It is proved that the partial differential operator $D_x + ix^q D^2_y$ is not locally solvable in any open set which intersects the line x = 0, when $q = - \frac{2l-1}{2k-1}$ is not an integer.

This paper describes partial turbulence simulation and validation of the aerodynamic pressures on building models for an open-jet small-scale 12-Fan Wall of Wind (WOW) facility against their counterparts in a boundary-layer wind tunnel. The wind characteristics pertained to the Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) mean wind speed profile and turbulent fluctuations simulated in the facility. Both in the wind tunnel and the small-scale 12-Fan WOW these wind characteristics were produced by using spires and roughness elements. It is emphasized in the paper that proper spectral density parameterization is required to simulate turbulent fluctuations correctly. Partial turbulence considering only high frequency part of the turbulent fluctuations spectrum was simulated in the small-scale 12-Fan WOW. For the validation of aerodynamic pressures a series of tests were conducted in both wind tunnel and the small-scale 12-fan WOW facilities on low-rise buildings including two gable roof and two hip roof buildings with two different slopes. Testing was performed to investigate the mean and peak pressure coefficients at various locations on the roofs including near the corners, edges, ridge and hip lines. The pressure coefficients comparisons showed that open-jet testing facility flows with partial simulations of ABL spectrum are capable of inducing pressures on low-rise buildings that reasonably agree with their boundary-layer wind tunnel counterparts.
A turbopump system composed of two pumps and one turbine is considered. The turbine composed of a nozzle and a rotor is used to drive the pumps while gas passes through the nozzle and potential energy is converted to kinetic energy, which forces the rotor blades to spin. In this study, an aerodynamic design of turbine system is investigated with some pre-determined design requirements (i.e., pressure ratio, rotational speed, required power, etc.) following Liquid Rocket Engine (L.R.E.) system specifications. For simplicity of turbine system, impulse-type rotor blades for open-type L.R.E. have been chosen. Usually, the open-type turbine system requires low mass flow-rate compared to close-type system. In this study, a partial admission nozzle is adopted to maximize the efficiency of the open-type turbine system. A design methodology of turbine system was introduced. Especially, partial admission nozzle was designed by means of simple empirical correlations between efficiency and configuration of the nozzle. Finally, a turbine system design is presented for a 10 ton thrust level of L.R.E.

A depth map can be obtained by projecting/capturing patterns of stripes using a projector-camera system and analyzing the geometric relationship between the projected patterns and the captured patterns. This is usually called structured light technique. In this paper, we propose a new multi-threading scheme for accelerating a conventional structured light technique. On CPUs and GPUs, multi-threading can be implemented by using OpenMP and CUDA, respectively. However, the problem is that their performance changes according to the computational conditions of partial processes of a structured light technique. In other words, OpenMP (using multiple CPUs) outperformed CUDA (using multiple GPUs) in partial processes such as pattern decoding and depth estimation. In contrast, CUDA outperformed OpenMP in partial processes such as rectification and pattern segmentation. Therefore, we carefully analyze the computational conditions where each outperforms the other and do use the better one in the related conditions. As a result, the proposed method can estimate a depth map in a speed of over 25 fps on $1280{\times}800$ images.
A class of normalized univalent functions f defined in an open unit disk of the complex plane is introduced and studied such that the values of the quantity zf'(z)/f(z) lies inside the evolute of a nephroid curve. The inclusion relations of the newly defined class with other subclasses of starlike functions and radius problems concerning the second partial sums are investigated. All the obtained results are sharp.
Let ${\partial}D$ be the boundary of the open unit disk D in the complex plane and $L^p({\partial}D)$ the class of all complex, Lebesgue measurable function f for which $\{\frac{1}{2\pi}{\int}_{-\pi}^{\pi}{\mid}f(\theta){\mid}^pd\theta\}^{1/p}<{\infty}$. Let P be the orthogonal projection from $L^p({\partial}D)$ onto ${\cap}_{n<0}$ ker $a_n$. For $f{\in}L^1({\partial}D)$, ${\hat{f}}(z)=\frac{1}{2\pi}{\int}_{-\pi}^{\pi}P_r(t-\theta)f(\theta)d{\theta}$ is the harmonic extension of f. Let ${\hat{P}}$ be the composition of P with the harmonic extension. In this paper, we will show that if $1
, then ${\hat{P}}:L^p({\partial}D){\rightarrow}H^p(D)$ is bounded. In particular, we will show that ${\hat{P}}$ is unbounded on $L^{\infty}({\partial}D)$.

Del-Nido cardioplegia (DNc) is a single-dose cardioplegia that is widely used in human medicine because of its long duration. In this report, we describe two cases of open-heart surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) using DNc. One dog was diagnosed with partial atrioventricular septal defect, and the other dog was diagnosed with myxomatous mitral valve disease stage D. Both dogs were treated with open-heart surgery with DNc to induce temporary cardiac arrest. No complications from DNc were observed, and the patients were discharged. Veterinary heart surgeons should consider DNc as an option for temporary cardiac arrest during open-heart surgery with CPB.

This study is to explain understanding types about the concept of a 'Region' in the 3rd grade high school students(39) through open-ended questionnaires and describe the pedagogical utilizations for this. Students' understanding types about the concept of a 'Region' are compared and then determined through two meaning agreement and association between meaning of students' understanding which is collected through open-ended questionnaires and meaning of a 'Region' which is described in high school curriculum. The results are as in the following. First, Students' understanding types about the concept of a 'Region' were divided into four categories: full, partial, ambiguous, and converted understanding. Second, The degree of right meaning agreement and association existing between two meanings is rising steadily by converted, ambiguous, partial, and full understanding. For this reason, This result can make sure the understanding degree about the concept of a 'Region' is different depending on the students. Third, Students' partial understanding, ambiguous understanding and converted understanding on region concept could be judged as misconception not fully corresponded to region concept in the curriculum explanation. Fourth, Teachers can achieve conceptual change through this misconception as a subject matter of educational dialogue for meaning change.
Partial thickness rotator cuff tears (PTRCTs) are now a well-established clinical entity, yrt there is no consensus in regards to surgical management. Recommended treatment varies widely from simple debridement of the torn tendon to subacromial decompression to excision of the degenerative tendon and repair. Surgery may be performed using an open, arthroscopically assisted (miniopen), or entirely arthroscopic procedure. The advantages and disadvantages of open and arthroscopic procedures may lie in the balance between precision and morbidity. Visualization of both the articular and bursal surfaces is mandatory to determine the level of rotator cuff disease and formulate a treatment strategy. Because these tear often are secondary finding, recognition of the primary pathology is critical. Treatment of the primary problem usually remedies the partial tear. However, when there is significant PTRCT, an arthroscopic or open repair of the diseased tendon will give the most consistent results.
