Indium Tin Oxide(ITO) Thin Film Deposition on Polyethylene Terephthalate(PET) Using Ion Beam Assisted Deposition(IBAD)

  • Tin-doped indium oxide(ITO) thin films were deposited on polyethylene terephthalate(PET) at room temperature by oxygen ion beam assisted evaporator system and the effects of oxygen gas flow rate on the properties of room temperature ITO thin films were investigated. Plasma characteristics of the ion gun such as oxygen ions and atomic oxygen radicals as a function of oxygen flow rate were investigated using optical emission spectroscopy(OES). Faraday cup also used to measure oxygen ion density. The increase of oxygen flow rate to the ion gun generally increase the optical transmittance of the deposited ITO up to 6sccm of $O_2$ and the further increase of oxygen flow rate appears to saturate the optical transmittance. In the case of electrical property, the resistivity showed a minimum at 6 sccm of $O_2$ with the increase of oxygen flow rate. Therefore, the improved ITO properties at 6 sccm of $O_2$ appear to be more related to the incorporation of low energy oxygen radicals to deposited ITO film rather than the irradiation of high energy oxygen ions to the substrate. At an optimal deposition condition, ITO thin films deposited on PET substrates showed the resistivity of $6.6{\times}10^{-4}$ ${\Omega}$ cm and optical transmittance of above 90%.

In-situ spectroscopic studies of SOFC cathode materials

  • In-situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and infrared (IR) spectroscopy studies of SOFC cathode materials will be discussed in this presentation. The mixed conducting perovskites (ABO3) containing rare and alkaline earth metals on the A-site and a transition metal on the B-site are commonly used as cathodes for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC). However, the details of the oxygen reduction reaction are still not clearly understood. The information about the type of adsorbed oxygen species and their concentration is important for a mechanistic understanding of the oxygen incorporation into these cathode materials. XPS has been widely used for the analysis of adsorbed species and surface structure. However, the conventional XPS experiments have the severe drawback to operate at room temperature and with the sample under ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) conditions, which is far from the relevant conditions of SOFC operation. The disadvantages of conventional XPS can be overcome to a large extent with a "high pressure" XPS setup installed at the BESSY II synchrotron. It allows sample depth profiling over 2 nm without sputtering by variation of the excitation energy, and most importantly measurements under a residual gas pressure in the mbar range. It is also well known that the catalytic activity for the oxygen reduction is very sensitive to their electrical conductivity and oxygen nonstoichiometry. Although the electrical conductivity of perovskite oxides has been intensively studied as a function of temperature or oxygen partial pressure (Po2), in-situ measurements of the conductivity of these materials in contact with the electrolyte as a SOFC configuration have little been reported. In order to measure the in-plane conductivity of an electrode film on the electrolyte, a substrate with high resistance is required for excluding the leakage current of the substrate. It is also hardly possible to measure the conductivity of cracked thin film by electrical methods. In this study, we report the electrical conductivity of perovskite $La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}CoO_{3-{\delta}}$ (LSC) thin films on yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) electrolyte quantitatively obtained by in-situ IR spectroscopy. This method enables a reliable measurement of the electronic conductivity of the electrodes as part of the SOFC configuration regardless of leakage current to the substrate and cracks in the film.

Necroptosis Is a Mechanism of Death in Mouse Induced Hepatocyte-Like Cells Reprogrammed from Mouse Embryonic Fibroblasts

  • Liver transplantation is recommended for patients with liver failure, but liver donors are limited. This necessitates the development of artificial livers, and hepatocytes are necessary to develop such artificial livers. Although induced hepatocyte-like cells are used in artificial livers, the characteristics of mouse induced hepatocyte-like cells (miHeps) reprogrammed with embryonic fibroblasts have not yet been clarified. Therefore, this study investigated the mechanisms underlying the survival, function, and death of miHeps. miHeps showed decreased cell viability, increased cytotoxicity, decreased hepatic function, and albumin and urea secretion at passage 14. Addition of necrostatin-1 (NEC-1) to miHeps inhibited necrosome formation and reactive oxygen species generation and increased cell survival. However, NEC-1 did not affect the hepatic function of miHeps. These results provide a basis for development of artificial livers using hepatocytes.

Substitution Effect of Fluorine on $HoBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}F_y(0.0{\leq}y{\leq}0.5)$ Superconductors

  • High-Tc superconducting materials, $HoBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}F_y$ with $0.0{\leq}y{\leq}0.5$, were synthesized by ceramic method and studied by X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, differential thermal analysis, scanning electron microscopy and resistivity measurement. From the X-ray diffraction data, it was found that the samples had only single phase of which lattice volumes were decreased in proportional to the amount of fluorine, which indicated that the relatively small fluorine atoms are effectively substituted for the oxygen sites. Also, an anomalous phenomenon appeared that the peak intensities of (001) planes were greatly increased as fluorine contents increased. SEM photographs revealed that the grain sizes were enlarged progressively with fluorine contents. This fact could be explained along with DTA & TGA data that the incorporation of fluorine gave rise to lowering the melting point. Tc decreased as the incorporation of fluorine content increased. This implies that the superconducting electrons are perturbed due to the substitution of electronegative fluorine atom.

