A Low Power SDRAM Output Buffer with Minimized Power Line Noise and Feedthrough Current (최소화된 Power line noise와 Feedthrough current를 갖는 저 전력 SDRAM Output Buffer)

  • A low power SDRAM output buffer with reduced power line noise and feedthrough current is presented. In multi I/O SDRAM output buffer, feedthrough current as well as the corresponding power dissipation are reduced utilizing proposed undershoot protection circuits. Ground bounce is minimized by the pull down driver using intelligent feedback scheme. Ground bounce noise is reduced by 66.3% and instantaneous and average power are reduced by 27.5% and 11.4%, respectively.

  • In this paper a three-phase ac-to-dc resonant converter with high input power factor and isolated output is proposed. To improve the input power factor of the converter, high frequency current is injected into the input of the three-phase diode bridge rectifier. It is injected through an impedance network consisting of a series of L-C branches from the output of the high frequency three-phase inverter. A narrow switching frequency variation is required to regulate the output voltage. A design example with different design curves is illustrated along with the component ratings. Experimental verification of the converter is performed on a prototype of 3 kW, 1000 V output, operating above 300 kHz. Experimental results confirm the concept of the proposed converter. Narrow switching frequency variation is required to regulate the output voltage.

The Double-Output DC-DC Converter Using the Current-Fed Converter (전류환류형 DC-DC콘버터를 이용한 이중출력 회로)

  • The current-fed DC-DC converter, which is known as the most stable DC-DC converter, has a two-winding reactor in series with the input. In this paper a new double-output DC-DC converter circuit, in which the 2nd winding of the reactor is creating the 2nd output, while the 2nd winding is feeding the energy to the input in the current-fed converter, is propose. The steady state characteristics of the new circuit are clarified and it is found that the maximum value exists in the 2nd output. Furthermore, regulation characteristic is analysed by 'Slope method' and the result shows good agreement with experimental value. The 2nd output voltage regulation is performed by using regulation IC. As a result, we have achieved good regulation characteristics.

Multi-Output LED Driver Integrated with 3-Switch Converter and Passive Current Balance for Portable Applications

  • This study presents a new portable eight-output light emitting diode (LED) driver. The eight output-channels are divided into two equal groups, and their output powers can be controlled individually by three active switches. In addition, a simple capacitor-based passive current balancing circuit (CBC) is employed in each port to guarantee that the currents of the four LEDs are the same. When compared with the conventionally used separate two-output isolated converters, the proposed one uses one less active switch. Moreover, zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) is achieved, which improves the power efficiency of the driver. Finally, a highly compact prototype is built, which can reach an efficiency of 94.6%.

  • Novel bipolar transresistance amplifier(TRA) for high-accuracy current-mode signal processing is described. The TRA consists of two current follower for the current inputs, a current summer for curent-differential, and a voltage follower for the voltage output. The simulation results show that the impedence of the current input and the voltage output is 0.5 $\Omega$ and the 3-dB cutoff frequency when used as a current to voltage converter extends beyond 40 MHz.

A Study on the Step-up PWM Cycloconverter (승압형 PWM 싸이크로 콘버터에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes a new PWM cycloconverter which can step up input voltage. With input reactors ac power supply acts as current source, and with output capacitors the balanced output voltage is build-up. The converter is modeled with fourth order state equation using dq transformation and the steady state characteristics are evaluated. It is shown that the proposed converter can generate the output voltage 2-5 times greater than input voltage. The output voltage and input current have sinusoidal and smooth waveforms and the converter is capable of voltage build-up. The characteristics of the proposed converter is verified simulation and experiment.

  • A digital dual-channel interleaved phase-shift full-bridge converter is investigated in this paper, and its topology and principle are analyzed. To realize current sharing and stabilize the output voltage, a controller with current sharing loop and closed voltage loop is employed. In addition, current sharing will increase the output current fluctuation and a new digital interleaved driving technology is proposed to reduce the output current ripple. To verify the analysis, simulation and experiments are carried out, which shows the effectiveness of the proposed control strategies.

  • An electric vehicle operates at high currents and requires real-time monitoring of the entire system for ensuring efficiency and safety of the vehicle. Current sensors are applied to drive the motors, inverters, and battery control systems, and are the key components to ensure constant monitoring of the magnitude and waveforms of the operating current. In this study, a heat treatment process condition to influence the performance of Permalloy current sensors was developed; the correlation between the output capacity, low-temperature characteristics, and high-temperature characteristics of the current sensor was studied; and the process was optimized to meet the required output accuracy and temperature characteristics.

  • In the distribution networks, it is necessary to develop small and light voltage and current sensor for compact and digitalized switchgears. For this purpose, some researches have been continuing till now, CT(current transformer) and VT(voltage transformer) are one of that research. But conventional CT and VT have some problems, that is, have big size and saturation characteristics because of used to iron core. In this paper, CS(current sensor) and VS(voltage sensor), have some merits measuring of current and voltage magnitude as a alternated conventional equipment, were studied. So, this paper shows the process CS and VS design method, equivalent circuit and output result, respectively. As a result of this test, proposed CS and VS have linearity for the output, no saturation.

  • The current type amplifier is the device that is used for an actuator as the motor's torque controller. However, it is too difficult to select the parameter value that has the desired output because the current type amplifier's transfer function is too complex. This study concern about the design of the current type amplifier with the desired output. From the modeled transfer function of the current type amplifier, the optimal parameter values of the transfer function can be selected in order to have the desired output using the Real Coded Genetic Algorithm(RCGA). The real circuit is made with the selected parameter value. The step response of the real circuit is in good agreement with the desired step response.
