The Design of Variable Structure Position Controller for Bushless DC Motor Using New Switching Function (새로운 스위칭 함수를 이용한 브러시리스 직류 전등기의 가변 구조 위치 제어기 설계)

  • This paper discusses the application of VSCS(Variable Structure Control System) to position control of a trapezoidal type brushless DC motor. In order to simplify the overall control system and to improve the robustness, a new switching function which is composed of linear combination of only measurable state variables Sr(x) and Sr(x) is defined. The proposed new switching function is implemented using a digital signal processor(DSP). A general PWM amplifier is replaced by an ON-OFF pattern generator for the hardware simplification and digitalization. Experimental results are given to demonstrate the validity of the proposed control method.

  • The rate of the channel code can be controlled by various methods. Puncturing is one of the methods of increasing the code rate, and the original code before puncturing is called the mother code. Any (n,k) convolutional code is obtainable by puncturing some mother codes, and the process of finding the mother code is necessary for designing the optimum channel decoder. In this paper, we proved that any (n,n-1) convolutional code has (2,1) mother codes regardless of the puncturing pattern and showed that they must be equivalent.

  • In order to recognize a situation from a environment which provides an intelligent service, we propose state-transition based situation modeling which is suitable for a low computing power and restricted resources like embedded systems, and we designed its application to a situation-action converter(SAC)which is consist of two parts; situation detector recognized wanted situations and action generator generated various control actions. Then, we implemented a situation manager for smart scheduler service by using a SAC which is installed to a ARM processor based embedded Linux evaluation board.

  • Renewable energy or green energy is a hot issue in theses days. Since wind resource can be endlessly supplied by nature, researchers and common people are interested in study how to use that resource at home or company. Especially, many architects have tried to integrate wind power generator for a part of building. So in this paper, three buildings installed wind power turbine are targed to CFD analysis and these buildings are Bahrain trade center, Discovery tower, and Pearl river tower. Bahrain trade center is the first builidng installed real wind turbine, Discovery tower is constructing at Texas, and Pearl river tower is designed and proved by china researchers. These buildings have very different type of wind power turbine and each turbine has different conditions for best power generation. Therefor this paper will focus on characteristic shape of buildings, wind power turbine type, and expected purpose of construction. Moreover, CFD analysis will show wind flow pattern and wind speed while wind is passing through wind turbine of three tall buildings. CFD analysis for three buildings make comparison the wind flow patterns with experimental result.

Proliferation and Characteristics of Murine T Lymphocytes in A Mitogen-Induced Conditioned Media(Interleukin-2) (마우스 T세포 증식인자(interleukin-2)에 의한 마우스 T림프구의 장기배양 및 그 특성)

  • Balb/c mouse spleen cells in vitro sensitized against ICR spleen cells were cultured in conditioned media(CM). The CM was produced by ICR spleen cells stimulated with Concanavalin-A(Con-A), and sensitized lymphoid cells were grown in CM. ICR mouse spleen cells were appeared to be a good generator of IL-2. Optimal growth was seen in growth medium containing 20% fetal calf serum. and 25% CM. When cultures were initiated at 1, 5, $10{\times}10^4\;cells/ml$, the cells were increased in numbers by about 20, 13, 5-fold, respectively, every 9 days. Such growth pattern was sustained for about 4-6 weeks and thereafter the cell growth was diminished gradually. Direct immunofluorescence indicated that 93% of the lymphoid cells grown in CM(for 10 days) expressed Thyl surface antigen. And the cells grown in CM were cytotoxic to the sesitizing ICR mouse spleen cells though cytotoxicity level was not high. According to these results, the cells grown in CM were considered to be cytotoxic T lymphocytes. The lymphoid cells grown for 20 days were nearly unresponsive to Con-A and therefore dependent only IL-2 to be used for IL-2 assay.

