A Study on the Output Characteristics Comparison of High Frequency Resonant Inverter Type X-ray Generators in Short Exposure Time (고주파 공진형 인버터식 X-선 장치의 단시간 출력특성 비교 연구)

  • This paper deals with the output characteristics of resonant PWM inverter type X-ray generators connected to different DC power units i.e. a single phase full bridge rectifier, a three phase full bridge rectifier and a power storage unit(PSU). The quality of X-ray beam depends on the pulsating waveforms of DC voltage supplied to the X-ray tube. In a X-ray generator, the waveform of DC output voltage can be affected from affected from harmonic distortion of DC input power. When a tube voltage waveform is distorted, the property of X-ray beam such as reproducibility, linearity and dose can be reduced. Therefore, we compared DC output waveforms and dose with three type of DC power units and show the experimental results in this paper.

  • The SMZ half-bridge converter uses the resonance between the inductance of transformer and the resonant capacitances to transfer the input power to the load. In addition to this kind of characteristic of the converter, there are some features such as the capability of soft switching operation, a lower switching loss, and a higher power density in the converter. However in the low-voltage and high-output current applications of the converter, the extremely increased output ripple voltage prevents the converter from normal operation. In order to overcome the drawback of the converter, adding the output filter inductor to the converter, the converter shows the completely different resonant characteristics. In this paper, We analyzed the resonant characteristics of the SMZ converter with the output filter inductor and investigated what the analyzed results affect the converter operation. The experiment of a I50W prototype SMZ converter with 5V output and 310V input is carried out to verity the validity of the analyzed results.

  • Testing was conducted to determine the performance of a residential fuel cell system when subjected to DSS and WSS operation, especially for start-up and shut-down characteristics. In terms of start-up time, it took about 70min to start output power generation and stably to reach 1kW at cold start. Measurement of the characteristics of heat and power generation were carried out at start-up and shut-down time. Fuel gas is used for heating both reformer and stack from start-up to the beginning of power generation. In terms of start-up and shut-down characteristics, it was important to control the reformer temperature precisely. The average output water temperature during the rated output operation(960W) was $63.2^{\circ}C$ constantly. The results of the investigation are being used to develop a new test protocols for residential fuel cell system.

  • This paper describes a 3-phase Line-Interactive APF system and analyzes its operating characteristics considering LC Filter output characteristics. Topology of APF is similar to that of Off-Line UPS in the point of parallelly operating inverter system. So it is possible to be multi-functioned active compensating system according to power condition. Likewise this actively operating system from APF to UPS and vice versa is often to be called Line-Interactive system. And more than that Line-Interactive system needs precise design of LC filter on converter output side to make this system fully operate in both APF and UPS modes. The problem in this point is how to design LC Filter to be contented with two different system characteristics so this paper analyzes this problem and proposes its design procedures. Then suggested filter design is verified to be contented by the simulations and experimental results

  • An electric vehicle operates at high currents and requires real-time monitoring of the entire system for ensuring efficiency and safety of the vehicle. Current sensors are applied to drive the motors, inverters, and battery control systems, and are the key components to ensure constant monitoring of the magnitude and waveforms of the operating current. In this study, a heat treatment process condition to influence the performance of Permalloy current sensors was developed; the correlation between the output capacity, low-temperature characteristics, and high-temperature characteristics of the current sensor was studied; and the process was optimized to meet the required output accuracy and temperature characteristics.

  • In this paper, polycrystalline silicon thin film transistor using by Solid Phase Crystallization(SPC) were fabricated, and these devices were measured and analyzed the electrical output and transfer characteristics along to DC voltage stress. The transfer characteristics of polycrystalline silicon thin film transistor depended on drain and gate voltages. Threshold voltage is high with long channel length and narrow channel width. And output characteristics of polycrystalline silicon thin film transistor flowed abruptly much higher drain current. The devices induced electrical stress are decreased drain current. At last, field effect mobility is the faster as channel length is high and channel width is narrow.

  • This paper discussed the theoretical simulation results for developing the blumlein pulsed power source and showed the circuit configuration and the discharge characteristics of the realistic manufactured pulsed power system. In the simulation, the output voltage characteristics at a load resistor showed the general impulse shape when the impedance of a single coaxial cable is matched with the that of a load resistor. In addition, it is confirmed that output values of the pulsed power can be easily controlled by the duplication of coaxial cables and the pulsed waveform showed the general impulse characteristics. Specifically, the inception discharge voltage in the gap distance of 5[mm] between needle and plane electrodes is about 20[kV] and which is lower than about 29[kV] in 9[mm] due to the difference of the reaching time of the inception voltage. Therefore, this paper showed that the output voltage of the blumlein pulsed power source can be easily controlled.

  • The resonance characteristics on vibration mode of a transverse type ceramic resonator and the output voltage characteristics of a piezoelectric ceramic transformer are discussed in the effects of partial electrode arrangement (one sided, centered and both sided). A resonance characteristics of resonator depended strongly on both a vibration mode and a electrode structure because of a strain distribution. The maximum resonance current of a piezoelectric ceramic transformer [PCT] with partial centered electrode appeared in λ/2 mode, and that of a PCT with partial both sided electrode appeared in 3λ/2 mode. But the maximum output voltage of those samples appeared in λ/2 mode. In the PCT with partial both sided electrode, the ration of output voltage to input current was highest out of all samples and the poling voltage was a half times of 깬두 type transformer.

  • On this paper, a circular unimorph-type piezoelectric transducer was proposed and studied. The transducer was fabricated by attaching a circular-shaped PZT ceramic to a circular plate of brass and output characteristics of the fabricated transducer were then analyzed and measured by changing driving points where the mechanical vibrations were applied. Two conditions depending on the location of vibration were respectively defined as a center forced model and an edge forced model. The resonance frequency and output voltage of the models were simulated by using ANSYS, a FEM(finite element method) program. Based on the results of the analyses, the vibration experiment was conducted and the output characteristics then measured through measurement equipment. As a result, the maximum output characteristics of two models were respectively generated at each resonance frequency and the resonance frequency of the center forced model was lower than the edge forced model.

  • When multi-carriers are applied to the high power amplifier(HPA) having nonlinear characteristics, the HPA output has unwanted IMD signals. The IMD signal is noise in the HPA. The magnitude and phase of the main and IMD signal of HPA output are changed as the input signal power is changed. If we know exactly the magnitude and phase characteristics of the main and IMD signal, we can design a more adequate linearizer and understand the characteristics of transistor. In this paper the magnitude and phase of the main and IMD signal of HPA output are measured and analyzed for variation of the input power.
