New $\pi$-conjugated multi-branched molecules were synthesized through the Homer-Emmons reaction using alkyl-substituted, 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene-based, thiophenyl aldehydes and octaethyl benzene-l,2,4,5-tetrayltetrakis(methylene) tetraphosphonate as the core unit; these molecules have all been fully characterized. The two multi-branched conjugated molecules exhibited excellent solubility in common organic solvents and good self-film forming properties. The semiconducting properties of these multi-branched molecules were also evaluated in organic field-effect transistors (OFET). With octyltrichlorosilane (OTS) treatment of the surface of the $SiO_2$ gate insulator, two of the crystalline conjugated molecules, 7 and 8, exhibited carrier mobilities as high as $2.4({\pm}0.5){\times}10^{-3}$ and $1.3({\pm}0.5){\times}10^{-3}cm^2V^{-1}s^{-1}$, respectively. The mobility enhancement of OFET by light irradiation ($\lambda$ = 436 nm) supported the promising photo-controlled switching behavior for the drain current of the device.

We have prepared polyster/nanQhybridized polyimide films in the range of 1~9 wt% of organophilic synthetic layered silicate (STN). Firstly, poly(amic acid)/STN nanocomposite solutions were prepared via solution blending method in DMAc or THF/MeOH solution, and then cast on the polyester film followed by imidization reaction, thermal and chemical method repestively. XRD and TEM experiment showed that the STN was fully exfoliated through the polyimide matrix. Surface morphologies of nanohybridized polyimide films were characterized by AFM and thermal, mechanical properties were also confirmed by TGA, DMA and UTM each. And also, the water vapor permeabilities highly depended on the content of STN. The sample from chemical imidization route and THF/MeOH solvent system showed better water vapor barrier properties than thermal one and DMAc system.

We synthesized dendrimers containing light switchable units, azobenzene group. And the dendrimer containing 48 pyridinepropanol functional end group, which could form a complex structure with metal ions was synthesized. To apply to the molecular level devices or data storage system using Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) film, we firstly investigated the monolayer behavior using the surface pressure-area($\pi$-A) isotherms at air-water interface. And then the surface pressure shift of monolayer by light irradiation was also measured to the dendrimer with azobezene group. As a result, the monolayer of dendrimer with azobenzene group showed the reversible photo-switching behavior by the isomerization of azobenzene group in their periphery. The samples for electrical measurement were fabricated to two types which were pure dendrimer with pyridinepropanol group and its complexes with $Pt^4+$ ions by LB method. We have studied the electrical properties of the ultra thin dendrimer LB films investigated by the current-voltage(I-V) characteristics of Metal/Dendrimer LB films/Metal(MIM) structure. And we have investigated different results in the surface activity at the air-water interface as well as the electrical properties for the monolayers of pure dendrimer with pyridinevopanol group and its complex with $Pt^4+$ ions. In conclusion, it is demonstrated that the metal ion around dendrimer with pyri야nepropanol group can contribute to make formation of network structure among dendrimers and it result from the change of electrical properties. This results suggest that the dendrimers with azobenzene group and pvridinedropanol group can be applied to high efficient nano-device of molecular level.
This study designs and tests a photovoltaic system with distributed maximum power point tracking (DMPPT) methodology using a field programmable gate array (FPGA) controller. Each solar panel in the distributed PV system is equipped with a newly designed DC/DC converter and the panel's voltage output is regulated by a FPGA controller using PI control. Power from each solar panel on the system is optimized by another controller where the quadratic maximization MPPT algorithm is used to ensure the panel's output power is always maximized. Experiments are carried out at atmospheric insolation with partial shading conditions using 4 amorphous silicon thin film solar panels of 2 different grades fabricated by Chi-Mei Energy. It is found that distributed MPPT requires only 100ms to find the maximum power point of the system. Compared with the traditional centralized PV (CPV) system, the distributed PV (DPV) system harvests more than 4% of solar energy in atmospheric weather condition, and 22% in average under 19% partial shading of one solar panel in the system. Test results for a 1.84 kW rated system composed by 8 poly-Si PV panels using another DC/DC converter design also confirm that the proposed system can be easily implemented into a larger PV power system. Additionally, the use of NI sbRIO-9642 FPGA-based controller is capable of controlling over 16 sets of PV modules, and a number of controllers can cooperate via the network if needed.

