In this paper, thermal reliability of a closed type BLDC (Brushless DC) motor for high speed axial fan was analyzed by the accelerated life test. The closed type BLDC (Model No. MB1-8855-J01) motor was controlled by PCB module, which was composed of various electrical components. The failure of the closed type BLDC motor happened in PCB module due to high temperature. Failure mechanism of the closed type BLDC motor appears to be electrolyte dry out of capacitor. The accelerate life test was performed in temperature stress of $85^{\circ}C\;and\;105^{\circ}C$, respectively The failure data from the accelerated life test were analyzed and the life in each stress level was estimated with 960h and 261 h. At last, both life expression according to operating temperature of PCB module and life of the closed type BLBC motor in normal condition $(50^{\circ}C)$ were suggested.
As information-oriented industry has been developed and electronic devices has come to be smaller, lighter, multifunctional, and high speed, the components used to the devices need to be much high density and should have find pattern due to high integration. Also, diverse reliability problems happen as user environment is getting harsher. For this reasons, establishing and securing products and components reliability comes to key factor in company's competitiveness. It makes accelerated test important to check product reliability in fast way. Out of fine pattern failure modes, failure of Electrochemical Migration(ECM) is kind of degradation of insulation resistance by electro-chemical reaction, which it comes to be accelerated by biased voltage in high temperature and high humidity environment. In this thesis, the accelerated life test for failure caused by ECM on fine pattern substrate, $20/20{\mu}m$ pattern width/space applied by Semi Additive Process, was performed, and through this test, the investigation of failure mechanism and the life-time prediction evaluation under actual user environment was implemented. The result of accelerated test has been compared and estimated with life distribution and life stress relatively by using Minitab software and its acceleration rate was also tested. Through estimated weibull distribution, B10 life has been estimated under 95% confidence level of failure data happened in each test conditions. And the life in actual usage environment has been predicted by using generalized Eyring model considering temperature and humidity by developing Arrhenius reaction rate theory, and acceleration factors by test conditions have been calculated.
The laser-assisted seeding (LAS) process has potential to replace conventional electroless copper plating in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) manufacturing since it combines the steps of laser drilling and plating into one single process. In the LAS process, the single extra LAS step can metallize a microvia. Thus, the process steps can be greatly reduced and the productivity enhanced, but also the high aspect ratio microvias can be metallized. The objectives of this paper are to study the LAS copper thickness within PCB microvias and the thermal reliability of the microvias produced by this process. It was found that results were satisfactory in both the reliability test and also the LAS copper thickness which both comply with IPC standard, the copper thickness produced by the LAS process is sufficient for subsequent electro-plating process. The reliability of the microvias produced by LAS process is acceptable which are free from any voids, corner cracks, and distortion in the plated copper.

These days embedded technology may be the most significant development in the electronics industry. The study focused on the development of active device embedding using flexible printed circuit in view of process and materials. The authors fabricated 30um thickness Si chip without any crack, chipping defects with a dicing before grinding process. In order to embed chips into flexible PCB, the chip pads on a chip are connected to bonding pad on flexible PCB using an ACF film. After packaging, all sample were tested by the O/S test and carried out the reliability test. All samples passed environmental reliability test. In the future, this technology will be applied to the wearable electronics and flexible display in the variety of electronics product.

In this study, the complex vibration reliability of Sn-3.5Ag and Sn-0.7Cu having a high melting temperature was investigated. For manufacturing of BGA test samples, Sn-3.5Ag and Sn-0.7Cu balls were joined on BGA chips finished by ENIG and the chips were mounted on PCB finished OSP by using reflow process. For measuring of resistance change during complex vibration test, daisy chain was formed in the test board. From the results of resistance change and shear strength change, the reliability of two solder balls was compared and evaluated. During complex vibration for 120 hours, Sn-0.7Cu solder was more stable than Sn-3.5Ag solder in complex vibration test.

Electronic components for space launch vehicles are exposed to a severe vibrational environment at launch and flight. The structural reliability of each component can be verified using mathematical approaches. In order to verify the structural reliability, an important parameter is the natural frequency of PCB(Printed Circuit Board) assembly mounted electronic components on and housing mounted PCB assembly in. In this paper, in order to find natural frequencies of PCB assemblies and the housing of hydrazine TCU(Thruster Control Unit), FEM(Finite Element Method) is adapted. The analytical result of FEM is verified by experimental method.

In this paper, we describe the analysis of inkjet-printed silver (Ag) patterns on epoxy-coated substrates according to several reliability evaluation test method guidelines for conventional printed circuit boards (PCB). To prepare patterns for the reliability analysis, various regular test patterns were created by Ag inkjet printing on flame retardant 4 (FR4) and polyimide (PI) substrates coated with epoxy for each test method. We coated the substrates with an epoxy primer layer to control the surface energy during printing of the patterns. The contact angle of the ink to the coated epoxy primer was $69^{\circ}$, and its surface energy was 18.6 $mJ/m^2$. Also, the substrate temperature was set at $70^{\circ}C$. We were able to obtain continuous line patterns by inkjet printing with a droplet spacing of $60{\mu}m$. The reliability evaluation tests included the dielectric withstanding voltage, adhesive strength, thermal shock, pressure cooker, bending, uniformity of line-width and spacing, and high-frequency transmission loss tests.

Recently, board level solder joint reliability performance of IC packages during drop impact becomes a great concern to semiconductor and electronic product manufacturers. The handheld electronic products are prone to being dropped during their useful service life because of their size and weight. The IC packages are susceptible to solder joint failures, induced by a combination of printed circuit board (PCB) bending and mechanical shock during impact. The board level drop testing is an effective method to characterize the solder joint reliability performance of miniature handheld products. In this paper, applying the JEDEC (JESD22-B111) standard present a finite element modeling of the FBGA. The simulation results revealed that maximum stress was located at the outermost solder ball in the PCB or IC package side, which consisted well with the location of crack initiation observed in the failure analysis after drop reliability tests.

In this study, we propose a method for predicting the mechanical properties of the printed circuit board (PCB) that has transversely isotropic characteristics. Unlike the isotropic material, there is no specific test standard for acquisition of the transversely isotropic properties. In addition, common material test methods are not readily applicable to that type of laminated thin plate. Utilizing the natural frequency obtained by a modal test and the sizing optimization technique provided in $OptiStruct^{(R)}$, the mechanical properties of a PCB were derived to minimize the difference between test and analysis results. In addition, the validity of the predicted mechanical properties was confirmed by the MAC (Modal Assurance Criteria) value of each of the compared mode shapes. This proposed approach is expected to be extended to the structural analysis for the design verification of the top product that includes a PCB.

Printed Circuit Boards for satellite are composed of multi-layered copper plate and glass epoxy. Each copper layer have the complicated and different pattern to operate correctly for its mission. Especially. copper layer give effect on the PCB stiffness seriously. But It can make more complicate to predict the exact stiffness of PCB. In KOMPSAT-2 program, too many type of PCB are used for each electronic unit, and they have different type of pattern of copper layer. Solar array regulator has two type of PCB and it will be considered for this study. In this study. we calculate the PCB board stiffness of KOMPSAT-2 SAR unit considering the concept of simplified representative volume element. It will be correlated with the test results under KOMPSAT-2 vibration environmental condition to increase the reliability of this study.
