PMDV-hop: An effective range-free 3D localization scheme based on the particle swarm optimization in wireless sensor network

  • Location information of individual nodes is important in the implementation of necessary network functions. While extensive studies focus on localization techniques in 2D space, few approaches have been proposed for 3D positioning, which brings the location closer to the reality with more complex calculation consumptions for high accuracy. In this paper, an effective range-free localization scheme is proposed for 3D space localization, and the sensitivity of parameters is evaluated. Firstly, we present an improved algorithm (MDV-Hop), that the average distance per hop of the anchor nodes is calculated by root-mean-square error (RMSE), and is dynamically corrected in groups with the weighted RMSE based on group hops. For more improvement in accuracy, we expand particle swarm optimization (PSO) of intelligent optimization algorithms to MDV-Hop localization algorithm, called PMDV-hop, in which the parameters (inertia weight and trust coefficient) in PSO are calculated dynamically. Secondly, the effect of various localization parameters affecting the PMDV-hop performance is also present. The simulation results show that PMDV-hop performs better in positioning accuracy with limited energy.

  • The DNA chips are devices associating the specific recognition properties of two DNA single strands through hybridization process with the performances of the microtechnology. In the literature, the "Gene chip" or "DNA chip" terminology is employed in a wide way and includes macroarrays and microarrays. Standard definitions are not yet clearly exposed. Generally, the difference between macro and microarray concerns the number of active areas and their size, Macroarrays correspond to devices containing some tens spots of 500$\mu$m or larger in diameter. microarrays concern devices containing thousnads spots of size less than 500$\mu$m. The key technical parameters for evaluating microarray-manufacturing technologies include microarray density and design, biochemical composition and versatility, repreducibility, throughput, quality, cost and ease of prototyping. Here we report, a new method in which minute particles are arranged in a random fashion on a chip pattern using random fluidic self-assembly (RFSA) method by hydrophobic interaction. We intend to improve the stability of the particles at the time of arrangement by establishing a wall on the chip pattern, besides distinction of an individual particle is enabled by giving a tag structure. This study demonstrates the fabrication of a chip pattern, immobilization of DNA to the particles and arrangement of the minute particle groups on the chip pattern by hydrophobic interaction.ophobic interaction.

석탄 비산회(Fly-Ash)의 미연탄소 함량 측정방법에 대한 고찰 (Overview on The Measurement Methods of Unburned Carbon Contents in Coal Fly-Ash)

  • The importance of waste treatments is increasing because of the lack of resources and environmental problems resulted from economic growth policy. Especially, the pollutant dust which is one of the wastes should be treated considerately because it could cause secondary damages on the human health as well as environmental systems. Recently, massive amount of coal fly-ash is being produced in thermoelectric power plants. In this study, we compared two general methods used in estimating the amount of unburned carbon in fly-ashes to categorize the coal fly-ashes into several groups following their carbon contents. One is the "loss on ignition(KS L 5405) method" which estimates the change of mass after combustion, and it is generally used. Another one is measuring $CO_2$ gas content by burning solid carbon in the fly-ash, and it is called "$CO_2$ analysis method."

Application of CR-39 Microfilm for Rapid Discrimination Between Alpha-Particle Sources

  • This work presents a new technique for discriminating between alpha particles of different energy levels. In a first study, two groups of alpha particles emitted from radium-226 and americium-241 sources were successfully separated using a CR-39 microfilm of appropriate thickness. This thickness was adjusted by chemical etching before and after irradiation so that lower-energy particles were stopped within the detector, while higher-energy particles were revealed on the back side of the detector. The number of tracks on the front side of the microfilm represented all alpha particles incident on that side from the two sources. However, the number of tracks on the back side of the microfilm represented only the long-range alpha particles of higher energy that arrived at that side. Therefore, by subtracting the number of tracks on the back side from the number of tracks on the front side, one could easily determine the number of tracks for the short-range alpha particles of lower energy that remained embedded in the microfilm. Discrimination of the two energy levels is thus achieved in a simple, fast, and reliable process.

