  • Tilting train has been developed to increase the operational speed of the trains on conventional lines which have many curves. This train are tilted at curves to compensate for unbalanced carbody centrifugal acceleration to a greater extent than compensation produced by the track cant, so that passengers do not feel centrifugal acceleration and thus trains can run at higher speed at curves. This paper show that results of normal capacity calculations of the electrical equipments such as Main transformer, PWM converter, VVVF inverter, traction motor in TTX(tilting train express) with maximum operation speed 180 km/h

The speed control of induction motor using neural networks (신경회로망을 이용한 유도전동기 속도제어)

  • The paper presents a speed control system of vector controlled induct- ion motor using neural networks. The main feature of proposed speed control system is a Neural Network Controller(NNC) which supplies torque current to induction motor and Neural Network Emulator(NNE) which captures the forward dynamics of induction motor. A back propagation training algorithm is employed to train the NNE and NNC. In order to determine the NNC output error, plant(induction motor) output error can be back propagated through the NNE. The NNC and NNE for speed control of vector controlled induction motor is carried out by TMS320C30 DSP and IGBT current regulated PWM inverter. Through computer simulation and experimental results, it is verified that proposed speed control system is robust to the load variation. (author). refs., figs.

  • This paper describes current controlled PWM technique of PM synchronous motors for a wide variety of speed control applications. They are however limited in their ability to operate in the power limited regime where the available torque is reduced as the speed is increased above its base value. This paper reviews the operation of the PMSM drives when they are constrained to be within the permissible envelope of maximum inverter voltage and current to produce the rated power and to provide this with the highest attainable rotor speed. The optimal field-weakening control algorithm is the use of phase current and d-axis current feedback to reduce of error between the d-axis current command and real current and to improve the torque characteristics. The improved torque characteristics of speed control strategy with optimal field weakening control algorithm is analyzed and the performance is investigated by the computer simulation and experimental results.   • Generally in solar air conditioning system, the diode rectifier is used to build up DC link voltage from AC source. The diode rectifier is simple and cheap but it brings out the problems of low power factor and plentiful harmonics at the AC source. Also It can degrade the utilization rate of solar energy because the reverse of power flow cannot be made. Hence, in this paper to overcome the peak power problems in summer and to endure good AC input characteristics, solar air conditioning system using the PWM converter is proposed. A high input power factor of 97[%] and an efficiency of 98[%] are also obtained. The harmonic guide lines of proposed rectifier is no interfered with inverter switching, resulting in a simple, reliable and low cost ac to dc converters in comparison with the boost type current improving circuits.

Anti-windup Integral-Proportional Controller for Variable-Speed Motor Drives

  • The windup phenomenon appears and degrades control performance when a controller with integrating action is used and plant input is limited. An anti-windup integal-proportional(IP) controller is proposed for the variable-speed moter drives and it is experimentally applied to the speed control of a vector-controlled induction moter driven by a pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage source inverter (VSI). The consistency range of the IP controller is firstly derived and the intergal state is controlled to salisfy always the consistency range according to whether the the controller output is saturated or not. Although the operating condition like moter load or speed command is changed under the limited plant input, It is expermentally verified that the speed response has much improved performance, such as no overshoot and fast settling time, and the maximmum plant input is also effectively utilized.

  • In this paper, a mathematical model of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) fed by inverter with Direct Torque Control (DTC) Dynamic and steady state characteristics of PMSM is simulated and analyzed: electro-magnetic torque response, speed response, locus of the stator flux linkage. It is mathematically proven that the increase of electromagnetic torque in a permanent magnet motor is proportional the increase of the angle between the stator and rotor flux linkages, and, therefore, the fast torque response can be obtained by adjusting the rotating speed of the stator flux linkage as fast as possible. The simulation results verify the proposed control and also show that the torque response under DTC is much faster than the PWM current controlled drive.

Design of an FPGA Based Controller for Delta Modulated Single-Phase Matrix Converters

  • A FPGA based delta modulated single phase matrix converter has been developed that may be used in both cyclo-converters and cyclo-inverters. This converter is ideal for variable speed electrical drives, induction heating, fluorescent lighting, ballasts and high frequency power supplies. The peripheral input-output and FPGA interfacing have been developed through Xilinx 9.2i, to generate delta modulated trigger pulses for the converter. The controller has been relieved of the time consuming computational task of PWM signal generation by implementing the method of trigger pulse generation in a FPGA by using Hardware Description Language VHDL in Xilinx. The trigger circuit has been tested qualitatively by observing various waveforms on an oscilloscope. The operation of the proposed system has been found to be satisfactory.

Driving Performance Experimental Analysis of Series Chopper Based EV Power Train

  • In this paper, the series chopper based power train for electric vehicle is proposed for aiming the increase of one battery charge driving distance. Both the motor test bench based experiments and the chassis dynamo based experiments are tested and then analyzed for EV driving performance that the proposed power train with SAZZ chopper and Quasi-PAM control scheme is compared with or without the series chopper. It is confirmed through two kinds of experimental analyses that the series chopper power train for EV can be useful to extend the driving distance if the high efficiency and the low weight of chopper are satisfied.

  • 대화면 LCD TV (40인치 이상 LCD TV)에서 LCD 인버터의 가격 경쟁력을 위해 인버터 하나로 다수의 램프를 병렬 구동하면서 Two Stage System 구조인 Super IP Board 형태의 인버터 회로가 많이 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존 Super IP Board의 인버터 구동 방식인 PWM 제어 방식을 분석하고, 문제점으로 제기되었던 Half-Bridge단 스위치의 하드 스위칭과 과도한 Circulating Energy 등의 문제를 해결한 새로운 Pulse Count Modulation (PCM) 방식을 적용한 인버터를 제안하고 이론적 및 실험적 검증을 통해 제안된 방식의 우수성을 확인하였다.

  • 기존 LCD 백라이트 인버터 시스템은 램프 관전류 제어를 위해 인버터 구동 펄스 폭의 크기를 변조하는 PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) 방식이다. 이 경우 시비율의 폭을 가변함에 따라 효율 저감 및 회로 발열 등의 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 인버터를 고정 주파수 및 50% 고정 시비율로 구동하고 램프 관전류 제어를 위해 링크전압을 제어하는 새로운 방식을 제안한다. 이를 통해 효율 증대, EMI 성능의 향상 및 전체 시스템의 원가저감 효과를 획득 할 수 있다.