$Al_xGa_{1-x}N$ thin layers are promising materials for optical devices in the UV regions. $Al_xGa_{1-x}N$ thin layers w were grown on sapphire substrates by metalorgaruc chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). The molar Al fraction and crystallinity of layers were deduced from synchrotron x-ray scattering experiment. Surface morphology were investigated using SEM and SPM. $Al_xGa_{1-x}N$ layers crystallinity were related with undoped GaN crystallinity. The Al mole fraction of $Al_xGa_{1-x}N$ layers affect the surface morphology of $Al_xGa_{1-x}N$ layers. The surface morphology was roughe ened and the cracks were obse$\pi$ed by increasing the Al mole fractions.
This study examined the effect of copper and sulfuric acid concentrations on the surface morphology and physical properties of copper plated on a polyimide (PI) film. Electrochemical experiments with SEM and a four-point probe were performed to characterize the morphology and mechanical characteristics of copper electrodeposited in the composition of an electrolyte. The resistivity and peel strength were controlled using a range of electrolyte compositions. A lower resistivity and high flexibility were obtained when an electrolyte with 20 g/l of copper was used. However, a uniform surface was obtained when a high current density that exceeded $20mA/cm^2$ was applied, which was maintained at copper concentrations exceeding 40 g/l. Increasing sulfuric acid to >150 g/l decreased the peel strength and flexibility. The lowest resistivity and fine adhesion were detected at a $Cu^{2+}:H_2SO_4$ ratio of 50:100 g/l.
The effects of additives on the surface morphology and physical properties of copper electrodeposited on polyimide(PI) film were investigated here. Two kinds of additives, an activator(additive A) and a leveler(additive B),were used in this study. Electrochemical experiments, in conjunction with scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD) and a four-point probe, were performed to characterize the morphology and mechanical characteristics of copper electrodeposited in the presence of the additives. The surface roughness, crystal growth orientation and resistivity could be controlled using various quantities of additive B. High resistivity and lower peel strength were observed on the surface of the copper layer electroplated onto the electrolyte with no additive B. However, a uniform surface, lower resistivity and high flexibility were obtained with a combination of 20 ppm of additive A and 100 ppm of additive B.

This paper presents the development of a smart mirror that allows control of its display through glove gestures and integrates voice recognition functionality. The hardware configuration of the smart mirror consists of an LCD monitor combined with an acrylic panel, onto which a semi-mirror film with a reflectance of 37% and transmittance of 36% is attached, enabling it to function as both a mirror and a display. The proposed smart mirror eliminates the need for users to physically touch the mirror or operate a keyboard, as it implements gesture control through glove gesture sensors. Additionally, it incorporates voice recognition capabilities and integrates Google Assistant to display results on the screen corresponding to voice commands issued by the user.
