Comparative Study on Maker Participation Patterns of High School Students in Korea Engineering and Non-Engineering (한국 공학계열과 비공학계열 진로 희망 고등학생들의 메이커 활동 선호 분야 비교 연구)

  • In order to cultivate the talents acquired in the fourth industrial revolution, developed countries' government are actively engaged in the campaigns encouraging K-12 students to participate in the maker movement. Maker education is regarded as one possible solution based on high tech in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, and it is spreading widely along with STEM education. In South Korea, STEAM education was actively conducted nationwide, and since 2017, STEAM and maker education have been linked showing mutual development. However, compared to STEAM education linked to the curriculum, comparison and activity-based research on maker education for teenagers is still insufficient. Therefore, this study aimed to suggest implications for STEAM education and maker education by analyzing the motivation of Korean youth to participate in maker activities. The subjects of this study are high school students who participated in maker education programs in student community for the first time in Korea. In this study, students were classified into engineering-related career group and non-engineering-related career groups based on their career intentions, and the motivation and understanding of participation in maker activities were compared. As a result of the study, male students participated more in maker education community activities than female students, and the engineering-related career group had a higher intention to participate in games, outdoor activities, IT equipment, digital production, and electrical/electronic production activities than the non-engineering-related career group. In addition, in the fields of handicraft/art, home baking, installing, and horticultural agriculture, there was no difference in the intention of participate in the engineering-related career group and the non-engineering-related career group. It was found that the engineering-related career group believed that there was a strong relationship between the maker education community activity, career exploration and future career choice, while the non-engineering-related career group believed that the relationship is less strong. It was also found that the engineering-related career group was participating more actively in the maker activity than the other group.

The Effects of Perception of Fun Factors for Participation in Park Golf on Psychological Happiness and Behavioral Intentions : Focusing on the New Silver Generation (파크골프 참여에 대한 재미요인 인지가 심리적 행복감 및 행동 의도에 미치는 영향 : 뉴실버세대를 중심으로)

  • In this study, a total of 255 New Silver Generations residing in Chungcheong Province were analyzed from September 16 to December 10, 2023 to find out how the fun factors of park golf, which has established itself as a representative silver sport, affect psychological well-being and behavioral intentions. First, it was found that the fun factor had an effect on psychological well-being. Second, it was found that the fun factor influenced the behavioral intention. Finally, it was found that the psychological well-being of park golf participants had a significant effect on the intention of action. In fact, it was found through the results of the study that park golf participants felt psychological well-being according to the fun factor and were also related to future actions. Recognizing that it is the time when it is required to understand the range of New Silver people's behavior and provide customized programs to encourage participation, it is also necessary to devise a plan to activate it as a daily sport.

  • "Interactivity refers to the possibility of an audience actively participating in the control of an artwork or representation." Andy Cameron, Dissimulations Interaction can be described as a way or function that improves the participation of audiences/viewers to being immersed into the medium itself. Until now, however, in terms of interactive cinema, interaction has not shown a sufficient participation for audiences. Specifically, audiences/viewers described that the structure of storytelling has failed to satisfy their requirements, in order to participate in the structure of storytelling. The aim of the research itself, therefore, began to ask and wonder why audiences/viewers criticised the participation which audiences/viewers are able to control storytelling, in interactive cinema, could not satisfied them in order to control and follow a storyline of interaction. In general idea, in interactive cinema, the function which allows audiences/viewers to be immersed into the storylines, must allow the immediacies of interaction. Audiences/viewers must therefore be able to satisfy the general idea of interactive cinema through controlling the directions of every choice offered. They must also be able to be immersed in the interactive storylines. Which of the prime causes can be improved or re-considered, to satisfy the participation requirements of audiences/viewers? The intention of this research also began to investigate a suitable method of storytelling within a narrative structure of interactive medium (interactive cinema). Through questioning the matter (it will be described in a later chapter), this research will be focused on the relationship between narrative structured interaction and audiences/viewers, which is of prime importance in relation to interaction. To further the research, Pilot study (experiment with the basic interactive narrative structure) was offered in order to understand and maintain a suitable method of storytelling within a narrative structure of interactive cinema and it also was explored to understand how the aim of the research would be maintained for further qualitative research.

Factors Affecting the Turnover Intention of the New Graduated Nurses (신규간호사의 이직의도에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • This study examined the factors that affect the turnover intention of newly graduated nurses. The basic data was utilized for developing a personnel resource maintenance program for newly graduated nurses. New nurses working at a general hospital in City D were surveyed from May 2016 to April 2018. The questionnaires completed by 232 volunteers were analyzed using the IBM SPSS 21.0 program, and the descriptive statistical analyses included t-tests, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Among the general characteristics of new nurses, their workload displayed significant differences in proactive behavior, organizational commitment, social support, and the turnover intention. There was a negative correlation between organizational commitment, employer support, peer support, and the turnover intention. The influential factors were organizational commitment and workload, and the explanatory power for turnover intention was 36.1%. Higher organizational commitment, along with appropriate workload, led to a lower turnover intention. Therefore, appropriate work allocation through work analysis is necessary to lower the nurses' turnover intention. Developing a program that can increase proactive behavior and implementing various intervention strategies can increase the participation of newly graduated nurses when establishing and implementing appropriate hospital policies.

