  • Objective of this research was to determine the effect of application level of fused superphosphate (FSPP) in root media containing granular micronutrient fertilizers (MF) on growth of marigold 'Orange boy' in plug culture. To achieve this, three granular micronutrient mixes such as MF 1, MF 2, and MF 3 were produced and incorporated into three root media, peatmoss+composted pine bark (1:1, v/v, PB), peatmoss+composted rice-hull (1:1, v/v, PR), and peatmoss+composted saw-dust (1:1, v/v, PS), at a rate of $0.3g{\cdot}L^{-1}$. Elevated application level of FSPP in PS medium containing each of MF resulted in increase of plant growth such as plant height, plant width, stem diameter, fresh weight and dry weight at 35days after sowing. The dry weight in the treatment of MF 1, MF 2, MF 3, and control fertilized with $9.0g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ of FSPP were 0.066g, 0.103g, 0.077g, and 0.095g per plant, respectively. These results indicated that each of MF affected marigold plug seedlings differently. The application level of FSPP resulted in the heaviest fresh and dry weight in PR medium were $9.0g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ in MF 1, $3.0g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ in MF 2, $9.0g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ in MF 3, and $6.0g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ in control. Elevated application level of FSPP in PB medium containing each of the micronutrient mix increased fresh and dry weight. The general trends in response of plant growth to elevated FSPP were linear and quadratic. The dry weight in the treatment of MF 1, MF 2, MF 3, and control fertilized with $9.0g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ of FSPP in PB medium were 0.131g, 0.104g, 0.137g, and 0.111g per plant at 35days after sowing. These results indicated that MF 1 and MF 3 performed better than MF 2 and control treatments in growth of marigold plug seedlings.

  • Objective: To investigate the safety and efficacy of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE), combined with portal vein embolization (PVE), and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) sequential therapy in treating patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: Patients with inoperative HCC were treated by two methods: in the study group with TACE first, then PVE a week later, and then TACE+PVE every two months as a cycle, after 2~3 cycles finally HIFU was given; in the control group only TACE+PVE was given. Response (CR+PR), and disease control rate (CR+PR+SD), side effects, overall survival and time to progress were calculated. Results: Main side effects of both groups were nausea and vomiting. No treatment related death occurred. In the study group, 32 patients received TACE for overall 67 times, PVE 64 times, and HIFU 99 times; on average 2.1, 2 and 3.1 times for each patient, respectively. In the control group, 36 patients were given TACE 78 times and PVE 74 times, averaging 2.2 and 2.1 times per patient. Effective rate: 25.0% in study group and 8.3% in control group (p>0.05). Disease control rates were 71.9% and 44.4%, respectively (p<0.05). In patients with portal vein tumor thrombus, the rate reduced over 1/2 after treatment was 69.2%(9/13) in the study and 21.4%(3/14) in the control group (p<0.05). Rate of AFP reversion or decrease over 1/2 was 66.7%(16/24) in study and 37%(10/27) (p<0.05) in control group. Median survival time: 16 months in study and 10 months in control group. PFS was 7months in study and 3 months in control group. Log-rank test suggested that statistically significant difference exists between two groups (p=0.024). 1-, 2- and 3-year survival rates were 56.3%, 18.8% and 9.3% in study, while 30.6%, 5.6% and 0 in control group, respectively, with statistically significant difference between two groups (by Log-rank, p = 0.014). Conclusions: The treatment of TACE+PVE+HIFU sequential therapy for HCC increases response rate, prolong survival, and could thus be a safe and effective treatment for advanced cases.

  • This paper presents performance comparison study of current control methods for grid connected inverter (GCI) system. Different current control methods have been developed for GCI systems and each controller has its own advantages and limitations. Steady state and transient dynamic performance of the GCI current controllers are compared in this paper. The performance of the proposed command feedforward control (CFFC) and disturbance rejection control (DRC) is analyzed before and after application to all GCI current controllers. The proposed CFFC and DRC control algorithms is analyzed in a frequency domain and the simulation and experiment models of each GCI current control methods are developed for verification of the performance.

  • We demonstrate a simple and effective method to accurately position silicon nanowires (Si NWs) at desirable locations using drop-casting of Si NW inks; this process is suitable for applications in nanoelectronics or nanophotonics. Si NWs were assembled into a lithographically patterned sacrificial photoresist (PR) template by means of capillary interactions at the solution interface. In this process, we varied the type of solvent of the SiNW-containing solution to investigate different assembly behaviors of Si NWs in different solvents. It was found that the assembly of Si NWs was strongly dependent on the surface energy of the solvents, which leads to different evaporation modes of the Si NW solution. After Si NW assembly, the PR template was cleanly removed by thermal decomposition or chemical dissolution and the Si NWs were transferred onto the underlying substrate, preserving its position without any damage. This method enables the precise control necessary to produce highly integrated NW assemblies on all length scales since assembly template is easily fabricated with top-down lithography and removed in a simple process after bottom-up drop-casting of NWs.

