  • This paper presents a high efficiency low switching PWM technique for the propulsion system of Electric car. In order to achieve the continuous voltage control to six-step and a low harmonics with low switching frequency under 500㎐, the synchronous technique is combined with a space vector overmodulation and implemented by using DSP. Improved performance and a validation of proposed method is shown by the experimental results using a 1.65MVA IGBT VVVF inverter and inertia load equivalent to 160 tons electric cars.

  • This paper proposes a power factor correction circuit with a high efficiency over a wide load range characteristics for a communication power supply. And the characteristic verification is applied to produce a design of prototype. Power factor correction circuit can reduce conduction losses by applying Bridgeless Boost Converter for efficiency. Over a wide load range to maintain the efficient, the control method of a PWM controller is divided by two sections according to the load area. In the low-load region, it was reduced switching losses by applying the critical conduction mode control method. On the other hand, in the heavy-load area, the hysteresis current control method is used to maintain the high efficiency over a wide load range by limiting the peak noise of the inductor.

  • In this paper, a new single phase voltage sag/swell compensator using direct power conversion is introduced. A new compensator consists of input/output filter, series transformer and direct ac-ac converter, which is a single-phase back-to-back PWM converter without dc-link capacitors. Advantages of the proposed compensator include: simple power circuit by eliminating dc-link electrolytic capacitors and thereby, improved reliability and increased life time of the entire compensator; simple PWM strategy to compensate voltage sag/swell at the same time and reduced switching losses in the ac-ac converter. Further, the proposed scheme is able to adopt simple switch commutation method without requiring complex four-step commutation method commonly required in the direct power conversion. Simulation results are shown to demonstrate the advantages of the new compensator and PWM strategy.

  • In this paper, new photovoltaic system that has 3 step output voltage is proposed. This system use new PWM method named as equivalent area PWM. This method is based on the criterion of the calculation that each area of voltage pulses equals to the integrated value of each time shared division of the reference sinusodial waveform to make a PWM pulse. We applyed this method to 2 step inverter and 3 step inverter and analyzed waveform using FFT.

  • In this paper space vector PWM method is proposed to implement an indirect vector control for an induction motor with excellent dynamic stability and performance in a very low speed resin. The proposed method can detect the instantaneous speed in very low speed resin and a speed control system with robustness to the load disturbance, modeling error, and measured noise is suggest to decrese their influence on the control system.

  • The magnetic levitation system has great advantages, such as little friction, no lubrication, no noise and so on. But the magnetic levitation system need a stabilizing controller because it is a unstable, system in natural and it need a sensor for displacement measurement to control the system. In this paper, we proposed a sensorless method to measure the gap between the magnetic pole and the levitated object with application the inductance characteristic which vary according to gap. We made a driving circuit which supply simultaneously the control input PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) signal and the carrier PWM signal to estimate the gap. Because the inductance is a function of gap, and the current of the carrier signal is a function of the inductance, we could estimate the gap from the measurement of the current of the carrier signal. Finally, we investigated the validity of the proposed method through the experimental results.

  • Th is paper presents a systematical approach to study carrier based PWM techniques (CPWM) in diode-clamped and cascade multilevel inverters by using the proposed multi-modulating pattern method. This method is based on the vector correlation between CPWM and space vector PWM (SVPWM) and applicable to both multilevel inverter topologies. The CPWM technique can be described in a general mathematical equation, and obtain the same outputs similarly as of corresponding SVPWM. Control of the fundamental voltage, vector redundancies and phase redundancies in multilevel inverter can be formulated separately in the CPWM equation. The deduced CPWM can obtain a full vector redundancy control, and fully utilize phase redundancy in a cascade inverter. In the paper, CPWM equations and corresponding algorithm for generating multi-modulating signals will be performed, in which SVPWM attributes will be presented by corresponding controllable factors.

  • Conventional SVPWM method has null switching vectors. Null switching vectors cause high common-mode voltage in induction motor drive system. The newly developed common mode voltage reduction PWM technique don't use zero switching state for inverter control. It is realized by changing software without additional hardware. Simulation and experimental results show that proposed method are reduced common mode voltage more than conventional method.

  • This paper describes a fuzzy PI control method to control the output voltage of three-phase Z-source PWM rectifier. The proposed fuzzy PI controller is a single input fuzzy with its fuzzification, inferences and de-fuzzification processes. The proposed method adjusts the Kp and Ki in real time in order to find the most suitable Kp and Ki for PI controller and to simplify the controller design. The PI portion of DC voltage controller is controlled by fuzzy method. The simulation is performed with PSIM and MATLAB/SIMULINK and is verified the validity of the proposed approach.
