  • This paper presents a parameter optimization method using evolutionary programming in voltage reference circuit because the designer must select appropriate parameter values of the circuit taking into consideration both powr voltage and temperature variation. In this paper, evolutionary programming is suggested as an approach for finding good parameters with which the reference voltage variation is small with respect to temperature variation. Simulation results. Simulation results show that this method is effective in circuit design.

  • The path of a flapping airfoil during upstroke and down-stroke is optimized for maximum thrust and propulsive efficiency. The periodic flapping motion in combined pitch and plunge is described using Non-Uniform B-Splines(NURBS). A gradient based algorithm is employed for optimization of the NURBS parameters. Unsteady, low speed laminar flows are computed using a Navier-Stokes solver in a parallel computing environment based on domain decomposition. It is shown that the thrust generation is significantly improved in comparison to the sinusoidal flapping motion. For a high thrust generation, the airfoil stays at a high effective angle of attack for short durations.

  • This paper presents the optimization technique for design of a CMAC network by using an evolution strategies(ES). The proposed technique is designed to find the optimal parameters of a CMAC network, which can minimize the learning error between the desired output and the CMAC network's as well as the number of memory used in the CMAC network. Computer simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

  • We consider a(worst-case) robust optimization version of the Economic Order Quantity(EOQ) model. Order setup costs and inventory carrying costs are assumed to have uncertainty in their values, and the uncertainty description of the two parameters is supposed to be given by an ellipsoidal representation. A genetic algorithm combined with Monte Carlo simulation is proposed to approximate the ellipsoidal representation. The objective function of the model under ellipsoidal uncertainty description is derived, and the resulting problem is solved by another genetic algorithm. Computational test results are presented to show the performance of the proposed method.

  • The paper describes the adaptation of evolutionary fuzzy model ins (EFM) in developing global function approximation tools for use in genetic algorithm based optimization of nonlinear structural systems. EFM is an optimization process to determine the fuzzy membership parameters for constructing global approximation model in a case where the training data are not sufficiently provided or uncertain information is included in design process. The paper presents the performance of EFM in terms of numbers of fuzzy rules and training data, and then explores the EFM based sizing of automotive component for passenger protection.

  • The computerized analysis of complicated circuits requires large memory capacity and considerable length of time. In order to enhance the efficiency of memory capacity and the executing time, Sparse Matrix is applied to the solution of simultaneous equations required for the analysis of amplification circuit. The optimization Subroutine, FMFP is utilized for the decision of optimum element parameters of an equalizer amplifier.

  • We propose a systematic method for design of fiber-optic surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensors. We used rigorous coupled wave analysis (RCWA) for analysis of the transmission spectrum, and the (1+1) evolution strategy (ES) was employed as an optimization tool. The simulation results show that the optimization method presented here is very useful in designing fiber-optic SPR sensor for strain and temperature measurement. This algorithm can be extended to another objective function with other weighting factors and optical parameters.

  • An algorithm for extracting the BJT DC model parameter values for SPICE model is proposed. The nonlinear optimization method for analyzing the device I-V data using the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is proposed and the method for calculating initial conditions of model parameters to improve the convergence characteristics is proposed. The base current and collector current obtained from the proposed method shows the root mean square error of 6.04% compared with the measured data of the PNP BJT named 2SA1980.