$V_3$Si 나노 구조체를 이용한 메모리 소자의 전기적 특성연구

  • 최근 나노입자를 이용한 비휘발성 메모리 소자의 제작에 대한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 특히, 실리사이드 계열의 나노입자를 적용한 소자는 일함수가 크지만 실리콘 내의확산 문제를 가지고 있는 금속 나노입자와 달리 현 실리콘 기반의 반도체 공정 적용이 용이한 잇 점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 실리사이드 계열의 화합물 중에서 4.63 eV인 Vanadium Silicide ($V_3$Si) 박막을 열처리 과정을 통하여 수 nm 크기의 나노입자로 제작하였다. 소자의 제작은 p-Si기판에 5 nm 두께의 $SiO_2$ 터널층을 dry oxidation 방법으로 성장시킨 후 $V_3$Si 금속박막을 RF magnetron sputtering system을 이용하여 3~5 nm 두께로 tunnel barrier위에 증착시켰다. Rapid thermal annealing법으로 질소 분위기에서 $1000^{\circ}C$의 온도로 30초 동안 열처리하여 $V_3$Si 나노 입자를 형성 하였으며. 20 nm 두께의 $SiO_2$ 컨트롤 산화막층을 ultra-high vacuum magnetron sputtering을 이용하여 증착하였다. 마지막으로 thermal evaporation system을 통하여 Al 전극을 직경 200, 두께 200nm로 증착하였다. 제작된 구조는 metal-oxide-semiconductor구조를 가지는 나노 부유 게이트 커패시터 이며, 제작된 시편은 transmission electron microscopy을 이용하여 $V_3$Si 나노입자의 크기와 균일성을 확인했다. 소자의 전기적인 측정은 E4980A capacitor parameter analyzer와 Agilent 81104A apulse pattern generator system을 이용한 전기용량-전압 측정을 통해 전하저장 효과를 분석하였다.

  • The vertically integrated power industry was divided into six generation companies and one market operator, where electricity trading was launched at power exchange. In this environment, the profits of each generation companies are guaranteed according to utilization of their own generation equipments. Especially, the electricity demand shows seasonal and weekly regular pattern, which the some capacity should be provided into ancillary service based on the past demand forecasting error and operating results of electricity market. Namely, if generation cost function is applied to SMP and BLMP as announced the previous day, the available generation capacity of the following day could be optimally distributed, and therefore contract capacity of ancillary service applied to CBP(Cost Based Pool) and TWBP(Two-Way Bidding Pool) is determined. Consequently, it is Possible to use the retained equipments optimally. This paper represents on efficient bidding strategies for generation equipments through the calculation of the contract and the application of each generator cost function based on the past demand forecasting error and market operating data.

Simulation of Energy Conversion Characteristics of OMACON LM-MHD Systems (OMACON형 LM-MHD 시스템에서의 에너지전환특성 시뮬레이션)

  • The characteristics of the flow and energy conversion in OMACON liquid-metal MHD system are investigated. Numerical simulation of two-phase flow in the OMACON system without magnetic field was carried out by the Phoenics code and the energy conversion characteristics are studied in association with the fact that the mechanical energy loss at the nozzle of the OMACON system are to be converted into electrical energy. In this system, working fluid (gas) is injected through the mixer located at the bottom of the riser, and is mixed with hot liquid metal. Therefore in the riser two-phase flow is developed under the influence of the gravity. In this study, the interaction between the gas and liquid is considered by the use of IPSA(InterPhase Slip Algorithm) where standard drag coefficient has been used. It has been assumed that in the flow regime the liquid is continuous and the gas is dispersed. For the liquid and gas, the continuity equations, momentum equations and energy equations are solved respectively in association with void fraction in the flow field. In order to calculate the energy conversion efficiency, firstly the ratio of the mechanical energy loss of liquid metal flow at the nozzle to the input thermal energy is considered. Secondly flow pattern of liquid metal in the generator has been analyzed, and the characteristics of the conversion of the mechanical energy into the electrical energy has been investigated. For an representative case where Hartmann number is 540 and magnetic field is 0.35 T, the present analysis shows that the energy conversion efficiency is 0.653. This result is considered to be reasonable in comparison with published experimental results.

Implementation of Excitatory CMOS Neuron Oscillator for Robot Motion Control Unit

  • This paper presents an excitatory CMOS neuron oscillator circuit design, which can synchronize two neuron-bursting patterns. The excitatory CMOS neuron oscillator is composed of CMOS neurons and CMOS excitatory synapses. And the neurons and synapses are connected into a close loop. The CMOS neuron is based on the Hindmarsh-Rose (HR) neuron model and excitatory synapse is based on the chemical synapse model. In order to fabricate using a 0.18 um CMOS standard process technology with 1.8V compatible transistors, both time and amplitude scaling of HR neuron model is adopted. This full-chip integration minimizes the power consumption and circuit size, which is ideal for motion control unit of the proposed bio-mimetic micro-robot. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed excitatory CMOS neuron oscillator performs the expected waveforms with scaled time and amplitude. The active silicon area of the fabricated chip is $1.1mm^2$ including I/O pads.

  • In this study, we designed the system that helps drivers check all information about parking space at the entrance and find out whether the places is available or not, because the system has 'Image recognition function' which can even recognize car number plates exactly. Besides, we place the webcam close to the car number plate, so that car number can be identified more quickly. Finally, since we set the webcam high, the system keeps us from parking wrong places by displaying on the screen.
