Objective : This study's purpose was to review the clinical studies of Oryeong-San. Method : We searched papers about Oryeong-San using KISS, KTKP, PUBMED, Embase, Science Direct, and the key words "Goreisan", "Goreito", "Wu Ling San", "Oryeongsan", "Poria Five Powder" were used. Papers not matched with inclusion criteria were excluded. Results : Until today, there have been 133 studies on the effects of head diseases, urinary system diseases, edema, and other various effects of Oryeong-San. Of these, 23 studies were classified as clinical research papers. There were 8 cases of head diseases, 5 cases of urinary system diseases, 3 cases of edema, 2 cases of adjuvant, 1 case of Dysmenorrhea, 1 case of Primary Hypertension, 1 case of Primary Insomnia, 1 case of hydrocele, 1 case of side effects causing TINU syndrome. Conclusion : It can be seen that Oryeong-San has established the basis for application to the purpose of head disease(chronic subdural hematoma, hydrocephalus, hearing loss), urinary system disease(stone, urinary tract infection), edema, adjuvant, other hypertension and insomnia. On the other hand, considering one case that causes side effect of TINU syndrome, caution should be exercised when observing the progress of the patient taking the Oryeong-San.

Objective : This case report aims to demonstrate the effect of Herbal medicine on menopausal syndrome. Methods : A 54 years woman suffered from menopausal syndrome with hot flush, insomnia and dyspepsia. According to Diagnostic system based on Shanghanlun provisions, the patient was diagnosed with Taeyang-byung and treated by Sosiho-tang decoction at first. But the next time the patient visited, she was treated by Oryeong-san decoction. The result of administrations were evaluated by Kupperman's index(KI), Menopause rating scale(MRS). Results : After administration of Sosiho-tang decoction for 35 days, KI was decreased from 50 to 19, MRS was decreased from 9 to 4. But her chronic dyspepsia wasn't getting better. So the KMD prescribed Oryeong-san decoction. After administration of Oryeong-san decoction for 14 days, KI was decreased from 19 to 0, MRS was decreased from 4 to 1. And her chronic dyspepsia was functionally improved. Conclusions : The patient completely recovered from menopausal syndrome and dyspepsia as treated by Sosiho-tang decoction and Oryeong-san decoction according to Diagnostic system based on Shanghanlun provisions.

Objetives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Oryeong-san on adult whole-body atopic dermatitis. Methods : We treated a 21-year-old male patient who have adult whole-body atopic dermatitis by Korean medicine. This treatment was enforced from 2019.5.25 to 2019.6.29. And we have confirmed the improvement of itching, rashes and oozing. We recorded photos that includes change of symptoms. Results : After the treatments was done, the grade of VAS and SCORAD was decreased. The VAS grade was decreased from grade 8 to grade 2. The SCORAD score was decreased from 72.1 to 52.1. And itching, rashes, oozing were clearly decreased. Conclusions : Oryeong-san has effect on decreasing itching, rashes and oozing. Also, sleeping time reduced due to itchness was normalized. Thus, It is able that Oryeong-san works on skin desease like atopic dermatitis.

Purpose: This paper aims to report the effects of Oryeong-san on lower urinary tract infection. Methods: Four women were admitted to Dunsan Oriental Hospital with chief complaint that was not supposed to be a symptom of urinary tract infection. During the admission, urine test showed pyuria with white blood cell and their chief complain also accompanied. We prescribed Oryeong-san three times a day, and then took follow-up 4 days later. Results: After treatment, symptoms of lower urinary tract infection were decreased and the results of urine test improved also. Conclusions: These cases indicate that Oryeong-san is effective in treatment of the lower urinary tract infection.

Objectives Hydrocele is a common disease found in pediatrics and is usually treated by hydrocelectomy, and even after the unilateral repair of hydrocele, it has been reported that the contralateral hydrocele still occurs in 5.4-12.5%. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to conduct a case study of contralateral hydrocele treated by Oryeong-san and Bangkeehwangkee-tang (五苓散 合 防己黃芪湯). Methods A patient diagnosed with San Syndrome (Su-San) (水疝) was administered Oryeong-san and Bangkeehwangkee-tang (五苓散 合 防己黃芪湯). Results The sizes of hydrocele and symptoms were reduced. Conclusions In the case of contralateral occurrence after unilateral repair of hydrocele in children, it is better to select a safer treatment than operation considering other possible complications. In this report, we have proven that Oryeong-san and Bangkeehwangkee-tang (五苓散 合 防己黃芪湯) can be very effective in reducing the size of hydrocele, improving symptoms and preventing recurrence.

