A Study on Performance Characteristic of Electric Equipments for High Speed Train by on-Line Test (시운전시험을 통한 고속전철 전장품의 성능 특성)

  • An electric railway system is composed of high-tech subsystems, among which main electric equipments such as transformers, converter and traction motors are critical components determining the performance of rolling stock. We developed a measurement system for on-line test and evaluation of performances of Korean High Speed Train. The measurement system is composed of software part and hardware part. Perfect interface between multi-users is possible. A new method to measure temperature was applied to the measurement system. By using the system, measurement and evaluation for the performance of electric equipments in Korean High Speed Train was conducted during test running.

  • The most important thing to secure safety and reliability of railway vehicles is to verify performance characteristics of equipments, and related companies or research institutes had many efforts to verify performances and functions of equipments synthetically and efficiently. KHST(Korean High Speed Train) has been developed by KRRI (Korea Railroad Research Institute). An electric railway system is composed of high-tech subsystems, among which main electric equipment such as transformers and converter are critical components determining the performance of rolling stock. We developed a measurement system for on-line test and evaluation of performances of KHST. The measurement system is composed of software part and hardware part. Perfect interface between multi-users is possible. A new method to measure temperature was applied to the ]measurement system.   • For compressed sensing (CS) applications, it is significant to construct deterministic measurement matrices with good practical features, including good sensing performance, low memory cost, low computational complexity and easy hardware implementation. In this paper, a deterministic construction method of bipolar measurement matrices is presented based on binary sequence family (BSF). This method is of interest to be applied for sparse signal restore and image block CS. Coherence is an important tool to describe and compare the performance of various sensing matrices. Lower coherence implies higher reconstruction accuracy. The coherence of proposed measurement matrices is analyzed and derived to be smaller than the corresponding Gaussian and Bernoulli random matrices. Simulation experiments show that the proposed matrices outperform the corresponding Gaussian, Bernoulli, binary and chaotic bipolar matrices in reconstruction accuracy. Meanwhile, the proposed matrices can reduce the reconstruction time compared with their Gaussian counterpart. Moreover, the proposed matrices are very efficient for sensing performance, memory, complexity and hardware realization, which is beneficial to practical CS.

  • The aim of this study was to develop a portable electronic nose system for freshness measurement of meats, which could be an alterative of subjective measurements of human nose and time-consuming measurements of conventional gas chromatograph methods. The portable electronic system was o optimized by comparing the measurement sensitivity and hardware efficiency, such as power consumption and dimension reduction throughout two stages of the prototypes. The electronic nose systems were constructed using an array of four different metal oxide semiconductor sensors. Two different configurations of sensor array with dimension were designed and compared the performance respectively. The final prototype of the system showed much improved performance on saving power consumption and dimension reduction without decrease of measurement sensitivity of pork freshness. The results show the potential of constructing a portable electronic system for the measurement of meat quality with high sensitivity and energy efficiency.

  • Recently, as the feasibility study shows that trans-Korea railway and trans-continental railway are advantageous, interest in high-speed railway system is increasing. Because railway vehicle is environment-friendly and safe compared with airplane and ship, its market-sharing increases gradually.   • The feasibility of using ultrasonic-wave doppler sensors for a measurement of the actual ground speed of agricultural machines was investigated. The actual ground speed is estimated from the doppler shift frequencies of the two ultrasonic-waves transmitted to and received from a moving object. A prototype of the speed-measurement system was designed and constructed for the performance test. The measurement system showed a good performance with a flat surface at speeds lower than 3m/s. However, it was failed to receive the reflected signals from the rough and irregular soil surfaces. Further researches to solve this problem and to improve its performance are now underway.

  • Many companies are struggling with the issue of performance measurement because a generally accepted framework does not exist. The Balanced Scorecard is designed to help firms that have historically overemphasized short-term financial performance. In this article, we discuss the interrelation between supply relationship and BSC. The Balanced Scorecard to measure quality performance with respect to supply relationship is suggested. Based on the survey of 84 venture firms, the validity of the measurement tool is tested statistically. Consequently, it was found that the suggested items have validity to measure supply relationship quality performance

  • There has been the migration to a performance-based approach in many areas which include transition planning at global, regional and local levels, performance-based navigation and safety management. Achieving continuous success of Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems would require a performance-based approach to raise productivity and efficiency of it through performance measurements and reviews. This paper considers establishment planning of performance measurement and evaluation system for ATM. Related to key performance areas proposed by International Civil Aviation Organization, performance indicators and metrics which could be used to measure and evaluate ATM performance are presented. Also, organizational system and operational planning for efficient operation of ATM are presented.

  • With the introduction of supply chain management concept, the nature of a firm is fundamentally changed. Control is no longer based on direct control of the business processes, but rather based on integration across member organizations in the supply chain. Firms are trying to achieve a competitive edge by managing their supply chain performance to gain advantages in cost and service differentiation. The supply chain elements of a sea port involves ILSP (Inbound Logistics Service Provider) at the input side and OLSP (Outbound Logistics Service Provider) at the output side. The goal of sea port is to satisfy the needs of different parties, both upstream and downstream, in the chain with greater effectiveness and efficiency than it's competitors. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to derive conceptualization of the SCP (Supply Chain Performance) in the sea port from literature review on the previous researches and to tackle their theoretical and practical implications. The paper deals with conceptualizing SCP in sea port using the SCOR (Supply Chain Operation Reference) model. It incorporates both the effectiveness and efficiency aspects of performance measurement. And it also recognizes customer related reasons for measuring performance.

  • The performance test is conducted for the purpose of determining the accurate thermal performance of the power generation facility or deriving the factors of thermal efficiency degradation. Compared to the acquisition method of power plant thermal performance test data by compensating cable or transmission cable, performance test using wireless instrument can acquire digital data in order to shorten the period due to installation and demolition of instrument and enhance safety of workers and relatively accurate data can be acquired thereby improving work efficiency. Wireless instruments have already been introduced to the market a long time ago, and some of them are used in industry such as petrochemical industry. However, there is no example which has been conducted for performance test of power generation facilities. In order to apply power generation facilities, a reliable system capable of acquiring performance data smoothly without affecting the control system is required. The wireless measurement system can eliminate the measurement defects and errors such as the damage due to the movement of the connecting cable, the extension due to the extension of the shield wire, the contact failure at the contact point between the measuring sensor and the connecting wire, This method has the advantage of collecting relatively accurate performance test data.
