  • The feasibility of the particle-in-cell (PIC) method is assessed to simulate the non-collective phenomena like non-collective Thomson scattering (TS). The non-collective TS in the laser-plasma interaction, which is related to the single-particle behavior, is simulated through a 2D relativistic PIC code (XOOPIC). For this simulation, a non-collective TS is emitted from a 50-50 DT plasma with electron density and temperature of ne = 3.00 × 1013 cm-3 and Te = 1000 eV, typical for the edge plasma at ITER measured by ETS system, respectively. The wavelength, intensity, and FWHM of the laser applied in the ETS system are λi,0 = 1.064 × 10-4 cm, Ii = 2.24 × 1017 erg=s·㎠, and 12.00 ns, respectively. The electron density and temperature predicted by the PIC simulation, obtained from the TS scattered wave, are ne,TS = 2.91 × 1013 cm-3 and Te,TS = 1089 eV, respectively, which are in accordance with the input values of the simulated plasma. The obtained results indicate that the ambiguities rising due to the contradiction between the PIC statistical collective mechanism caused by the super-particle concept and the non-collective nature of TS are resolved. The ability and validity to use PIC method to study the non-collective regimes are verified.

  • This paper proposes a confronting feedback control structure and controllers for positive output elementary super lift Luo converters (POESLLCs) working in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). The POESLLC offers the merits like high voltage transfer gain, good efficiency, and minimized coil current and capacitor voltage ripples. The POESLLC working in DCM holds the value of not having right half pole zero (RHPZ) in their control to output transfer function unlike continuous conduction mode (CCM). Also the DCM bestows superlative dynamic response, eliminates the reverse recovery troubles of diode and retains the stability. The proposed control structure involves two controllers respectively to control the voltage (outer) loop and the current (inner) loop to confront the time-varying ON/OFF characteristics of variable structured systems (VSSs) like POESLLC. This study involves two different combination of feedback controllers viz. the proportional integral controller (PIC) plus sliding mode controller (SMC) and the fuzzy logic controller (FLC) plus SMC. The state space averaging modeling of POESLLC in DCM is reviewed first, then design of PIC, FLC and SMC are detailed. The performance of developed controller combinations is studied at different working states of the POESLLC system by MATLAB-Simulink implementation. Further the experimental corroboration is done through implementation of the developed controllers in PIC 16F877A processor. The prototype uses IRF250 MOSFET, IR2110 driver and UF5408 diodes. The results reassured the proficiency of designed FLC plus SMC combination over its counterpart PIC plus SMC.

And we have compared its BER performance with SIC's(Successive Interference Cancellation) and with PIC's(Parallel Interference Cancellation), which are the representative schemes in the subtractive interference cancellation. From the results, it is shown that PlC or HIC is effective for high data-rate users and SIC of HIC for low data-rate users to eliminate the interference. Regardless of the data rate, it is reasonable to use the HIC structure for WCDMA system to satisfy all of users' services. The reason is that the SIC scheme in front of HIC can guarantee the performance of low power users to cancel the serious interference caused by the high power users, while PIC in the rear of it can guarantee the performance of high power users to cancel the interference caused by the low power users.

  • In this study, the PIC design method with machine learning that automatically assigning different stacking sequences according to loading types was applied bumper beam. The input value and labels of the training data for applying machine learning were defined as coordinates and loading types of reference elements that are part of the total elements, respectively. In order to compare the 2D and 3D implementation method, which are methods of representing coordinate value, training data were generated, and machine learning models were trained with each method. The 2D implementation method is divided FE model into each face and generating learning data and training machine learning models accordingly. The 3D implementation method is training one machine learning model by generating training data from the entire finite element model. The hyperparameter were tuned to optimal values through the Bayesian algorithm, and the k-NN classification method showed the highest prediction rate and AUC-ROC among the tuned models. The 3D implementation method revealed higher performance than the 2D implementation method. The loading type data predicted through the machine learning model were mapped to the finite element model and comparatively verified through FE analysis. It was found that 3D implementation PIC bumper beam was superior to 2D implementation and uni-stacking sequence composite bumper.