Radiosensitivity of Various Tissues of the Rat with Special Regard to Deoxycytidine -2-$^{14}C$ Metabolism in Vitro

  • 흰쥐에 400R의 X 線을 一時全身照射하여 肝, 胸腺組織에 있어서의 DNA合成, DNA分解, CdR-aminohydrolase의 活性 및 酸素消費量에 미치는 放射線의 影響을 이들 組織의 放射線感受性과 關蓮시켜 比較檢討하였고 特히 放射線에 의한 CdR-2-$^14 C$의 吸收率의 減少와 CdR-aminohydrolase 活性의 增加와의 關係에 대하여 考察하였다. 放射線에 의한 組織의 變化는 放射線의 作用基와 組織의 再生基에 따라서 判異하게 나타난다. 作用基에 있어서는 DNA 前驅物質의 吸收率, 組織內 DNA의 含量 및 酸素消費量은 顯著한 減少를 나타내나 CdR-aminohydrolase의 活性은 오히려 增加한다. 再生基에 있어서는 먼저 CdR-aminohydrolase의 活性의 回復이 앞서 일어나고, 뒤이어 CdR-2-$^14 C$의 吸收率과 DNA含量에 回復이 일어나며 다시 그 뒤를 이어 酸素消費量에 回復이 일어난다. 이러한 여러 가지 變化는 定性的인 面에서는 세 組織에서 거의 같은 樣相을 나타내는 것으로 추정되나, 定量的인 面에서는 組織의 放射線感受性의 差異, 즉 細胞의 死滅, 生殘細胞內에 있어서의 DNA의 合成이 遲延되는 其間의 長短 및 再生率등에 따라서 다르다. 아울러 放射線照射에 의한 DNA의 合成 및 分解에 따르는 生物學的인 機作을 CdR-aminohydrolase의 活性增加의 觀點에서 考察하였다.

UBM Sputtering System에 의한 안경테용 TiN막 제작에 있어 Oxygen 영향 연구 (Effect of Oxygen Incorporation in the Fabrication of TiN Thin Film for Frame by UBM Sputtering System)

  • 목적: Magnetron의 세기를 비대칭으로 한 unbalanced magnetron sputtering 장치를 설계 제작하고, 이 장치를 사용하여 sus304시편 위에 TiN을 코팅할 때 산소영향을 연구하고자 한다. 방법: 코팅막의 두께를 알기 위해 실리콘 웨이퍼 위의 코팅막을 SEM으로 단면을 관찰하였고, TiN 코팅박막표면의 성분을 분석하기 위하여 XPS를 사용하였으며, 표면안쪽의 성분을 관찰하기 위해 depth profile을 하였다. 결과: XPS depth profile 데이터로부터 티타늄과 질소 뿐만 아니라 산소가 일정한 양으로 존재하며, 산소의 양은 약 65 at.%의 큰 양이 존재한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 두께에 따른 색상변화는 세 개의 피크가 모여서 형성이 된 Ti $ 2p_{3/2}$ 피크의 모양이 두께에 따라 약간 다르다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 결론: 코팅 중에 산소가 섞여 순수한 TiN보다는 $ TiO_2$, TiN, $ TiO_{x}N_{y}$ 세가지 조합에 의해 색이 결정되는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Photoluminescence of Li-doped Y2O3:Eu3+ thin film phosphors grown by pulsed laser deposition

  • $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ and Li-doped $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ thin films have been grown on sapphire substrates using a pulsed laser deposition technique. The thin film phosphors were deposited at a substrate temperature of $600^{\circ}C$ under the oxygen pressure of 100, 200 and 300 mTorr. The films grown under different deposition conditions have been characterized using microstructural and luminescent measurements. The crystallinity and photoluminescence (PL) of the films are highly dependent on the oxygen pressure. The PL brightness data obtained from $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ films grown under optimized conditions have indicated that sapphire is one of the most promising substrate for the growth of high quality $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ thin film red phosphor. In particular, the incorporation of $Li^{+}$ ions into $Y_2O_3$ lattice could induce a remarkable increase of PL. The highest emission intensity was observed with LiF-doped $Y_{1.84}Li_{0.08}Eu_{0.08}O_3(Y_2O_3LiEu)$, whose brightness was increased by a factor of 2.7 in comparison with that of $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ films. This phosphor may promise for application to the flat panel displays.

나노기공에 의한 박막 내의 기공율과 절연상수의 상관관계 (Correlation between the dielectric constant and porosity due to the nano pore in the thin film)

  • SiOC 박막은 산소와 bistrimethylsilylmethane 전구체를 사용하여 CVD방법을 이용하여 만들었다. 유량비에 따라서 유기물, 하이브리드 그리고 무기물 특성의 3가지 특성으로 분류되어지는데 유기물의 특성을 지니는 박막에서 기공이 생성되었다 기공의 생성은 유전상수가 낮아지는 효과가 있으며, 본 연구에서는 기공이 형성되는 유기물 특성의 SiOC 박막내의 기공율을 Maxwell-Garnett 등식을 이용하여 계산하였다. 박막의 기공율은 IR분포에서 blue shift특성을 가지며, 기공율이 증가할수록 유전상수는 감소하였다.

$CH_4/O_2$의 사이클릭 유량제어에 의한 다이아몬드 박막의 특성향상 (Cyclic on/off Modulation of $CH_4\;and/or\;O_2$ Flows for the Enhancement of the Diamond Film Characteristics)

  • Diamond films were deposited on 10.0$\times$10.0$mm^2$ pretreated (100) Si substrate using $CH_4$, $H_2$ and $O_2$ source gases in a horizontal-type microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition system. We introduced a cyclic on/off modulation of $CH_4$ and/or $O_2$ flows is a function of the reaction time during the initial deposition stage. Surface morphology and diamond quality of the films were investigated as a function of the different cyclic modulation process of the source gases flows: For the enhancement of the nucleation density, there is an optimal process for the incorporation of oxygen. Diamond qualities of the films were improved by introducing oxygen gas during the initial deposition stage.
