The solid insulation system of stator windings in high voltage rotational machines is usually aging in accordance with long time operation. The partial discharge test have been known to check whether insulation deterioration exist or not, and the PD test can effectively diagnose a solid insulation condition regardless of during operation(on-line) or not(off-line). The on-line PD measurement have proven to be a successful technique in monitoring stator insulation condition nowadays. This paper describes the characteristics of comparing the on-line PD measurement data using PDMS-HG(Partial Discharge Monitoring System for Hydro-electric Generator) installed in field with the off-line diagnosis measurement data(insulation resistance, winding resistance, PI, ${\Delta}tan{\delta}$ and PD) on hydro generator(13[kV]) stator windings. These results make good use of managing rotational machines through evaluating the solid insulation condition of stator windings.
This paper introduces a novel denoising algorithm for the partial-discharge(PD) signals from power apparatuses. The developed algorithm includes three kinds of specific denoising sub-algorithms. The first sub-algorithm uses the fuzzy logic which classifies the noise types in the magnitude versus phase PD pattern. This sub-algorithm is especially effective in the rejection of the noise with high and constant magnitude. The second one is the method simply removing the pulses in the phase sections below the threshold count in the count versus phase pattern. This method is effective in removing the occasional high level noise pulses. The last denoising sub-algorithm uses the grouping characteristics of PD pulses in the 3D plot of the magnitude versus phase versus cycle. This special technique can remove the periodical noise pulses with varying magnitudes, which are very difficult to be removed by other denoising methods. Each of the sub-algorithm has different characteristic and shows different quality of the noise rejection. On that account, a parameter which numerically expresses the noise possessing degree of signal, is defined and evaluated. Using the parameter and above three sub-algorithms, an adaptive complex noise rejection algorithm for the on-line PD diagnosis system is developed. Proposed algorithm shows good performances in the various real PD signals measured from the power apparatuses in the Korean plants.
Dopamine transporter concentrations have been known to decrease in Parkinson's disease (PD) or increase in Tourette's disorder. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of [I-123]N-(3-iodopropene-2-yl)-$2{\beta}$-carbomethoxy-$3{\beta}$-(4-chlorophenyl) tropane (IPT) as an imaging agent for measuring changes in transporter concentrations with PD. IPT labelled with 6.69+/-0.64 mCi(247.53+/-23.68 MBq) of I-123 was intravenously injected into ten patients(age: 55+/-11) with PD, and six normal controls(NC)(age: 46+/-14) as a bolus. Dynamic SPECT scans of the brain were then performed for 5 minutes each over 120 minutes on a triple headed camera. Time activity curves were generated for the left basal ganglia(LBG), right basal ganglia(RBC), and occipital cortex(OCC). The statistical parameters included the time to peak activity, the contrast ratio of LBG and RBG to OCC at several time points, and the accumulated specific binding counts/mCi/pixel(ASBC) from 0 to 115 minutes. The uptake of IPT in the brains of PD and NC peaked within 10 minutes of injection in all subjects. The maximum target to background ratio in the basal ganglia of PD and NC occurred at 85+/-20 min and 110+/-6 min of injection, respectively. The BG/OCC ratios at 115 minutes for PD and NC were 2.15+/-0.54 and 4.26+/-0.73, respectively. The ASBC at 115 minutes for PD and NC were 152.91+/-50.09 and 289.51+/-49.00, respectively. The ratio of BG/OCC for the NC was significantly higher than the ratio for PD. SPECT data matched with clinical diagnosis for PDs. The ratio between BG and OCC and the ASBC for PD were clearly separated from NC and may be useful outcome measures for clinical diagnosis. The findings suggest that IPT may be a very useful tracer for early diagnosis of PD and study of dopamine reuptake site.
On-line partial discharge(PD) monitoring system has been developed to monitor in operating large motor stator insulations. This system makes use of remote diagnosis techniques for the evaluation of PD activity in the control center of thermal power plant. This system can be remotely accessed via a modem to build database, analyze status and interpret the pattern of PD activity. A personnel computer is generally connected to ten motors to continuous measurement of the PD activity. The test data can be easily interpreted by a maintenance staff. For assessing the condition of stator winding in motors, this system ensures a reliable measurement and accurate estimation. Capacitive couplers used for on-line PD measurement have been 80pF. The maximum PD magnitude(Qmax), PD pattern and normalized quantity number(NQN) were performed by this system.
