-end delay without sacrificing stream quality. Actually, there is always a trade-off between delay & stream quality in conventional live P2P streaming system. To solve this problem, we propose two approaches. Firstly, we propose DSPT(Distributed Streaming P2P Tree) which takes advantage of combinational overlay multicasting. In DSPT, a peer doesn't fully rely on SP(Supplying Peer) to get the live stream, but it cooperates with its local ANR(Access Network Relay) to reduce delay and improve stream quality. When RP detects bandwidth drop in SP, it immediately switches the connection from SP to ANR and continues to receive stream without any packet loss. DSPT uses distributed P2P streaming technique to let the peer share the stream to the extent of its available bandwidth. This means, if RP can't receive the whole stream from SP due to lack of SP's uploading bandwidth, then it receives only partial stream from SP and the rest from the ANR. The proposed distributed P2P streaming improves P2P networking efficiency.

The purpose of this study is to inquire into the changes to the emotional intelligence of young children by giving them pleasure and memory through the program of ecological experience. A survey was made on 40 young children in two classes out of 5-year-old children's classes in nurseries located at Chungcheong-do. They were divided into the experiment group and control group to consist of 20 persons, respectively. For young children of the experiment group, the experiment was conducted while observing and experiencing through the division of the group into 5 persons on fixed days according to the program of ecological experience. Analysis showed that the program of ecological experience in the experiment group relatively higher effect of increase for the emotional intelligence of young children, and the use of self emotion, the cognition and consideration of other's emotion, the cognition and expression of self emotion, the regulation and impulse control of emotion, the relationship with teacher and the relationship with peer by sub-factors than that in the control group. In other words, close relationships with nature and inquiry instruction of ecological experience have provided the attitude-based formation living together with the understanding of natural world and eco-friendly attitude, the cognition of ecological crisis and social cooperation that couldn't feel in indoor education. Consequently, the program of ecological experience should prove useful for the emotional intelligence of young children.
The purpose of this study was to explore the social workers' reflections developed during the participatory action research seeking practice methods in the community welfare center single parent self-help groups. Nine social workers and researchers sharing difficulties in the community welfare center single parent self-help group practice were involved in the participatory action research. We performed a circulatory research repeating 'plan-action-reflection-replan' cycles through ten sessions of research meetings including peer supervision in parallel with 4 self-help group practices. Multiple practice methods were derived as the result among which change in the social workers' perception was the key. We focused on the result that the social workers' perception was changed by reflections from participatory action research and the contents of the reflections were qualitatively analyzed using materials acquired during the study. As a result the following 5 themes were derived; 'recognition and worry on the lack of appropriate practice for the self-help group', 'specification of the social workers' role based on the changed perspective on the member-social worker relation', 'confirmation of the possibility of the concerned person initiated practice', 'detailed understanding of the single parent self-help group in the community welfare center', and 'renewed recognition of the development of the single parent self-help group in the community welfare center'. Based on these results, empowerment and reflection/reflective practice for single parent self-help group in the community welfare center were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to understand the factors affecting interactions as well as the students' learning process in small group activities. For this purpose, the changes and characteristics of students' interactions in scientific inquiry experiments were analyzed. This study focused on 2 homogeneous small groups of eighth graders. Students were involved in 13 inquiry experiments for one year and students' interactions in each experiments were observed and recorded using video/audio and the data recorded were transcribed. The analysis of data was based on the method of making a note by looking on and listening to the data repeatedly. Changes in the interactions of the two homogeneous groups differ remarkably. In small group A, owing to the conflicts of students' emotions, learning through social interactions became to be impossible. On the other hand, the interactions in small group B became more active. It seems that this changes are affected largely by the existence of peers who are able to mediate different opinions or feelings among group members. In general, middle school students were poor at receiving peers' opinion, cared a lot about writing reports. The less able students tended to be placed at a disadvantageous position in experiment lessons emphasizing social interactions. Four factors that affected the change of interactions were identified: Is the aim of experiments the understanding or completion of report? Is there any attitude towards peers' suggestions? Is there a disposition to care about peers? Is there any peer to mediate on peers' opinions or feelings? Educational implications of the progression of activities emphasizing interactions and the organization of grouping were drawn.
This study. aimed to categorize attitude of smoking behaviors among female student smokers and to provide useful data for development of anti-smoking programs was conducted from Aug. 22 to Nov. 1. using the Q-method. After reviewing the literature the researcher proceeded to interview 10 female students, then developed a statement form consisting of 40 items, and then 30 female student smokers were sampled. The collected data were coded after having been scaled from 1 to 9 points, and analyzed using the PC QUANL program. Three types were identified; The first type focused on the right of the individual to smoke. the second type of students used smoking as a way to relieve their stress, and the third type of students wanted to use smoking as a tool to relate with their peer group. They smoked in closed areas, i.e. rest rooms. coffee shops - places that are not well ventilated and deep inhalation occurs. most subjects of the study started smocking at early ages(the average age was 17). Smoking at this age is especially harmful. It is suggested that the results of the study may be useful for designing anti-smoking health programs including health promotion.
This study purposed to survey grandparents' difficulties in parenting their grand children at grandparent-grandchild households in South Jeolla rural areas. This study was conducted through in-depth interviews from January to October, 2008. The subjects were eight grandparents living with their grandchildren in Boseong-gun, Gangjin-gun, Yeonggwang-gun, Hampyeong-gun, Haenam-gun and Damyang-gun in South Jeolla province. The results are as follows: the grandparents' difficulties in parenting grandchildren are divided into four categories of variable factors: 'Difficulties related to grandparents themselves'; 'Difficulties related to their grandchildren'; 'Difficulties related to early childhood education institution: and 'Difficulties related to their grandchildren's peer group or surrounding people'. The main difficulties in these categories are 'poor, aging and weak conditions of grandparents: 'conflicts in their parenting attitude to have compassion on grandchildren: 'grandparents' not enough educational support to grandchildren due to their ignorance about today's education system: and 'anxiety about the possibility for their grandchildren to be abandoned once again.' These results can be used as a piece of basic information for desirable supports to grandparent-grandchild households.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to predict the risk factors for vascular complications among patients with type 2 diabetes. Method: The data were collected from August to September, 2007 using clinical examination and questionnaires. Patients (N=101) were recruited from the endocrinology department of P University hospital in D city. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the data. Results: The cardiovascular risk of patients with diabetes was significantly related to self care behavior, family history, and smoking status. The risk of peripheral vascular complications was not related to predictors included in the study. With multivariate analyses, significant predictors of cardiovascular risk for these patients were self care behavior, family history, and smoking status ($R^2=.40$, p<.0001). Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that smoking cessation and improving self-care behavior are essential to reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications among patients with diabetes. To enhance self-care practices for the patients with diabetes, nursing interventions, such as telephone counseling, problem focused nursing counseling, and peer group activities should be considered.
The purpose of this study was to grasp the factors having influence upon the social adjustment of children in multi-cultural families and to examine the degree of influence of these influential factors. For these aims, it targeted 186 children of multi-cultural families, that access social welfare institutions or multi-cultural institutions in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas. The findings are as follows. First, the factors having influence upon the social adjustment of children in multi-cultural families were indicated to be self-esteem, parental marital relations, bullying, and the support of adults other than their parents. In other words, these children's higher level of social adjustment was correlated with higher self-esteem, better parental marital relations, fewer bullying experiences from their peer group, and more support from adults other than their parents'. Secondly, support from adults other than parents was indicated to be the most influential among the variables affecting the social adjustment of children in multi-cultural families. The factor having the second highest level of influence was indicated to be self-esteem, followed by parental marital relations, and then bullying.
