We report on the growth mechanism of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (VACNTs) using ultra thin Ni catalysts and direct current plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) system. The CNTs were grown with -600 V bias to substrate electrode and catalyst thickness variation of 0.07 nm to 3 nm. The CNT density was reduced with catalyst thickness reduction and increased growth time. Cone like CNTs were grown with ultra thin Ni thickness, and it results from an etch of carbon network by reactive etchant species and continuous carbon precipitation on CNT walls. Vertically aligned sparse CNTs can be grown with ultra thin Ni catalyst.

The preparation of low-cost, simple, and scalable electrodes is crucial for the commercialization of water electrolyzers for H2 production. Herein, we demonstrate the fabrication of cathodes through Mo-modified Zn phosphating of Ni foam (NiF) for water electrolysis, which has been largely utilized in surface coating industry. In situ growth of electrocatalytically active layers in the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) was occurred after 1 min of phosphating to form ZnNiMoPi, and subsequent thermal treatment and electrochemical activation resulted in the formation of ZnNiMoPOxHy. ZnNiMoPOxHy exhibited superior HER performance than NiF, primarily because of the increased electrochemically active surface area of ZnNiMoPOxHy compared to that of bare NiF. Although further investigations to improve the intrinsic electrochemical activity toward the HER and detailed mechanistic studies are required, these results suggest that phosphating is a promising coating method and will possibly advance the fabrication procedure of electrodes for water electrolyzers with better practical applications.

Catalytic gasification of cellulose was carried out in a U-type fixed reactor with Ni loaded MSU-F catalyst (Ni/MSU-F) and Ni loaded ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ (Ni/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$). The characteristics of the catalysts were analyzed by using X-ray diffraction, $H_2$-temperature programmed reduction, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analyses. The operation conditions of catalytic gasification reactions were $750^{\circ}$ and 0.2 equivalence ratio. Air was used as gasification agent. Catalytic gasification characteristics, such as gas yield and gas composition ($H_2$, CO, $CO_2$, $C_1-C_4$), were measured and calculated. The gas yield of Ni/MSU-F was much higher than that of Ni/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$. Especially high amount of hydrogen was produced by Ni/MSU-F.
Ni-P/C multi-layer was synthesized by electroless plating and paste coating for better corrosion and surface conductance as a metallic bipolar plate. The Ni-P layer could be synthesized with the range of 2.6~22.4 at.% P contents and it's surface morphology and corrosion resistance depend on content of P. Corrosion resistance of the Ni-P layer in sulfuric acid by electrochemical test is similar with pure Ni. Surface resistance of pure Ni after corrosion was increased about 8% compared to pure Ni. On the other hand, that of the Ni-P/C composite with 20% carbon content was increased only 1%.
The hetero junction on dielectrics and ferrite for LTCC was prepared by using NiCuZn ferrite. The shrinkage behaviour of ferrite tapes in combination with a dielectric tape was investigated. The characteristics of NiCuZn ferrite were investigated using XRD (X-ray diffractometer), Dilatometer, FE-SEM (Field emission scanning electron microscope), EDS (Energy dispersive spectrometer). NiCuZn ferrite calcined at $700^{\circ}C$ had a good apparent density and initial permeability of magnetic properties. The shrinkage rate of the NCZF700 ferrite and dielectric material was similar. The multilayer revealed dense, uniform morphologies with excellent interface quality. Diffusion of hetero junction such as dielectric and ferrite was not occuring at $900^{\circ}C$.
Tensile residual stress happen by difference of coefficients of thermal expansion between fiber and matrix is one of the serious problems in metal matrix composite(MMC). In this study, TiNi fiber was used to solve the tensile residual stress as the reinforced material. TiNi fiber improves the tensile strength of composite by occurring compressive residual stress in matrix using shape memory effect of it. Pre-strain was added to generate compressive residual stress inside TiNi/A16061 composite. It was also evaluated the effect of compressive residual stress corresponding to pre-strains variation. AE technique was used to clarify the microscopic damage behavior at high temperature and the effect of pre-strain difference of TiNi/A16061 shape memory alloy composite.

Some physical properties of Ni-Cr based alloy for porcelain veneering were compared after repeated casting without the addition of any new alloy. The specimen were cast in a centrifugal caster with an oxygen-propane torch at optimum temperature. The obtained results were as follows: 1. The yield strength and hardness of the second generation were no significant differences compared with first generation but the yield strength and hardness of the third generation slightly decrased. 2. The ultimate tensile strength and elongation appeared to decrease slightly in second, third generations. 3. The tensile fractured facets of the first generation specimen were normal in all specimen, but in the second generation there were six tensile specimen out of ten, in the third there were four tensile specimen out of ten.
Swiss), Lightspeed file(Lightspeed Tech., USA), HERO642 file(Micromega, France)로 ISO size #35까지 형성하였다. 1. Preparation time, working length의 변화량, canal blockage, canal aberration, canal transportation에 있어서 Ni-Ti file이 stainless steel file에 비하여 우수하였다(p<0.05).