This study was carried out to define the effects of external factors including temperature, moisture, oxygen and light quality on the germination of sesame seeds and to investigate the change of major chemical constituents of seeds during germination. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The average germination ratio was from 95.8% to 97.2% when it was tested every $5^{\circ}C$ intervals from $20^{\circ}C$ to $35^{\circ}C$ and no significant difference in germination ratio was found within $20^{\circ}C$ to $35^{\circ}C$. But the germination ratio dropped rapidly to 32.2% when seeds were germinated at $15^{\circ}C$ and the coefficient of variation become greater(77%) 2. The days required for germination ranged from 1.16 to 1. 64 at the temperatures of $35^{\circ}C$ to $25^{\circ}C$ and they were 3.07 and 10.4 at the temperatures of $20^{\circ}C$ and $15^{\circ}C$, respectively. 3. Considering the germination ratio and days needed, $15^{\circ}C$ was assumed to be the minimum temperature for germination practically and this temperature is recommended for testing low temperature tolerance of seed germination of sesame cultivars. 4. The varieties shown the highest low temperature tolerance were Shirogoma and Turkey. The next varieties shown some degree of low temperature germination were Suweon #29, Naebok and IS 58. The varieties with 70 to 80% of germination ratio were Maepo, Suweon #14, Kimpo, Moondeok, and Haenam. Among the 90 varieties tested, the varieties with comparatively high degree of low temperature tolerance were about 10%, and 70% of the low temperature tolerant varieties were domestic varieties. 5. At $12^{\circ}C$ the Shirogoma was the only variety which showed over 50% of germination ratio, 71.4% of the varieties showed less than 20% of germination ratio. When the temperature was raised to $27^{\circ}C$ 18 days after placement at $12^{\circ}C$ all the varieties showed over 90% of germination ratio within 2days. 6. The amounts of water imbibition needed for seed germination were 0.48 to 0.62 times of the seed dry weight at $25^{\circ}C$ and were significantly different among sesame cultivars. About 63% of water required for germination was imbibed in 2 hours after placement of seeds under the germination condition. 7. Under saturated moisture condition the average germination ratio was 0.42%. In the soil of which water potential was -0.4bar 64.8% of the seeds germinated and the most adequate soil water potential for sesame seed germination was about -0.4 to -5.5 bar. The germination ratio decreased as the soil water potential declined below -5.5 bar. 8. Six out of 10 varieties were not influenced by 5% of oxygen in air germination chamber, while varieties such as Yecheon, PI 158073, IS 103 and Euisangcheon showed 64 to 91% of germination under the 5% oxygen content. Under anaerobic condition, cotyledones were not emerged but only hypocotyl was emerged and elongated. The germination ratio of IS 103 decreased significantly under anaerobic condition. 9. When the seeds were dried for 24 hours after 12 hours imbibition of water, the seeds of Cheongsong did not lose their germination ability and 27.5% was germinated but Suweon #9 and Early Russian failed to germinate. However, the germination ratio of IS 103 decreased when the seed were dried 24 hours after 4 hours imbibition of water and the germination ability of IS 103 was maintained even though the seeds were dried for 24 hours after 24 hours imbibition of water. 10. During germination, sugar content of sesame seed increased rapidly and activity of ${\alpha}$-amylase increased gradually while starch content decreased significantly. The rates of increase in sugar content and enzyme activity and decrease in starch content were significantly lower at $15^{\circ}C$ compared with those at $25^{\circ}C$. 11. During germination of sesame seeds, lipid content in the seeds dropped rapidly and the activity of alkaline lipase increased significantly at early stage of germination. The rate of decrease in lipid content and increase in emzyme activity was lower at $15^{\circ}C$ than at $25^{\circ}C$. 12. Four out of 6 varieties were not affected in germination by light wave length. But Suweon #8 was inhibited in germination by 600-650nm. and IS 103 by 600 to 650nm and 500 to 550nm of light wave length. Suweon #8 showed high germination ratio under 650 to 760 nm and 500 to 560nm, and IS 103 under 400 to 470nm and complete darkness. 13. The germination ratios increased significantly in the seeds of which 1000 grain weight is heavier. When the seeds were placed at soil 4cm deep, Cheongsong and Early Russian failed to emerge their cotyledones, but Suweon #9 and IS 103 showed 32.5 and 50% cotyledone emergence, respectively. The extracts from sesame plant and soil where the sesame was cultivated previously did not affect in the-germination of sesame seeds. 14. The covering by black or transparent polyethylene films increased germination ratio compared with uncovered seeds. The covering was effective in shortening the days needed for germination and in improving the early seedling growth, number of capsules per plant and grain yield. Difference was not so seizable between the two polyethylene films but the transparent film appeared somewhat more effective than the black one. 15. Simcheon, Cheongsong. Suweon #9. PI 158073 and IS 103 showed lower rate of water absorbtion by seed during germination and Suweon #8, Suweon #26, Orotall and Euisangcheon showed high increase in seed weight after water absorbtion by seed.