  • The electron energy probability function (EEPF) is of significant importance since the plasma chemistry such as the rate of ionization is determined by the electron energy distribution function. It is usually assumed to be Maxwell distribution for 0-D global model. Meanwhile, it has been observed experimentally that the form of EEPF of Ar plasma changes from being two-temperature to Druyvesteyn like as the gas pressure increases. Thus, to apply the 0-D global model of Maxwellian distribution to the non-Maxwellian plasma, we investigated the relative contribution of two distinct electrons with different temperatures. The contributions of cold/hot electrons to the equilibrium state of the plasma have attracted interest and been researched. The contributions to the power and particle balance of cold/hot electrons were studied by comparing the result of the global model considering all combinations of electron temperatures with that of 1-D Particle-in-Cell and Monte Carlo collision (PIC-MCC) simulation and the results of studies were analyzed physically. Furthermore, comparisons term by term for variations of the contribution of cold/hot electrons at different driving currents are presented.

우리나라 생면용 밀가루의 성질 (Physicochemical Properties of Korean Raw Noodle Flours)

  • 호주 표준 흰 밀(ASW) 단독 또는 ASW와 호주경질밀 또는 미국 밀(서부 횐 밀, 경질 붉은 겨울 밀)을 혼합 제분한 생면용 밀가루의 일반 성분과 색도, 입도분포, 호화성질, 리올로지 성질을 비교하였다. 단백질과 회분 함량은 ASW 밀가루가 평균 8.51%와 0.375%(수분 14% 기준)로서 혼합밀가루의 9.20%와 0.406%보다 낮았다. 밀가루의 색도는 명도와 황색도는 ASW 밀가루와 혼합밀가루 사이에 차이가 없었다. 밀가루의 평균 입자 크기는 ASW 밀가루가 작았으나 표면적은 두 집단별 차이가 없었다. 밀가루 팽윤부피는 ASW 밀가루가 높은 경향이였으나 유의적인 차이는 아니었다. 신속점도계에 의한 최고점도는 ASW 밀가루가 높았다. 파리노그래프와 익스텐시그래프 특성값은 두 집단 사이에 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 단백질 함량은 밀가루의 평균입자크기, 파리노그래프의 반죽안정성, 익스텐시그래프의 신장도와 (+)상관을, 팽윤부피, RVA 최고점도와는 (-)상관을 보였다. 밀가루 팽윤부피는 RVA 최고점도와 (+)상관을 보였다. 팽윤부피와 최고점도는 파리노그래프 또는 익스텐시그래프 특성 값과는 상관을 보이지 않았다.

입자크기 분포를 고려한 부력침강 저수지 밀도류의 탁도 모델링 (Turbidity Modeling for a Negative Buoyant Density Flow in a Reservoir with Consideration of Multiple Particle Sizes)

  • Large artificial dam reservoirs and associated downstream ecosystems are under increased pressure from long-term negative impacts of turbid flood runoff. Despite various emerging issues of reservoir turbidity flow, turbidity modeling studies have been rare due to lack of experimental data that can support scientific interpretation. Modeling suspended sediment (SS) dynamics, and therefore turbidity ($C_T$), requires provision of constitutive relationships ($SS-C_T$) and accounting for deposition of different SS size fractions/types distribution in order to display this complicated dynamic behavior. This study explored the performance of a coupled two-dimensional (2D) hydrodynamic and particle dynamics model that simulates the fate and transport of a turbid density flow in a negatively buoyant density flow regime. Multiple groups of suspended sediment (SS), classified by the particle size and their site-specific $SS-C_T$ relationships, were used for the conversion between field measurements ($C_T$) and model state variables (SS). The 2D model showed, in overall, good performance in reproducing the reservoir thermal structure, flood propagation dynamics and the magnitude and distribution of turbidity in the stratified reservoir. Some significant errors were noticed in the transitional zone due to the inherent lateral averaging assumption of the 2D hydrodynamic model, and in the lacustrine zone possibly due to long-term decay of particulate organic matters induced during flood runoffs.