  • The front-end system having a capable of 2x reading and writing of BD-R/Ra/ROM is developed. Its readability is improved by adopting 5-tap adaptive partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) with the PR(a,b,c,d,e) type channel. Due to the proposed PRML, less than $2{\times}10^{-4}$ of the bit error rate (BER) is achieved with radial and tangential tilt margin of over${\mp}0.6{\circ}$ on 25GB disc in 2x speed. The method of an optimum Power control (OPC) for stable writing of various BD-R/RE is proposed. The developed chip contains 14-million transistors in a $60mm^2$ dies, and is fabricated in $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology.

  • The sub-bitline (SBL) sensing voltage of a cell and total cell array can be measured by the method of SBL voltage evaluation method. The MOSAID tester can collect all SBL signals. The hierarchical bitline of unit cell array block is composed of the cell array of 2k rows and 128 columns, which is divided into 32 cell array sections. The unit cell array section is composed of the cell array of 64 rows and 128 columns. The average sensing voltage with 2Pr value of $5{\mu}C/cm^2$ and SBL capacitance of 40fF is about 700mV at 3.0V operation voltage. That is high compensation method for capacitor size degradation effect. Thus allowed minimum 2Pr value for high density Ferroelectric RAM (FeRAM) can move down to about less than $5{\mu}C/cm^2$.

  • In this paper, we propose a cooperative multi-relay scheme for a secondary system to achieve spectrum access along with a primary system. In the primary network, a primary transmitter (PT) transmits the primary signal to a primary receiver (PR). In the secondary network, N secondary transmitter-receiver pairs (ST-SR) selected by a centralized control unit (CCU) are ready to assist the primary network. In particular, in the first time slot, PT broadcasts the primary signal to PR, which is also received by STs and SRs. At STs, the primary signal is regenerated and linearly combined with the secondary signal by assigning fractions of the available power to the primary and secondary signals respectively. The combined signal is then broadcasted by STs in a predetermined order. In order to achieve diversity gain, STs, SRs and PT will combine received replicas of the primary signal, using selection combining technique (SC). We derive the exact outage probability for the primary network as well as the secondary network. The simulation results are presented to verify the theoretical analyses.

  • Riboflavin caused induction of systemic resistance in chickpea against Fusarium wilt and charcoal rot diseases. The dose effect of 0.01 to 20 mM riboflavin showed that 1.0 mM concentration was sufficient for maximum induction of resistance; higher concentration did not increase the effect. At this concentration, riboflavin neither caused cell death of the host plant nor directly affected the pathogen's growth. In time course observation, it was observed that riboflavin treated chickpea plants were inducing resistance 2 days after treatment and reached its maximum level from 5 to 7 days and then decreased. Riboflavin had no effect on salicylic acid(SA) levels in chickpea, however, riboflavin induced plants found accumulation of phenols and a greater activities of phenylalanine ammonia lyase(PAL) and pathogenesis related(PR) protein, peroxidase was observed in induced plant than the control. Riboflavin pre-treated plants challenged with the pathogens exhibited maximum activity of the peroxidases 4 days after treatment. Molecular weight of the purified peroxidase was 42 kDa. From these studies we demonstrated that riboflavin induced resistance is PR-protein mediated but is independent of salicylic acid.

  • The recogition that the vast majority of patients with small cell lung cancer have distant metastatic disease at the time of diagnosis lead to the use of systemic chemotherapy and consequent major improvement in survival, but recently evaulated treatment strategies, integration of large field chest irradiation with chemotherapy lead to the improved the local control and relapse free survival in limited SCLC. Therefore, it is logical to combine the two modalities in an effort to maximize the therapeutic effect. Authors performed the combination chemotherapy of CAV (Cyclophosphamide, Adriamycin, an6 Vincristine) and radiotherapy of primary tumor and regional lymphatics with prophylatic cranial irradiation in 42 patients of limited SCLC, from Mar. 1978 to Dec. 1982 Seoul National University Hospital. The results are as follows : 1. CR and PR after 2 cycles chemotherapy is $7\%$ and $43\%$, respectively however, subsequent response to radiotherapy is $38\%$ and $43\%$ in CR and PR. 2. Overall median survival peroid is 8.6 months. 3. 1 year and 2 years survival rate is $46.3\%$ and $20.5\%$, respectively. 4. Incidence of proven brain metastasis is $5\%$.
