An Expert System For PC Mold-Base Selection On The Auto CAD

  • 본 논문은 사출금형 설계를 위한 전문가 시스템의 개발에 관한 연구이다. 설계자가 오토케드 (AutoCAD)환경에서 금형부품 및 몰드베이스를 3차원 형상으로 나타낼 수 있으며 필요한 설계 데이터를 추가할수 있는 프로그램 개발에 있다. 주 프로그램은 C++를 사용하여 구축하였으며,금형부품 치수 및 몰 드베이스를 데이터베이스화 하였다. 주 프로그램과 오토캐드와 인터페이스를 하여 오토캐드 환경에서 자 유롭게 사용할 수 있도록 하였다. Pull-down menu와 Dialog box를 이용하여 금형 설계자가 금형의 각 부 품을 자유롭게 선정할 수 있으며, 각 단계별 선정된 금형부품은 즉시 나타나 설계자가 바로 확인 할 수 있도록 하였다. 이젝터 핀의 위치 및 크기를 자동적으로 나타낼수 있으며, 선정된 금형 부품 및 몰드베이 스는 2차원이나 3차원으로 나타낼 수 있다. 각각의 3차원 부품을 독립적으로 나타낼 수 있어 NC프로그램과 인터페이스가 가능토록 하였다.

  • In these days, the reliability analysis and prediction are applied for many industrial products and many products require guaranteeing the quality and efficiency of their products. In this study reliability prediction for core units of machine tools has been performed in order to improve and analyze its reliability. ATC(Automatic Tool Changer) and interface Card of PC-NC that are core component of the machine tools were chosen as the target of the reliability prediction. A reliability analysis tool was used to obtain the reliability data(failure rate database) for reliability prediction. It is expected that the results of reliability prediction be applied to improve and evaluate its reliability. Failure rate, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) and reliability for core units of machine tools were evaluated and analyzed in this study.

  • The CAD/CAM System oriented to StereoLithographic Rapid Prototyping was constructed and developed. The software architecture uses a 586PC running the windows NT operating system. An .STL file brought into the software program can be verified in divers view points and focused for a detail of concern. A variety of Entity was applied to define an array of triangular facets and sliced loops. The system provides Edit, Scale, Orient, Copy and Divide commands to modify .STL model. The NC codes are created according to various laser beam scan pattern and the software show the parts on the platform before they are constructed. This system is written in Visual C and has been proved as a powerful tool for producing solid parts directly from a CAD modelling, using actual applications.

  • Increasing demands on precision machining with computerized numerical control (CNC) machines have necessitated that the tool to move not only position error as small as possible, but also with smoothly varying feedrates in space. This paper presents a new high precision interpolation algorithm for 3-dimensional (3D) Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS) curve in the reference-pulse CNC technique. Based on the minimum path error strategy, real-time NURBS interpolator was developed in software and this was implemented with a PC-NC milling machine. The several experimental results have shown that the proposed NURBS interpolator is useful for the high precision machining of complex shapes. It is expected that this algorithm can be applied to the CNC machines for the machining of 3D free-form surfaces.

  • For developing 5-axis laser cutting systems, many problems such as rotating of laser head or table, 5-axis tool path generation and collision avoidance between laser head and product should be solved. In this paper, a five-axis laser cutting machine with table swivel and rotary type configuration is developed. The five axes (X,Y,Z,A,B) are controlled and interfaced to PC via MMC board. Two kinds of CAM S/W such as commercial 5-axis CAM S/W(Euclid) and UG-API are engaged to generate NC code for the developed 5-axis laser cutting machine.

  • Based on the general drill grinding mechanism, termed the helical grinding system, the conceptual design of 5 axes CNC drill grinding machine is proposed. Unique determination of the grinding parameters for precise production of the desired flank geometry is discussed by utilizing a mathematical model. Also, different combinations of grinding parameters are mentioned in order to produce various drill geometries (conical, cylindrical, and planar drill) on the single proposed CNC machine. A manual helical grinding machine has been fabricated and consequently helical drills have been ground in order to check the feasibility of the proposed grinding mechanism and its functionality.

파라메트릭기법을 이용한 3차원 자유곡면 생성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Freeform Surface Generation Using Parametric Method)

  • The objective of this study is to develop a PC level freeform surface modeling system which explicitly represents information of part geometry. Surface modeler uses nonuniform rational B-spline (NURBS) function with nonuniform knot vector for the flexible modeling work. The results of this study are as follows. 1) By implementation surface modeler through applying representation scheme proposed to represent free-form surface explicity, the technical foundation to develop free-from surface modeling system using parametric method. 2) Besides the role to model geometric shape of a surface, geometric modeler is developed to model arbitrary geometric shape. By doing this, the availability of the modeling system is improved. Geometric modeler can be utilized application fields such as collision test of tool and fixture, and tool path generation for NC machine tool.

  • Recently, the reliability evaluation and analysis are applied for many industrial products, and many products are required to guarantee in quality and in efficiency. The purpose of this paper is to present some of reliability prediction methodologies that are applicable to machine tools. Especially ATC (Automatic Tool Changer) and Interface Card of PC-NC, which are core components of the machine tools, were chosen as the target of the reliability evaluation and analysis. The results of this research has shown the failure rate, MTBF(Mean Time Between Failure), and reliability for those components. It is expected that proposed methodologies will be applicable to evaluation of reliability for other industrial products.

  • In this study, we design a position controller for two axis servo system. The position controller performs numerical control(NC)to DC or AC servo motor or step motor, and also has a digital input/output sequence capability. The control program composed of position and sequence command, which is called channel, is programmed easily and user-interactively. And it is interpreted and the straight line and arc position command is interpolated. We develop the Z80 microprocessor based system and the software with assembly and C language, and also PC based graphic simulator for the debugging and educational purposes.

Cam의 CAD/CAM (CAD/CAM system for Cam)

  • Cam plays very important roles due to continuous requirement for the high-speed and automation of the machinery. A large number of studies of cam curve were carried out by many researchers, and CNC milling and machining center for manufacturing cam have been widely used recently. The purpose of this study was to develop a CAD/CAM system for cam using QuickBasic language in 16-bit PC for application of cam design and manufacturing. Results obtained were as follows : 1. It was possible to input data by entering cam angle and its corresponding R, from 0 to 360 deg. of cam angle. The tediousness at entering data was minimized because of the same data format for both cylindrical cam and disc cam, and free format used for data file. 2. It was possible to design cam by choosing only the number of cam curve because of developing the CAD/CAM program with dimensionless method of cam curves including widely used 19 kinds. After selecting the number of the cam curve, the CAD/CAM system automatically shows the characteristics of cam motion enough to help a designer to decide : displacement, velocity, acceleration and jerk. 3. It was possible to execute, in an efficient way, both the cam profile synthesis and the generation of NC program for CNC machining center by using the input data. 4. This NC program generated by the CAD/CAM system developed here, was evaluated as positive in relation with actual manufacturing experiments and thought to be useful in its application without any modification. It can be said that this CAD/CAM system could be used by the beginners to design and manufacture the cam automatically as the system consists of very simple dialogue methods. In addition, self-developed QuickBasic would be would used as a basic tool for further stuides in this area of research, together with application.
