  • In this paper, we propose the real-time system that detects and recognizes the human face by PTZ camara. Generally, Face detection algorithms are disturbed by variable illuminations in a image. To avoid those, we use the robust adaboost algorithm for face detection. For recognition, we use PCA algorithm. we focus on the real-time system. It will be necessary in many applications.

  • In this paper, we propose a system that detects the current speaker in multi-speaker video conference by using lip motion. First, the system detects the face and lip area of each of the speakers using face color and shape information. Then, to detect the current speaker, it calculates the change between the current frame and the previous frame. To accomplish this, we used two CCD cameras. One is a general CCD camera, the other is a PTZ camera controlled by RS-232C serial port. The result is a system capable of detecting the face of current speaker in a video feed with more than three people, regardless of orientation of the faces. With this system, it only takes 4 to 5 seconds to zoom in on the speaker from the initial image. Also, it is amore efficient image transmission system for such things as video conference and internet broadcasting because it offers a face area screen at a resolution of 320X240, while at the same time providing a whole background screen.

  • In this paper, we implement a real time speaker close-up system using lip motion information from input images having some people. After detecting a speaker from input moving pictures through one color CCD camera, the other camera closes up the speaker by using lip motion information. The implemented system detects a face and lip area of each person by means of a facial color and a morphological information, and then finds out a speaker by using lip area variation. A PTZ(Pan/Tilt/Zoom) camera is used in order to close up the detected speaker and it is controlled by RS-232C serial port. Consequently, we can exactly detect a speaker in input moving pictures including more than three people.

  • This paper proposed a framework for handover method in continuously tracking a person of interest across cooperative pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras. The algorithm here is based on a robust non-parametric technique for climbing density gradients to find the peak of probability distributions called the mean shift algorithm. Most tracking algorithms use only one cue (such as color). The color features are not always discriminative enough for target localization because illumination or viewpoints tend to change. Moreover the background may be of a color similar to that of the target. In our proposed system, the continuous person tracking across cooperative PTZ cameras by mean shift tracking that using color and shape histogram to be feature distributions. Color and shape distributions of interested person are used to register the target person across cameras. For the first camera, we select interested person for tracking using skin color, cloth color and boundary of body. To handover tracking process between two cameras, the second camera receives color and shape cues of a target person from the first camera and using linear color calibration to help with handover process. Our experimental results demonstrate color and shape feature in mean shift algorithm is capable for continuously and accurately track the target person across cameras.

  • In this paper, based on the information about navigation system of UAV with PTZ camera and 3D topography, algorithm able to show us in real-time UAV's geographical shooting location and automatically calculate superficial measure of the shooting area is proposed. And the method that can automatically estimate whether UAV is allowed to shoot a specific area is shown. In case of an UAV's shooting attempt at the specific area, obtainability of valid image depends on not only UAV's location but also information of 3D topography. As a result of the study, Ground Control Center will have real-time information about whether UAV can shoot the needed topography. Therefore, accurate remote flight control will be possible in real-time. Furthermore, the algorithm and the method of estimating shooting probability can be applied to pre-flight simulation and set of flight route.

  • The conventional object tracking techniques using PTZ camera detects object movements by analyzing acquired image. However, this technique requires expensive hardware devices to perform a complex image processing. And it is occasionally hard to detect object movements, if an acquired image is low quality or image acquisition is impossible. In this paper, we proposes a smart security CCTV system applying to wireless sensor network technique based on IEEE 802.15.4 standard to overcome the problems of conventional object tracking technique, which enables to track suspicious objects by detecting object movements and GPS data in sensor node. This system enables an efficient control of PTZ camera to observe a wide area, decreasing image processing complexity. Also, wireless sensor network is implemented using mesh networks to increase the efficiency of installing sensor node.

  • This paper presents a panorama background generation and object tracking technique using a Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera. The proposed method estimates local motion vectors rapidly using phase correlation matching at the prespecified multiple local regions, and it makes minimized estimation error by vector quantization. We obtain the required image patches, by estimating the overlapped region using local motion vectors, we can then project the images to cylinder and realign the images to make the panoramic image. The object tracking is performed by extracting object's motion and by separating foreground from input image using background subtraction. The proposed PTZ-based object tracking method can efficiently generated a stable panorama background, which covers up to 360 degree FOV The proposed algorithm is designed for real-time implementation and it can be applied to many commercial applications such as object shape detection and face recognition in various surveillance video systems.

  • In this paper, we have implemented the DVR system which is controlled far away, and added a function of TCP/IP Network for image data and control signal transmission, the DVR system has the advantage of easy to search and of no loss in stored quality. The continuously declining price of the hard drive presents the opportunity for the DVR system to displace the analog system. Also, with spread of the internet the needs of PC based the DVR system increase. Therefore, we have implemented DVR system within a function of network. When obtained image through the PTZ camera is transmitted to digital form, very large space of storage is required, hence image compression is essential. We use JPEG2000 for compression of image. JPEG2000 adopt DWT by means of transform. DWT concentrates important information of image on subband and has feature of multi-resolution. It is effective in order to express image. Thus JPEG2000 is suitable for image compression in DVR system. The significance of this paper is to design the DVR system which is controlled through TCP/IP network and to implement transmission of image compression using JPEG2000.

  • Human detection techniques in outdoor scenes have been studied for a long time to watch suspicious movements or to keep someone from danger. However there are few methods of human detection in overhead or near-field view scenes, while lots of human detection methods in far-field view scenes have been developed. In this paper, a set of five features useful for human detection in overhead view scenes and another set of four useful features in near-field view scenes are suggested. Eight feature-candidates are first extracted by analyzing geometrically varying characteristics of moving objects in samples of video sequences. Then highly contributed features for each view scene to classifying human from other moving objects are selected among them by using a neural network learning technique. Through experiments with hundreds of moving objects, we found that each set of features is very useful for human detection and classification accuracy for overhead view and near-field view scenes was over 90%. The suggested sets of features can be used effectively in a PTZ camera based surveillance system where both the overhead and near-field view scenes appear.
