The IEEE 802.17 Resilient Packet Ring Working Group develops standards to support the development and deployment of Resilient Packet Ring networks in Local, Metropolitan, and Wide Area Networks for resilient and efficient transfer of data Packets at rates scalable to many gigabits Per second. It was known that the fairness algorithm of the IEEE 802.17 Resilient Packet Ring suffers from throughput degradation under an unbalanced overload. This Paper proposes a congestion release advertisement method to improve this throughput degradation and discusses its performance. Under the proposed method, a congested node decides whether its congestion is released or not. If released, it advertises the congestion release to upstream nodes, and then upstream nodes transmit their traffic without uy regulation. The proposed method is compatible with the legacy fairness algorithm.
A method for applying emergency ratings to improve the reliability of power supply in ACSR overhead transmission lines is described in this paper. Due to re-regulate power industry, most power companies worldwide as well KEPCO have been searching for only economical strategies without new investment. Power demand was rapidly increasing, however, generation amount did not follow sufficiently. Hence in order to increase the transmission capacity for the existing transmission lines in case of peak load, or contingency in transmission lines, an application method of emergency ratings such as short or long term rating is proposed. If applying long term emergency rating instead of static line rating for the period of a peak load, power transmission can be increased to 10 % or more. Furthermore, it was shown that emergency rating can be effectively used in the contingency of double-circuit transmission lines and/or overload cases.

These days the automobile industry, which has rapidly progressed, has been an indispensable part in social and economic activities as well as its research and development have been activated in response to various needs of consumers and markets. The second and third generation control system, getting count on safety and convenience differently than early circuits, cause the hypertrophy of wire harness. The J/Box(Junction Box), which distributes power and wires, was developed to solve the problem. As vehicles have been better in quantity and intelligence, however, environment-friendly electric apparatus system has continuously increased and ITS(Intelligent Transport System) has been introduced in earnest. In result, wires got complicated and multilateral and also there has been a stronger probability that vehicles are out of order due to various problems including mechanical failure. In this study, ISJB(Intelligent Smart Junction Box) was introduced to solve the problem. The diagnosis system was applied to prevent the overload and short of ISJE. Also, the state of vehicles displayed so that drivers monitor it in motion. Likewise error data are saved in the memory so that such data can be analyzed retrospectively. The busbar was adopted in to the main power terminal and the part of power pattern was coverd by lead. Because ISJB is more sensitive to heat in comparison to the busbar type J/Box. With regard the circuits related with safe, alternative circuits were set up in order that electronic devices may be normally operated even when an error arises. ISJB is expected to improve the safety and quality of vehicles.