  • This paper presents the practical implementation of an over-temperature protection system for power semiconductor devices. In the proposed system, temperature variation is provided with just using $R_{ds(on)}$ characteristics of power MOSFET, while extra device such as a temperature sensor or an over-temperature detection transistor is needed to monitor the temperature in the conventional method. The proposed protection technique is experimentally tested on IRF840 power MOSFET. The PIC microcontroller PIC16F877A is used for the implementation of the proposed protection algorithm. The built-in 10-bit A/D converter is utilized for detecting voltage variance between a drain and a source of IRF840. The induced temperature-resistance relationship based on the measured drain-source voltage, supplies a gate signal to the power MOSFET. If detected temperature's voltage exceeds any a protection temperature's voltage, the microcontroller removes the trigger signal from the power MOSFET. These test results showed satisfactory performances of the proposed protection system in term of accuracy within 1.5%.

  • The reaction of peroxo vanadium(V) complexes, $VO(O_2)_2(pic)^{2-}$, $VO(O_2)(nta)^{2-}$, and $VO(O_2)(dipic)^-$ with thiolato-cobalt(III), $(en)_2Co(SCH_2CH_2NH_2)^{2+}$ resulted in an oxygen-atom transfer in aqueous solutions. Rate constants ($M^{-1}S^{-1}$) for these reactions were (35$\pm$1), $(4.8{\pm}0.4){\times}10^{-2}$ , and $(8.6{\pm}0.5){\times}10^{-4}$, respectively. The coordinate peroxide was activated in the oxygen-atom-transfer reaction of $VO(O_2)_2(pic)^{2-}$, but it is not the case for VO(O$_2$) $(nta)^{2-}$ and VO(O$_2$) $(dipic)^-$. In this paper, we proposed that the direct attack of an electrophilic peroxide to a nucleophilic substrate occurs in the oxygen-atom transfer pathway of peroxo vanadium(V) complexes.

  • In this paper, two interference suppression schemes (LCCMA, HIC) applied to the MC-CDMA system were proposed. The proposed schemes have advantages that it don't requires the other's spreading code and can be used even in mobile. The proposed HIC combines the proposed interference suppressor with PIC. Simulation is performed in various environments using the Monte Carlo method. Simulation results show that there is 1.4~3 times capacity increase in corresponding simulation environments. Also this scheme can take advantage of path diversity whereas the system using EGC, MRC, and PIC cannot. Therefore, as the number of path increase, a considerable performance improvement can be attained.

  • The purpose of the project was intended to show an application method of RTOS to PICmicro with limited resources with several tasks controlling the peripheral devices. The application runs on the designed PIC16F87x evaluation board with a bootloader burned so the application program can be easily downloaded using the serial communication without using the ROM writer. Thus, it would also be a good example to use for instructional or tutorial purposes for PICmicro education. The demo shows a useful examples who wish to use the real time operation system in their own projects.

  • We have investigated the influence of system composition and preparation conditions on the particle size of vitamin E acetate (VE)-loaded nanoemulsions prepared by PIC(phase inversion composition) emulsification. This method relies on the formation of very fine oil droplets when water is added to oil/surfactant mixture. The oil-to-emulsion ratio content was kept constant (5 wt.%) while the surfactant-to-oil ratio (%SOR) was varied from 50 to 200 %. Oil phase composition (vitamin E to medium chain ester ratio, %VOR) had an effect on particle size, with the smallest droplets being formed below 60 % of VOR. Food-grade non-ionic surfactants (Tween 80 and Span 80) were used as an emulsifier. The effect of f on the droplet size distribution has been studied. In our system, the droplet volume fraction, given by the oil volume fraction plus the surfactant volume fraction, was varied from 0.1 to 0.3. The droplet diameter remains less than 350 nm when O/S is fixed at 1:1. The droplet size increases gradually as the increasing the volume fraction. Particle size could also be reduced by increasing the temperature when water was added to oil/surfactant mixture. By optimizing system composition and homogenization conditions we were able to form VE-loaded nanoemulsions with small mean droplet diameters (d < 50 nm). The PIC emulsification method therefore has great potential for forming nanoemulsion-based delivery systems for food, personal care, and pharmaceutical applications.
