Many efforts have been made to improve the management of large-scale green spaces. How to manage large-scale green spaces and their active uses, as well as how to build relationships with local communities have been important issues. For this research, I reviewed the actual status of management, use and citizen participation at large-scale regional parks in Hyogo Prefecture. In addition, I studied the sustainable management through citizen participation of the Awaji Island Regional Park, where I have been involved for several years. I conducted various projects related to the use and management of the park, and examined the direction of citizen participation by conducting questionnaires and interviews. (1) Through interviews about the park, I collected opinions, including good points, problems, and potential solutions through physical and programming measures. (2) I examined what kinds of activities should be conducted in the park in order to revitalize park use and stimulate the surrounding communities. (3) I examined the current status of citizen participation while citizens carried out activities of their own planning. (4) I studied what is necessary to sustain park events and other activities. As a result, I came to the following conclusions. (1) Provision of information that is easy to access, including signs in the park, explanation of routes in large parks, and other techniques that help people become familiar with park facilities, is very important. (2) Local community events, and programs that draw out the willingness and capabilities of volunteers are effective. (3) Several different types of participation exist, including volunteers, guests, staff who work continuously for the project, coordinators, and professional specialists. (4) To sustain citizen involvement in the use and management of large-scale parks, a system that includes coordinators should be developed.

Methods: Data were collected from 508 rural residents during the period from April 6 to June 6, 2009 using structured questionnaires, and analyzed using SPSS/WIN 12.0. Results: The cancer screening rate was 50.2%. The rate was significantly different according to sex, educational level, marital status, private insurance, family cancer history, smoking, drinking, perceived health status, and health concern. Men showed the highest screening rate in gastroscopy for stomach cancer, and women in pap smear test for cervical cancer. Pap smear test for cervical cancer showed the highest regular screening rate (4.3%). The average score of health promotion behavior was $2.65{\pm}0.35$. Health promotion behavior was significantly different according to cancer screening participation, health responsibility, stress management, and self actualization. Conclusions: These results suggested that there may be differences in health promotion behavior among middle-aged rural residents according to their cancer screening participation. This study will examine the changing nature of housework by analyzing participation in domestic work among 30-somethings according to generational and life cycle characteristics. To this end, 2,687 men and women in their 30s were taken from the 2020 Family Status Survey data, and a latent class analysis was conducted to categorize their participation in housework. The subjects were categorized into three groups: overall non-participation (18.05%), overall participation (59.96%), and intensive cleaning participation (21.99%). Gender, employment status, family life cycle, and attitudes about gender roles were significantly related to participation in housework. Men were more likely to be in the overall non-participation group, while women were more likely to be in the overall participation group. Individuals in the pre-formative period of the family life cycle were more likely to be in the overall non-participation group, while those in the formative and expanding periods were more likely to be in the overall participation group. The results of this study suggest that gender inequality in housework is common in the younger generation; the results also show that, in the same generation, individual participation in housework differs according to family life cycle.

The purpose of this study is to examine the factors related to leisure time to understand middle-aged one-person households. Data are from the recent survey of lifetime use in 2014 by Statistics Korea(N=1,138). Middle-aged one-person households aged 40-59 years were categorized into four groups by marital status (unmarried/married/widowed/divorced). Major results were found as follows: First, the total leisure time per day was 238 min in the middle-aged one-person households. The majority of the total leisure time was spent on 'fellowship & leisure activities'(204 min on weekdays, 283 min on weekends). Especially, time spent on real-time TV watching hours was the longest, as long as 89 min on weekday and 150 min on weekends. Second, gender differences were significant in terms of leisure time use in the middle-aged one-person households.