A Study on Continued Use of Social Network Services : Focused on the Moderating Effect of User's SNS Literacy (Social Network Service (SNS) 지속사용에 관한 연구 : 사용자의 SNS 리터러시 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The development and expansion of communication technology in the field of information technology (IT) have changed the method and culture of communication, mediating communication among people. In particular, since social network service (SNS) has the attributes of information delivery and processing, it has a more powerful dissipating effect and influence than other existing communication methods. The role of users in SNS is important because it has the communication structure of producer-consumer, which consists of sharing, connection and participation of users. In this line, the purpose of this study is to investigate the intention for continued use of SNS by user ability. In order to explain the motivation and behavior for continued use of SNS by users, this study employed the motivation theory and post-adaptation model. The study applied 'media literacy' to the characteristics of SNS media and environment and expanded it into the concept of 'SNS literacy' to identify the moderating effect by user ability. Referred to as 'user's ability that is required to use SNS,' the SNS literacy was verified for its moderating effect with the three sub-dimensions: 'technical accessing ability,' 'understanding ability' and 'creative ability.' The major findings of this study are as follows. First, the perceived usefulness and playfulness were found to have a significant effect on the intention for continued use of SNS, showing the same result with previous studies on technology acceptance. In other words, usefulness and playfulness are variables with an explanatory power in the SNS environment as well. Second, the conceptualization of SNS literacy with accessing ability, understanding ability and creative ability was found to be valid. Third, it was verified that there was a significant difference in the SNS literacy between perceived usefulness and continued use, indicating that users with higher ability respond sensitively to usefulness and affect continued behavior. The moderating effect of SNS literacy was also verified in the relationship between perceived playfulness and intention for continued use. The results above confirm the difference in post-adaptation behavior of individuals, and are expected to provide several implications.

A Cognitive Scale Development and Psychological Model Verification of the Pursuit of Adventure Leisure Activities (모험적 여가활동의 인지 차원 척도 개발과 모형검증)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the experience of participants in the adventurous leisure activities and to examine the structural relations of the cognitive experience, the emotional experience and adherence intention. Robust quantitative measures were developed from rich qualitative data. The five dimensions selected from two preliminary tests were being away, technical enhancement, fascination with nature, challenge, and interpersonal trust. The cognitive dimensions have a significant effect on the emotional arousal - pleasure dimension. Our study also shows a positive causal relationship between emotional experience and adherence intention. Implications of this study include 1) a developed questionnaire for measuring the cognitive experience dimension of adventure leisure and establishing a foundation for future research, and 2) an identified psychological model among cognitive, emotion, and intention. We offer opportunities to better understand the psychological factors that motivate participation in adventure leisure.

A Study on the Data Service linked with Donation Campaign to improve Viewers' Intention to donate (시청자의 기부 의도 향상을 위한 기부캠페인 연동형 데이터서비스에 관한 연구)

  • According to a statistical survey, despite the continuous improvement of the economic level, the participation rate of donations is decreasing. As a cause of this phenomenon, the problem of reliability of donation organizations is a big part. In order to increase viewers' intention to donate, this study developed a donation campaign linked data service that shows information that can increase the credibility of donation organizations and storytelling of donation recipients. Specifically, a user scenario of a data service that is properly operated in conjunction with a donation campaign that is broadcast shortly was defined, and a user interface was designed by reflecting the characteristics of the TV platform. In addition, a prototype based on the DVB-MHP standard was developed to analyze the effect of the data service utilization on viewers' intention to donate.

A Study on Predictors of Entrepreneurial Intention in Different Genders: Cheonan Area in Korea (천안지역 성별간 사업의도 추측인자들에 대한 연구)

  • While entrepreneurship is touted as an opportunity for women to exploit opportunities that are often not available in the traditional workplace, the rate of participation in entrepreneurship is lower for women than it is for men. What remains relatively unclear are the reasons that make this so. This regional study addresses this deficiency by examining two lines of thought related to entrepreneurial adoption: (1) the personal traits thought to contribute to entrepreneurship, and (2) the rational decision making processes that are believed to form a basis for entrepreneurial endeavors. My results find men and women to be different in both respects, with ambiguity tolerance, internal locus of control, perceived effectiveness of entrepreneurship, and having an entrepreneurial parent all positively predicting entrepreneurial intention for men. For women, perceived effectiveness of entrepreneurship and achievement motivation predict entrepreneurial intention. Women also rate the potential reward of entrepreneurship as significantly lower than do men, possibly because women entrepreneurs objectively face more obstacles than men with regard to obtaining financing and other stakeholder relations.

  • A smart city refers to an intelligent city solving problems arising from the concentration its population using IT technology. Various services such as safety, transportation, environment, education, and medical care are provided in a smart city. Still, the degree of service experienced by the residents is lower compared to the technological maturity. Hence, the service acceptance intention factor needs to be improved. In this study, User Characteristic and Service Characteristic variables were identified separately to improve the awareness and experience of smart services among citizens of the smart city and analyze the intention of easy service acceptance. Based on the results, the present study is expected to improve citizen's quality of life and form a happy society. This improvement in citizens and society is achieved by drawing active participation from citizens and investments from the government and private enterprise through solving various problems in the city.

The Correlation Between Cognition on Cervical Cancer Screening Project of Women in Their 20s in Korea and Intention of Screening (한국 20대 여성의 자궁경부암 검진사업 인지와 수검의도 간의 관련성)

  • The purpose of the study is to survey and identify the degree of cognition of women in their 20s in Korea for cervical cancer screening which has been expanded to those aged 20 as the age for the screening since January 2016, and to reveal its correlation with intention of screening. The responses to the questionnaire of the survey conducted on total 353 females in C region were collected for the data from Nov 1, 2017 to Nov 10, 2017. The frequency analysis, chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were conducted by utilizing 353 copies of the questionnaire. According to the result, only 129(36.5%) answered that they recognized the current system of cervical cancer screening. Besides, the intention of screening in case of recognizing the cervical cancer screening project was 1.63 times higher than when it is not the case. Therefore, it is required to raise the participation of screening of women in their 20s by intensifying education and promotion on cervical cancer screening for women who are not yet in their 20s in linkage with health care projects at schools.
