  • Purpose - This study aims to examine the dynamic relationship between the variables impacted by the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the level of intra-industry trade among member states, with the ultimate objective of deducing the short- and long-term effects of RCEP on trade. Design/methodology - This study focuses on tariffs, GDP growth rates, and the proportion of regional FDI to total FDI as research variables, and employs a panel vector autoregression model and GMM-style estimator to investigate the dynamic relationship between RCEP and intra-industry trade among member countries. Findings - The study finds that the level of intra-industry trade between member states is positively impacted by both tariffs and intra-regional FDI. The impulse response graph shows that tariffs and FDI within the region can promote intra-industry trade among member countries, with a quick response. However, the contribution rates of tariffs and intra-regional FDI are not particularly high at approximately 1.5% and 1.4%, respectively. In contrast, the contribution rate of GDP growth can reach around 8.5%. This implies that the influence of economic growth rate on intra-regional trade in industries is not only long-term but also more powerful than that of tariffs and intra-regional FDI. Originality/value - The originality of this study lies in providing a new approach to investigating the potential impact of RCEP while avoiding the limitations associated with the GTAP model. Additionally, this study addresses existing gaps within the research, further contributing to the research merit of the study.

  • Purpose - With the recent spread of COVID-19, U.S. consumers' consumption pattern is changing towards purchasing large-capacity products, as they stay at home longer. Thus, the current research investigates the effects of box shape and component diversity for large-sized products on product evaluation in logistic business. Moreover, this research examines that information-processing fluency mediates the moderating effects of box shape and product components on target evaluations to confirm psychological mechanism for generating this effect. Design/methodology - In order to examine the hypotheses, the current research conducts two online experiments. The 184 participants (Study 1), and 205 participants (Study 2) of U.S. nationality were recruited through Amazon Mechanical Turk. This research analyzes the data by using SPSS 25 and PROCESS macro 4.0. Findings - Study 1 demonstrates that when the height of a box is greater than its width, products with single components promote positive target evaluations, while when the width of box is greater than its height, products with a variety of components lead to positive target evaluations. Study 2 shows that the same results are replicated in other product categories and with different box shape ratios. Moreover, Study 2 also finds that the ease of information processing mediates the interaction effects of box shape and component diversity on U.S. consumers' target evaluations. Originality/value - The current research has originality in that it investigates the effect of box shape and product composition diversity on U.S. consumer product evaluation from the perspective of information-processing theory Moreover, this research has practical implications for global traders who prepare for entering the U.S. market.

  • Purpose - This study examines previous research on organizational silence for several decades since the concept of organizational silence was firstly suggested in 2000. In this study, based on previous studies on organizational silence published in domestic and international journals from 2010 to 2022, research trends were analyzed, issues were derived, and future research was suggested. Design/methodolgy/approach - The authors searched relevant keywords such as organizational silence, employee silence, employee voice and so on in the domestic as well as international academic database. 63 domestic papers were found, and based on these articles, we analyzed the research trends. Findings - Similar variables were proven with only different contextual samples without any originality in the theoretical perspective. Moreover, studies on the causal relationship between each type of organizational silence and the occurrence of organizational silence over time were also insufficient. In addition, because research on public organizations was limited to police officers and public officials, future research is needed to investigate more different organizational situations. Furthermore, other variables such as personal characteristics and leadership factors were also relatively unexplored. Based on these limitations, future research is needed to consider more diverse demographics, Korean cultural factors, organizational characteristics, and the patterns changes in time. Research implications or Originality - This study suggests limitations as well as future directions by summarizing the previous research on organizational silence which is an emerging issue in global societies and the organizational management filed.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between the ability of students' raising creative problems and academic achievement, science inquiry skills and creative personality of high school students. In order to evaluate the originality of problems, the present study used three methods: evaluation by frequency, teacher, and student. The results in this study turned out to be as follows: First, there was not much difference in the three methods. But familiar problems had the possibility of receiving higher marks. Second, the ability of students' raising creative problems was significantly correlated with academic achievement and creative personality, but there was no correlation with science inquiry skills. The subjects were divided into 2 groups by students' originality score. In the higher score group, the ability of students' raising creative problems was significantly correlated with creative personality, but in the lower score group, it was significantly correlated with academic achievement. Third, as for science inquiry skills and creative personality between two groups, there was no significant difference, whereas as for academic achievement(physics I, chemistry I), there was significant difference.

  • In this paper, a novel stator hybrid excited doubly salient permanent magnet (SHEDS-PM) brushless machine with a special magnetic bridge is proposed for the first time. The originality of this machine is purposely to add a magnetic bridge in shunt with each PM pole, which not only maintains the stator lamination in its entireness, but also amplifies the effect of DC field flux on PM flux. An equivalent magnetic circuit is presented to clarify the novelty. Based on the 2-D finite element analysis, the static characteristics of the SHEDS-PM machine, namely phase flux linkage, back-EMF, cogging torque, winding inductance and static torque are deduced. The corresponding results on a prototype machine illustrate that the proposed machine is promising for application to electric vehicles.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this literature is to establish theoretical bases of using thermotherapy of cutaneous and muscle meridian(hot poultice). Methods : We reviewed literatures and books about thermotherapy in Traditional Korean medicine. Results and conclusions : Thermotherapy of cutaneous and muscle meridian(hot poultice) has developed from Yu-fa(熨法), a kind of poultice(also called cataplasm). Using it practically in the clinic, we simultaneously analyzed the distributions of cutaneous meridian(經法) and muscle meridian(經筋) and observed the symptoms of a disease to select treatment region. It has characteristic and originality differentiated form western physical therapy because it makes the function of whole body as well as an affected part better.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships between children's information processing style and creativity. The subjects were 40 5-year-old kindergarten students in Busan. The K-ABC (Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children, 1987) test and Torrance's TTCT were used to examine the relationships between children's information processing style and creativity. This analysis showed no significant correlation between information processing style and creativity. On the other hand, the sequential processing style affected fluency and the simultaneous processing style affected originality, elaboration, and abstractness of titles.

  • The main purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships of children's creativity to field independence-dependence cognitive style and demographic variables at age 5. The subjects for the present study were 86 five-year-old boys and girls selected from two kindergartens in Seoul and their parents, who replied to the questionnaire about demographic variables. Children were tested in groups, with the Torrance tests of Creative Thinking-Figural, and individually with the Preschool Embedded Figures Test. The data were analyzed by one way ANOVA, t-test, and Pearson's product-moment correlations. Children's fluency and originality in creativity showed significant positive correlations with field dependent-independent cognitive style. There were no significant differences in creativity according to sex. There were significant differences in field dependent-independent cognitive style according to sex. The score of field independent cognitive style of boys were significantly higher than those of girls. Children's creativity showed low correlations with demographic variables.