On-line partial discharge(PD) diagnostic system is the most prominent systems to diagnose insulation condition for the high voltage rotating machines. Partial discharge measuring system(PDMS) series with ceramic coupler(PD detecting sensor) installed hydro generator and high voltage motor have been measured the PD data for many years. The trend of PD magnitude in the on-line PD system increased for some machines. These machines showed a same result in the conventional off-line PD test and PD magnitude decreased after stator winding insulation cleaning. This case study show that PDMS has been proved to be good results by comparing PD magnitude with on-line and off-line PD test and it is important to plan the maintenance project for the hydro generator stator winding because PD value was decreased after insulation cleaning.
A method for partial discharge diagnosis based on UHF narrow band type for GIS has been developed and calibrated. In generally, PD cannot be directly measured under on-line condition, but we can indirectly measure the electromagnetic wave made by PD using the high-frequency antenna. Compared with VHF band, electromagnetic waves of UHF band have a low influence for external noise in high-voltage substation. Therefore, we can detect the real abnormality with several pC in GIS using UHF narrow-band type method. For the case of no internal VHF sensor for GIS of the domestic substation, it has applied to use the external UHF sensor attached in spacer in GIS of existing substation. In this paper, we firstly described the technique of partial discharge measurement using frequency analysis and phase analysis in UHF band. Secondly, we presented the results of sensitivity test, the relationship of dBm-pC and diagnosis result of the cause of PD source by phase analysis. And then, we report the diagnosis result of partial discharge on the real GIS in domestic substation. These results make above method applicable for measurement of quantity and cause of PD for real operation GIS in high-voltage substation.
Recently, GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear) has been recognizing of importance on development of diagnosis technique which is happened problem on confidence for a long time use. Therefore, the measurement and analysis of PD with prior phenomenon of insulation breakdown is used many method of diagnosis for GIS. In this paper, we simulate trouble condition in DS and analysis trouble signal to use electrical and mechanical methods, interpretation of detected signal has analysed with to use ø-q-n pattern and neural network. For this analysis, we have used the induction and AE(acoustic emission) sensors. For the simulation experiment, we make DS for 170 KV GIS and analyze the classification and characteristics of detected signals with the application of neural network algorithm.
Recently, because GIS equipment has problems on confidence according to long-time usage, development of diagnosis technique has been importantly recognized. Therefore. measurement and analysis of PD has been generally used much equipment of GIS. But, in case of measurement of PD at field, real trouble signals are difficult to classify noise. Accordingly, a variety of trouble conditions for DS were simulated, and detected signals were analyzed by the application of electrical and mechanical methods. For this analysis, detected signals were accumulated according to phase-magnitude with the application of Induction sensor, and then we analyzed the characteristics. For the simulation experiment, we made DS for 170kV GIS and analyzed the characteristics of detected singals with the application of neural network algorithm.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that is the second most common disorder after Alzheimer's disease. PD includes both "motor" and "non-motor" symptoms, one of which is pain. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical characteristics of pain in patients with PD. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 250 patients diagnosed with PD, 70% of which had mild to moderate PD (stages 2/3 of Hoehn and Yahr scale). The average age was 67.4 years, and the average duration since PD diagnosis was 7.1 years. Relevant data collected from PD patients were obtained from their personal medical history. Results: The prevalence of pain was found to be high (82%), with most patients (79.2%) relating their pain to PD. Disease duration was correlated with the frequency of intense pain (R: 0.393; P < 0.05). PD pain is most frequently perceived as an electrical current (64%), and two pain varieties were most prevalent (2.60 ± 0.63). Our findings confirm links between pain, its evolution over time, its multi-modal character, the wide variety of symptoms of PD, and the female sex. Conclusions: Our results demonstrated that the pain felt by PD patients is mainly felt as an electrical current, which contrasts with other studies where the pain is described as burning and itching. Our classification is innovative because it is based on anatomy, whereas those of other authors were based on syndromes.