Introduction: Chronic subdural hemorrhage (CSDH) primarily affects the elderly, and its incidence is rising due to aging trends. Although burr-hole craniostomy is a common treatment for CSDH, it often has a high recurrence rate and can sometimes result in poor outcomes. Oryeong-san, a traditional Korean medicine, is emerging as a potential remedy, with documented cases in both Korea and Japan. Case Presentation: In March 2021, a patient was diagnosed with an intracerebral hemorrhage in the left basal ganglia. A subsequent brain computed tomography in June 2022 revealed CSDH. Given the potential need for surgery if no CSDH absorption occurred, the patient was treated with Oryeong-san. Later computed tomography scans indicated that surgery was no longer necessary. Conclusions: This study evaluated the efficacy of Oryeong-san in treating CSDH. The results demonstrated complete CSDH absorption with no observed side effects, highlighting Oryeong-san as a promising and safe therapeutic option.

Oryeong-san is a prescription widely used for diseases where water is stagnant because it has the effect of circulating the water in the body and releasing it into the urine. In order to investigate the mechanisms of oryeong-san, we in this paper construct and analysis the compound-target network of medicinal materials constituting oryeong-san based on a systems pharmacology approach. First, the targets related to the 475 chemical compounds of oryeong-san were searched in the STITCH database, and the search results for the interactions between compounds and targets were downloaded as XML files. The compound-target network of oryeong-san is visualized and explored using Gephi 0.8.2, which is an open-source software for graphs and networks. In the network, nodes are compounds and targets, and edges are interactions between the nodes. The edge is weighted according to the reliability of the interaction. In order to analysis the compound-target network, it is clustered using MCL algorithm, which is able to cluster the weighted network. A total of 130 clusters were created, and the number of nodes in the cluster with the largest number of nodes was 32. In the clustered network, it was revealed that the active compounds of medicinal materials were associated with the targets for regulating the blood pressure in the kidney. In the future, we will clarify the mechanisms of oryeong-san by linking the information on disease databases and the network of this research.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Leejung-tang plus Oryung-san Gamibang on functional diarrhea.Method : We treated a 72-year-old male who had severe watery diarrhea and bowel sounds. The patient was treated with Korean medicine including Oryung-san Gamibang from March 31, 2016 to May 23, 2016. Defecation frequency, Bristol stool scale, Bowel sound, Patient's condition were measured.Result : After oriental medical treatment, clinical symptoms of functional diarrhea (defecation frequency, stool form, bowel sounds) were recoverd normally.Conclusions : Leejung-tang plus Oryeong-san Gamibang effects on the functional diarrhea of a patient diagnosed as Deficiency Cold (虛寒). This case study shows that Oryeong-san Gamibang is clinically effective for functional diarrhea. So that, it is helpful in decreasing the symptoms of a patient and in improving quality of life.

■ Objectives This case is to report the effect of Oryeong-san and acupuncture therapy on serum creatinine level of a cerebral infarction patient with diabetic nephropathy. ■ Methods A female Korean patient was treated with Oryeong-san, acupuncture for total 32 days. We observed renal function test, input/output balance, body weight, hand and foot circumferences, and other symptoms like edema, urination, and any adverse event. ■ Results After treatment, serum creatinine level was improved to 2.48mg/dL from 3.45mg/dL at admission, and foot circumference was decreased to 18.5~18.9cm from 22.0~22.5cm without any adverse event. However, we couldn't find any significant differences on input/output balance, body weight, or symptoms of urination. ■ Conclusion This case suggests that Oryeong-san and acupuncture therapy could be effective in improving serum creatinine clearance of cerebral infarction patient with diabetic nephropathy.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Korean medicine treatment on a patient suffering from nausea, vomiting, and headache. Methods: We applied herbal medicine (Oryeong-san, Wiryeong-tang) and acupuncture to the patient. Clinical symptoms were assessed with a numeral rating scale (NRS). Results: After treatment, the nausea, vomiting and headache symptoms were improved, and the NRS score showed improvement. Conclusion: This case shows that Korean medicine treatments are effective in alleviating the symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and headache.
