파울링 가속장치를 이용한 공기조화기용 열교환기의 공기측 파울링 특성에 대한 예측 모델링 (Modeling of the Air-side Particulate Fouling in Finned-Tube Heat Exchangers of Air Conditioners using Accelerated Particle-Loading System)

  • The air-side particulate fouling in the heat exchangers of HVAC applications degrades the performance of cooling capacity, pressure drop across a heat exchanger, and indoor air quality. Indoor and outdoor air contaminants foul heat exchangers. The purpose of this study is to investigate and to model the air-side particulate fouling characteristics of the heat exchangers using accelerated particle loading system. The main variables of the modeling equation are face velocity and dust concentration. The modeling equation shows good agreements with the experimental results at the face velocity of 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 m/s and the dust concentration of 1.28 and $3.84\;g/m^3$. It will be very useful to predict fouling characteristics such as variations of pressure drop and heat transfer capacity in finned-tube heat exchangers of air conditioners.

자동차 연료펌프의 오염민감도 실험 연구 (An Experimental Investigation on The Contamination Sensitivity of An Automotive Fuel Pump)

  • This study addresses the contamination sensitivity test of a typical fuel pump for automotive vehicle. The objective of the study is to find the contamination sensitivity coefficient of fuel pump on specific contaminant particle sizes so that optimal fuel filter could be selected. To achieve the objective, the degradation of discharge flow rate of fuel pump was measured under the experiments of various contaminants size ranges of ISO test dust up to 80${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The fundamental theory of contamination sensitivity was introduced and the contamination sensitivity coefficients were estimated using the experimental data. Maximum contamination sensitivity coefficient of $5{\times}10^{-6}$ L/minㆍEa was found on the contaminant size range of 40${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$∼50${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The magnified picture of the surface of vane disc revealed that the abrasive wear was the principal cause of discharge flow rate degradation. Hence, this study revealed that high efficiency filter on the contaminant particle size range of 30${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$∼70${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ especially should be used to maintain the service lift of the fuel filter.

  • Pilot-scale soil washing facility was developed and operation condition was determined in order to remediate a soil contaminated with As, Ni and Zn. Soil washing facility is composed of soil particle separation, soil washing and wastewater treatment process. Both oxyanionic As and cationic Ni and Zn were effciently removed using HCl rather 0than H$_2$SO$_4$ and H$_2$PO$_4$. This is why oxyanion and cation metals can be extracted simultaneously from the contaminated soil in acidic solution. Further, the contaminated soils include calcite and then demand much acidity, that is consumption of acid solution. Fine particles are enriched with contaminants, and coarse particles are removed effectively rather than fine particles. As, Ni and Zn are strongly associated with minerals, and then the residence time should be increased for a reaction with washing solution.

Kumerowia stipujacea Is an useful species that diminish the injury of soil and rainwater We study that estimates of preventing soul erosion and river over-flow can be obtained from the experimental model developmented by several equators. Many potential contaminants are removed by filtration as the water moves slowly through the fields of K. supulacea.

  • Thermal desorption process is valuable for the remediation of oil contaminated site. The system is physical separation process by volatizing oil contaminants from soil matrixes and is not designed to provide high levels of oil destruction. The process is not incineration, because the decomposition of oil materials is not the desired result, although some decomposition may occur. The physical and chemical properties that influence the design and operation of the system include boiling points, soil sorption characteristics, aqueous phase solubility, thermal stability, contaminating oil concentration, moisture contents, particle size distribution and etc.

  • This study theoretically investigated the roll-off cleanliness operation to eliminate the built-in contaminants which are primarily the result of manufacturing and assembly procedures first. A rigorous analytical examination of the cleaning process associated with hydraulic systems was performed by developing the general filtration process equations. The sloughing process by which built-in contaminant is entrained in the system fluid was examined during the development of a general analytical expression for sloughing rate. This sloughing rate expression in conjunction with the filtration process equations have lead to a relationship rate expression in conjunction with the filtration process equations have lead to a relationship which describes the flushing and clean-up operation for the hydraulic systems. The effects of the primary roll-off cleanliness factors was discussed and illustrated on the figures. Then, the analytical results was shown to be usefully applied into the design of roll-off flushing equipment for the hydraulic system of a tractor.

다순환 여과시험에 의한 자동차용 연료필터의 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of an Automotive Fuel Filter by Multi-Pass Filtration Test)

  • Filtration performance of an automotive fuel filter was evaluated based on the theory of Beta ratio. This study also introduced the fuel components' contamination performance test stand incorporating the multi-pass filtration test circuit. The theoretical basis of multi-pass test and test procedure were described in detail. The specification of commercial fuel filter currently available was just the maximum pressure drop across the filter assembly and the holding capacity of contaminants. However, test results revealed that the fuel filter tested could not maintain consistent Beta ratio, that is filtration efficiency, although it had the holding capacity close to the specification. Hence the Beta ratio should be specified in service life. The results also showed that filtration system model should be refined including desorption ratio to estimate the variable Beta ratio in the test.

Characterization of Fly Ash by Field-Flow Fractionation Combined with SPLITT Fractionation and Compositional Analysis by ICP-OES

  • Accurate analysis of fly ash particles is not trivial because of complex nature in physical and chemical properties. SPLITT fractionation (SF) was employed to fractionate the fly ash particles into subpopulations in large quantities. Then the SF-fractions were analyzed by the steric mode of sedimentation field-flow fractionation (Sd/StFFF) for size analysis. The SF-fractions were also analyzed by ICP-OES. The results showed that the fly ash is mainly composed of Fe, Ca, Mg and Mn. No particular trends were observed between the particle size and the concentrations of Fe, Ca, Mg, while Mn, Cu and Zn were in higher concentrations in smaller particles. Sample preparation procedures were established, where the fly ash particles were sieved to remove large contaminants, and then washed with acetone to remove organics on the surface of particles. The sample preparation and analysis methods developed in this study could be applied to other environmental particles.

  • This study presents the comparative filtration performance evaluation of automotive fuel filters based on the theory of Beta ratio. And the theoretical basis of multi-pass test and the test procedure were described in detail. Experimental results revealed that domestic fuel filter tested could not maintain consistent Beta ratio, that is filtration efficiency, although it had the holding capacity of contaminants close to the specification at maximum pressure drop across the filter assembly. The results of experiments and simulations also showed that filtration system model could be refined including desorption ratio to estimate the variable Beta ratio in service life.