The effect of alumina and aluminium nitride coating by reactive magnetron sputtering on the resin bond strength to zirconia core

  • PURPOSE. Although several surface treatments have been recently investigated both under in vitro and in vivo conditions, controversy still exists regarding the selection of the most appropriate zirconia surface pre-treatment. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of alumina (Al) and aluminium nitride (AlN) coating on the shear bond strength of adhesive resin cement to zirconia core. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Fifty zirconia core discs were divided into 5 groups; air particle abrasion with 50 ${\mu}m$ aluminum oxide particles ($Al_2O_3$), polishing + Al coating, polishing + AlN coating, air particle abrasion with 50 ${\mu}m$ $Al_2O_3$ + Al coating and air particle abrasion with 50 ${\mu}m$ $Al_2O_3$ + AlN coating. Composite resin discs were cemented to each of specimens. Shear bond strength (MPa) was measured using a universal testing machine. The effects of the surface preparations on each specimen were examined with scanning electron microscope (SEM). Data were statistically analyzed by one-way ANOVA (${\alpha}$=.05). RESULTS. The highest bond strengths were obtained by air abrasion with 50 ${\mu}m$ $Al_2O_3$, the lowest bond strengths were obtained in polishing + Al coating group (P<.05). CONCLUSION. Al and AlN coatings using the reactive magnetron sputtering technique were found to be ineffective to increase the bond strength of adhesive resin cement to zirconia core.

Quantum-infusion 메커니즘을 이용한 분산형 입자군집최적화 알고리즘에 관한 연구 (A Study on Distributed Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm with Quantum-infusion Mechanism)

  • 본 논문에서는 종래의 PSO 알고리즘 성능저하의 주요 원인들 중 하나인 입자들의 조기수렴 현상을 개선한 DPSO-QI (Distributed PSO with quantum-infusion mechanism) 기법을 제안한다. DPSO-QI 알고리즘은 다음과 같은 두 가지 특징을 지닌다. 첫째, 분산형 구조의 PSO 기법을 도입한다. 이는 먼저 적절한 수의 입자들로 소그룹을 형성하고, 최적해 탐색에 필요한 다양한 정보의 교환이 각 소그룹 내에서만 이루어지도록 한 기법이다. 이러한 기법을 바탕으로 입자들의 탐색 다양성을 증대시킴으로서 조기수렴 현상을 감소시키는 효과를 달성할 수 있다. 둘째, 상기의 입자 소그룹에 Quantum-infusion (QI) 메커니즘에 기반 한 기법을 도입시킨다. 이를 통해 입자들의 전역 최적해 탐색 정밀도를 보다 향상시킬 수 있다. 끝으로 다양한 수치예제를 통하여 제안하는 새로운 PSO 기법이 종래의 방식들에 비해 매우 뛰어난 성능을 구현할 수 있음을 입증하고자 한다.

유기물의 자연발화점 예측을 위한 부분최소자승법과 SVM의 비교 (Comparison of Partial Least Squares and Support Vector Machine for the Autoignition Temperature Prediction of Organic Compounds)

  • 화학물질의 화재위험을 나타내는 가장 중요한 물성의 하나인 자연발화점의 실험 데이터는 그 필요에도 불구하고 데이터를 얻는 것이 어려운 경우가 많다. 이 연구에서는 DIPPR 801에서 얻은 503개 유기물의 자연발화점 실험데이터로부터 자연발화점을 예측하는 부분최소자승법(PLS) 및 support vector machine(SVM) 모델을 만들고 비교하였다. 그룹기여법을 이용하여 59개 작용기가 이 예측모델의 독립변수가 되었다. 두 모델에서 결정해야 할 매개변수는 교차검증으로 계산된 오차를 이용하여 결정되었고, SVM모델은 그 매개변수가 많아 particle swarm optimization을 이용한 최적화를 이용하였다. 전체 데이터에 대해 계산된 평균절대오차는 PLS가 58.59K였고, SVM이 29.11K여서 SVM이 PLS에 비해 매우 우수한 예측성능을 보였다.
