The use of existing macroscopic research of pedestrian behavior on the walking link as data is limited in determining an individual pedestrian's moving route and the level of service. In macroscopic studies, it is difficult to make quantitative indices, such as pedestrian flow rate, occupied space, density, and speed for determining the level of service on pedestrian roads. Therefore, the microscopic pedestrian route is required to establish appropriate pedestrian policies. In this study, the Yeok-Sam subway station network was examined using a micro-simulation VISSIM, which was then calibrated and validated statistically. The Pedestrian Road's Level of Service of Yeok-Sam subway station area was evaluated using the pedestrian speed as the evaluating index on the Korean highway capacity handbook.
This study proposes methodology deterimining a basic pedestrian crossing capacity that plays a critical role in the installation of pedestrian signal at the crosswalks. The methodology is based on the pattern of vehicle arrived at the crosswalks. Erlang distribuion is used as headway distribution that can cover the various levels of flow rate. Models using Erlang distribution are represented by Erlang parameter (K) of 1, 2, or 3 at 2-, 4-, or 6-lane roadway in both directions. In addition, this study considered the only type of road with a pedestrian refuge area in the median that is used to wait for the allowable gap provided by the flow of another direction. As a result, the pedestrian capacity decreases as flow rate increases and Erlang parameter increases for the road with the pedestrian refuge. This study develops the models to determine the pedestrian capacity under a variety of flow rates and the outcomes of this study could be used as the criteria for the determination of the installation of pedestrian signal or for the provision of pedestrian refuge in the median of road.

Recently, the wide spread popularity of smart phones causes the advent of various mobile applications base on the location information. Since previous pedestrian navigations are applied by extending car navigations, these are not only difficult to provide the appropriate route information, but also raise limitations in the efficient query processing by data structures of car road networks. In addition, these increase the power consumption caused by the growth of I/O frequency. In this paper, we propose a pedestrian road network model for the accurate route information and a storage structure for the pedestrian road network based on POI to reduce the I/O frequency. The proposed method enables efficient route searches over POI reflecting the characteristics and requirements of pedestrian roads. Also, a reduction of query processing costs for the route searching by a data structure considered with POI can save the power consumption more than previous approaches.

The pedestrian space of the street is one of the most important public places in the city. Sidewalks are the paths that everyone travels, and the spaces in which everyone comes together. By Whatever means they travel, everyone is ultimately a pedestrian during their journey through the residential area. Every year, more than six thousand Koreans are victimized by traffic accidents, and a half of them are pedestrians. This study aims at improving the pedestrian environment in residential area, and thus making road a walkable, pedestrian-friendly space. The study reviews the problems in the pedestrian environment of residential area and proposes improvement strategies.
Personal mobility, which was used exclusively for leisure activities, has recently been used as a means of transportation, and it is expected to increase its role as the next generation transportation. Sales of personal mobility are increasing rapidly, but the problem is that traffic accidents are also increasing. In this study, human body injury caused by various collisions between electric wheel users and road users that occur on bicycle or pedestrian roads mainly used by personal mobility is analyzed through collision analysis and collision risk analysis. In the case of the collision accident for electric wheel, it is analyzed that the road users are more likely to be injured on the pedestrian road than the bicycle road. In addition, the head hit each other or fall and hit the floor caused severe head injury.
Objective: In order to secure the right to walk for the weak, such as the disabled, this study aims to suggest ways to improve the pedestrian environment by identifying factors that cause obstacles to walking. Design: Data Analysis and Perception Survey. Methods: The questionnaire was conducted separately between users of personal mobility vehicle and non-users. A total of 207 effective questionnaires were collected, and the analysis analyzed the perception of personal mobility vehicle by conducting frequency analysis using SAS 9.4. The survey focused on basic information on respondents, walking conditions, understanding of personal mobility vehicle, awareness of pedestrian space passage and parking, and awareness of the possibility of securing pedestrian rights due to new regulations. Results: First, when moving a pedestrian path by personal mobility vehicle, it shall be limited to less than the walking speed of pedestrians. Second, the parking location of the personal mobility vehicle is located at the boundary of the pedestrian road and the lane. Third, pay a fair price to park in a pedestrian space. Conclusions: It is necessary to improve the system to strengthen the contents of education to take into account the safety of pedestrians in education on how to use personal mobility vehicle.

Pedestrian deaths account for a high percentage of deaths in traffic accidents in Korea, raising interest in pedestrian safety policy. However, since the walk signal time is applied based on the length of the crosswalk without considering the walker and the signal cycle, the walk waiting time is relatively longer than the crosswalk, causing pedestrian jaywalking. In this study, due to an unreasonable signal time plan during a road crossing where a signal is installed, the pedestrian's walk signal was given twice a cycle of crossings, and the operational and safety effects of the signal system were quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed, and the operational effects of the signal interval and jaywalking rate were assessed by different signal intervals. The results showed that jaywalking and waiting time decreased, and the shorter the interval between the application of the walk signal time, the less jaywalking is analyzed. However, there is a risk of vehicle conflict due to pedestrian exposure, and measures for expanding safety for operation were proposed.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of the CIE standard on lighting environments to Korea. In the field study, horizontal and the vertical illuminance was measured at the pedestrian road in the central business district of a city, and the questionnaires were conducted to get information regarding pedestrian's satisfaction with lighting environment. Four areas were selected for this survey. That areas have different type of pedestrian roads concerning the lighting conditions and the number of walkers. From the results of the measurements, It is known that the illuminance of pedestrian roads is different according to the lighting conditions and the number of poot passengers. Also the results of questionnaires show that the illuminance of the pedestrian roads affect to the pedestrian's satisfaction. Lastly, the CIE standard on lighting environments is applicable to the central business district of the cities in Korea.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the pedestrian environment of the residential area in residential development. The result of the research are follows; first, the pedestrian environment in the apartment quarter is better than independent residential quarter. second, the pedestrian and the automobile use together the street, because the side walk ist not established from the road where the width is narrow. finally, the condition of side walk paving ist bad, so that the pedestrian environmental level decreased badly

The KDE (Kernel Density Estimation) technique in GIS (Geographic Information System) has been widely used as a method for determining whether a phenomenon occurring in space forms clusters. Most human-generated events such as traffic accidents and retail stores are distributed according to a road network. Even if events on forward and rear roads have short Euclidean distances, network distances may increase and the correlation between them may be low. Therefore, the NKDE (Network-based KDE) technique has been proposed and applied to the urban space where a road network has been developed. KDE is being studied in the field of business GIS, but there is a limit to the microscopic analysis of economic activity along a road. In this study, the NKDE technique is applied to the analysis of urban phenomena such as the density of shops rather than traffic accidents that occur on roads. The results of the NKDE technique are also compared to pedestrian networks and road centerline networks. The results show that applying NKDE to microscopic trade area analysis can yield relatively accurate results. In addition, it was found that pedestrian network data that can consider the movement of actual pedestrians are necessary for accurate trade area analysis using NKDE.