In B-ISDN(Broadband Integrated Services Digital Networks), the efficient implementation of multicast function is very important since the demand for distributed type of service such as VOD(Video On Demand) system is expected to grow. In this paper, the multicast performance characteristics of fully-interconnected switch fabric used for our research is the proper architecture for a small-sized switch element, and it uses bit addressing method for addressing scheme and thus it is easy to implement multicast function without adding a function block. To incorporate the bursty nature of traffic in ATM networks, we used IBP(Interrupted Bernoulli Process) model as an input traffic model. We presented and analyzed the simulation results in terms of the multicast operation of the switch. Based. on this study, it its analyzed that congestion avoidance may be feasible if we use a proper traffic control scheme by finding an overload point due to multicast.
Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) will be widely used in future transportation systems to reduce oil fuel consumption. Therefore, the electrical energy demand will be increased due to the charging of a large number of vehicles. Without intelligent control strategies, the charging process can easily overload the electricity grid at peak hours. In this paper, we consider a smart charging and discharging process for multiple PHEVs in a building's garage to optimize the energy consumption profile of the building. We formulate a centralized optimization problem in which the building controller or planner aims to minimize the square Euclidean distance between the instantaneous energy demand and the average demand of the building by controlling the charging and discharging schedules of PHEVs (or 'users'). The PHEVs' batteries will be charged during low-demand periods and discharged during high-demand periods in order to reduce the peak load of the building. In a decentralized system, we design an energy cost-sharing model and apply a non-cooperative approach to formulate an energy charging and discharging scheduling game, in which the players are the users, their strategies are the battery charging and discharging schedules, and the utility function of each user is defined as the negative total energy payment to the building. Based on the game theory setup, we also propose a distributed algorithm in which each PHEV independently selects its best strategy to maximize the utility function. The PHEVs update the building planner with their energy charging and discharging schedules. We also show that the PHEV owners will have an incentive to participate in the energy charging and discharging game. Simulation results verify that the proposed distributed algorithm will minimize the peak load and the total energy cost simultaneously.
Background: In Japan, more than 60% of employees are reported to suffer from anxiety and stress. Consequently, Japanese society has begun to address such important issues as psychogenic disability and job-related suicide. Furthermore, given the aging of society and the surge in the number of elderly people requiring care, it is necessary to adequately and proactively support employees who care for their elderly relatives. The purpose of the present study was to investigate caregiver burden in caring for elderly relatives and work-related stress factors associated with mental health among employees. Methods: We studied 722 men and women aged 18-83 years in a cross-sectional study. The K10 questionnaire was used to examine mental health status. Results: The proportion of participants with a high K10 score was 15% (n = 106). Having little conversation with their supervisor and/or coworkers significantly increased the risk of depression [odds ratio (OR) 1.8], as did high job overload (OR 2.7) and job dissatisfaction (OR 3.8), compared with employees who frequently conversed with their supervisor and/or coworkers. Caring for elderly relatives as a prominent characteristic of an employee was a significant risk factor for depression (OR 2.1). Conclusion: The present study demonstrated that employees who were caring for elderly relatives were significantly associated with an increased risk of depression. To prevent depressive disorders, it may be important to focus on reducing the work-caregiving role conflict, as well as enhancing employees' job control and better rewarding their efforts in the workplace.
The purpose of this paper is to present a model for operating an emergency power system(EPS) that can secure a sufficient power supply used in case of a fire by analyzing the status of power supplies for emergency and firefighting operations. Investigations on the one of the causes of the operational failure of firefighting systems show evidence of EPS. Generally, when power to a building is interrupted, EPS supplies the emergency load(excepted firefighting load) first. When a power outage and a fire occur simultaneously, the EPS must be able to supply both the emergency load and the firefighting load, especially the firefighting load to the end. However, in order to save construction costs, emergency power generators in apartment, commercial, and business buildings can satisfy only one of the required loads. In cases like this, when a power outage and a fire occur simultaneously, there is a danger of firefighting equipment not operating due to insufficient power supply from the emergency generator. Therefore, an EPS must have a reserved firefighting power that can supply both the firefighting and the emergency load. Such EPS, when faced with a danger of an overload, will shut down the supply to all or part of the emergency load, thus securing a continuous power supply to the firefighting equipment. The generator power system with reserved firefighting power (RFP) will also have an indicator to show that the selective control is being used. General power generation systems for emergency load and firefighting load were found to have a demand factor of 50-60% with a lump. However, when installing an EPS, the builders must choose the higher demand factor suggested according to the official approval demand factor of the building.
As cloud computing is activated, a variety of cloud services are being distributed. However, to use each different cloud service, you must perform a individual user authentication process to service. Therefore, not only the procedure is cumbersome but also due to repeated authentication process performance, it can cause password exposure or database overload that needs to have user's authentication information each cloud server. Moreover, there is high probability of security problem that being occurred by phishing attacks that result from different authentication schemes and input scheme for each service. Thus, when you want to use a variety of cloud service, we proposed OpenID based user authentication scheme that can be applied to a multi-cloud environment by the trusted user's verify ID provider.

In the shared-memory mutiprocessor systems, shared processing techniques such as time-sharing, space¬sharing, and gang-scheduling are used to improve the overall system utilization for the parallel operations. Recently, LLPC(Loop-Level Process Control) allocation technique was proposed. It dynamically adjusts the needed number of processors for the execution of the parallel code portions based on the current system load in the given job. This method allocates as many available processors as possible, and does not save any processors for the parallel sections of other later-arriving applications. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose a new processor allocation technique called FPA(Fuzzy Processor Allocation) that dynamically adjusts the number of processors by fuzzifYing the amounts ofueeded number of processors, loads, and estimated execution times of job. The proposed method provides the maximum possibility of the parallism of each job without system overload. We compare the performances of our approaches with the conventional results. The experiments show that the proposed method provides a better performance.
High Altitude and Long Endurance (HALE) aircraft are capable of providing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities over vast geographic areas when equipped with advanced sensor packages. As their use becomes more widespread, the demand for additional range, endurance and payload capability will increase and designers are exploring non-conventional configurations to meet the increasing demands. One such configuration is the joined-wing concept. A joined-wing aircraft is one that typically connects a front and aft wings in a diamond shaped planform. One such example is the Boeing SensorCraft configuration. While the joined-wing configuration offers potential benefits regarding aerodynamic efficiency, structural weight, and sensing capabilities, structural design requires careful consideration of elastic buckling resulting from the aft wing supporting, in compression, part of the forward wing structural loading. It has been shown already that this is a nonlinear phenomenon, involving geometric nonlinearities and follower forces that tend to flatten the entire configuration, leading to structural overload due to the loss of the aft wing's ability to support the forward wing load. Severe gusts are likely to be the critical design condition, with flight control system interaction in the form of Gust Load Alleviation (GLA) playing a key role in minimizing the structural loads. The University of Victoria Center for Aerospace Research (UVic-CfAR) has built a 3-meter span scaled and flexible wing UAV based on the Boeing SensorCraft design. The goal is to validate the nonlinear structural behavior in flight. The main objective of this research work is to perform Ground Vibration Tests (GVT) to characterize the dynamic properties of the scaled flight vehicle. Results from the experimental tests are used to characterize the modal dynamics of the aircraft, and to validate the numerical models. The GVT results are an important step towards a safe flight test program.
