Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors affecting the social competence of school-aged children according alcohol consumption by their parents. Methods: The participants were 558 5th grade elementary school students. Data were collected using structured questionnaires from September 17 to October 2 2013, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Stepwise multiple regression analysis with the SPSS PC+ 21.0 program. Results: Participants were classified into three groups according to alcohol use; Non-use parent group (52.7%), social use parent group (31.0%), and problem use parent group (16.3%). Participants whose parents were problem users had significantly lower scores on emotional awareness and expression (F=14.45, p<.001), social support (F=5.82, p=.003), and social competence (F=16.33, p<.001) compared to students in the other two groups. In school-aged children with parents who were alcohol abusers, the variables that predicted social competence was friend support (66.0%). Conclusion: These results emphasize the importance of focusing on the crucial role of peer support in the development of social competence in school-aged children of parents who abuse alcohol. Further, for these children, interventions aimed at improving social support and children's emotional awareness and expression may be most beneficial.

The purpose of this research is to examine the difference between the Importance-Performance of parents' perception in an Information and Communication Technology(ICT) environment for young children. The researchers reviewed the literature looking at activating factors in an ICT setting such as young children, teachers, parents, physical environment, social support and administrative supports. As a result of Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) matrix participating with 459 parents, it was noted that the young children, physical environment and administrative support factors are the most crucial in activating ICT environment at home. This implies that fostering individual children's ICT ability is required as soon as possible to access the right information and to work on line certainly for their future.

Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 790 parents of first, fourth, and sixth grade students of J elementary school in Changwon from June 1 to 30, 2013. J elementary school did not have toothbrushing room. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects (3 items), toothbrushing room operation (3 items), and toothbrushing (7 items). Data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 program. Results: Parents of high school diploma demanded the establishment of toothbrushing room (p<0.05) and parents having undergraduate course tended to want the operation of toothbrushing room (p<0.05) and children's dental health care (p<0.05). Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate parent expectation and satisfaction with respect to pediatric inpatient care and to identify the variables related to parent satisfaction. Methods: The study was conducted in pediatric wards of a tertiary children's hospital in Korea. The participants were 361 parents of children who were inpatients. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire (The Pediatric Family Satisfaction Questionnaire) at the time of discharge. Results: The highest parent expectation domain was medical service. The parents were most satisfied with nursing service and least satisfied with general hospital service and accommodation. The parents expressed lower satisfaction with hospital facilities, equipment, noise, cleanliness, and communication by health care professionals. Parents with younger children reported higher expectation from the complete hospital service and those who had a longer length of stay reported higher expectation from the nursing service. Conclusion: To improve the quality of hospital services, we need to understand parent expectation and improve and provide clear communication. In addition, the general hospital service and accommodation should not be overlooked for improvement.

Children need oral care according to their developmental stage and accordingly, the appropriate dental treatment is different, which requires parents to have an active attitude and the applicable oral knowledge. As there is so much unreliable oral care information and PR, it is hard to find accurate information and parents are in need of a preventative oral healthcare mobile application for healthy oral care. Also, pediatric adolescent care should be focused on prevention rather than treatment and children should be instructed and educated to eat cariogenic foods as little as possible as well as told to brush before going to bed. This study designed a smart application for oral health care education to provide information and knowledge regarding oral health care for infants, oral health education, and oral health care prevention for parents of young children.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of children's age and their fathers' childrearing involvement on the social morality of young children. Methods: The data were gathered from parents who had 3-5 year old children enrolled in daycare centers and from their daycare teachers. The parents answered questions about their children's socio-demographic background and the father's childrearing involvement. And the teachers rated children's social morality. The data from a total of 245 questionnaires were analyzed by SPSS 25.0. Results: First, there was a statistically significant difference between young children's morality score and convention score. Young children's morality scores were higher than their convention scores. Second, children's age was a significant influential factor on both their moral and conventional social morality. Third, father's care-discipline had the only impact on children's conventional social morality. That is, children's social morality was higher when their fathers gave them more care and guidance. Forth, an interaction effect between children's age and father's development-support on children's conventional social morality was found. Conclusion/Implications: The results from this study suggest that a differentiated approach is needed according to the types of childrearing involvement of fathers in order to improve children's social morality.

Purpose: This study was conducted to develop and investigate the effect of a combined health promotion program for preschool children and their parents. Methods: Physical examinations were done for 993 preschoolers in 12 preschools. Their parents (n=727) completed a questionnaire on health status and health knowledge of their children and 35 teachers in preschools completed one on health knowledge of preschoolers. Based on the results of the physical examinations and survey, a combined health promotion program was developed. In order to evaluate the program, 35 teachers and 104 parents participated in the program. The effects of the program were tested and health knowledge before and after the program was analyzed. Results: Health knowledge of parents and teachers increased significantly after attending the combined health promotion program. Conclusion: In order to promote the health of preschoolers, parents and teachers need to participate in combined health programs that provide an opportunity for preschoolers to have a physical examination and their parents to learn about the health care for their children.
The purpose of the study was to investigate the differences in attitudes toward emergent literacy between mothers and fathers in relation to two types of early educational centers and to explore relationships between the parents' attitudes toward literacy and their home literacy environment. The subjects were 1626 parents (813 mothers, 813 fathers), who had three to five years old children, from 14 kindergartens and 11 daycare centers in Seoul. The questionnaire based on Kwon's instrument of emergent literacy altitude (1999) was used. The data were analyzed by two-way ANOVAS, and correlation. The results were as follows : First, there were significant differences in attitudes toward literacy between the mothers and the fathers in relation to their children's ages. The parents of three-year-old children had more positive altitudes toward literacy than ones of five-year-old. The mothers had more positive altitudes toward literacy than the fathers, excepts in reading instructions and writing development. Second, the fathers with daughters had more positive attitudes toward literacy than ones with sons. Third, the kindergarten parents had more positive attitudes toward literacy than daycare parents. Fourth, there were significantly positive correlations between the parents' attitudes toward emergent literacy for young children and their home literacy environments.
