Power Circuit Breaker uses a variable-speed cam mechanism actuated by pre-loaded spring force. This paper presents the optimal design procedure for a variable-speed cam mechanism based on the dynamic model of a complete spring-actuated cam system. The optimal cam is compared with an original cam. Simulation results show that the dynamic behaviors of the designed cam are superior to those of the original cam.

The DOR (Drainage outlet raising) in the paddy field has been suggested as one of the most important best management practices for the TMDL (Total maximum daily load) management in the technical guidelines by the NIER (National institute of environmental research). However, this method is underestimated and is not well adopted by local governments for the TMDL. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the unit load reduction equation according to the application of DOR in order to expand this equation. The original equation in the guideline was derived using the HSPF (Hydrological Simulation Program-Fortran) model for 1 year in Changnyeong. We analyzed the reduction effect of the original equation application by collecting additional long-term monitoring data from the Buan, Icheon, Iksan, and Jeonju. When comparing the reduction loads between the original equation and monitoring results, the evaluation results of the original equation were 11% of the monitoring analysis results, which was underestimated. This means that the original equation needs to be improved. For assessing the equation, the HSPF Paddy-RCH model was established according to the NI ER guideline and evaluated for applicability. The performance results of the model showed a reasonable range by the statistical criteria. Modified equations 1 and 2 were proposed based on the monitoring and modeling results. Modified equation 1 was the method of modifying the original equation's main factors, and modified equation 2 was the method of applying the non-point pollution reduction efficiency according to the rainfall class using the long-term modeling results. At the level of 58.6~64.6% of monitoring data, the difference between them could be further reduced compared to the original equation. The suggested approach will be more reasonable and practicable for decision-makers and will contribute to the TMDL management plans.

This paper proposes a miniaturized half-circular-slot UWB antenna. Using an analysis of the neld patterns, we show that the original circular-slot UWB antenna operates on a series of multi-pole radiation based on $TE_n$ modes, and a perfect magnetic wall exists along an axis of symmetry on the antenna. Using the perfect magnetic wall we designed and fabricated the miniaturized UWB antenna on RF-60A substrate with t=0.64mm, ${\varepsilon}_r=6.15\;and\;tan\;{\delta}=0.0025$, which not only has the half size of the original but also maintains UWB characteristics. The measured gain of the miniaturized antenna is $-2.1{\sim}4.3dBi$, which is comparable with the gain, $-2.7{\sim}3.1dBi$, of the original circular-slot UWB antenna. The radiation pattern is also similar to that of the original antenna.
Background: A gamma energy identifying algorithm using spectral decomposition combined with smoothing method was suggested to confirm the existence of the artificial radio isotopes. The algorithm is composed by original pattern recognition method and smoothing method to enhance the performance to identify gamma energy of radiation sensors that have low energy resolution. Materials and Methods: The gamma energy identifying algorithm for the compact radiation sensor is a three-step of refinement process. Firstly, the magnitude set is calculated by the original spectral decomposition. Secondly, the magnitude of modeling error in the magnitude set is reduced by the smoothing method. Thirdly, the expected gamma energy is finally decided based on the enhanced magnitude set as a result of the spectral decomposition with the smoothing method. The algorithm was optimized for the designed radiation sensor composed of a CsI (Tl) scintillator and a silicon pin diode. Results and Discussion: The two performance parameters used to estimate the algorithm are the accuracy of expected gamma energy and the number of repeated calculations. The original gamma energy was accurately identified with the single energy of gamma radiation by adapting this modeling error reduction method. Also the average error decreased by half with the multi energies of gamma radiation in comparison to the original spectral decomposition. In addition, the number of repeated calculations also decreased by half even in low fluence conditions under $10^4$ ($/0.09cm^2$ of the scintillator surface). Conclusion: Through the development of this algorithm, we have confirmed the possibility of developing a product that can identify artificial radionuclides nearby using inexpensive radiation sensors that are easy to use by the public. Therefore, it can contribute to reduce the anxiety of the public exposure by determining the presence of artificial radionuclides in the vicinity.
Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of 20-day litter weight on behavior and heart rate variability (HRV) of piglets under stress. Methods: Forty four original litters were categorized as high litter weight (HW) litters (n = 22) and low litter weight (LW) litters (n = 22) by 20-day litter weight. From each original HW litter, three males and three females were randomly selected after weaning and the 12 piglets from two original litters with similar age of days were regrouped into one new high litter weight (NHW) litter (11 NHW litters in total). The original LW litters were treated with a same program, so that there were 11 new low litter weight (NLW) litters as well. The latencies to first fighting, fighting frequencies and duration within three hours were recorded after regrouping and the lesions on body surface within 48 hours were scored. Besides, HR (heart rate, bpm, beats per minute) and activity count (ACT), time domain indexes and frequency domain indexes of the piglets were measured in an isolation trial to analyze the discrepancy in coping with stress between the original HW and LW litters. Results: The results exhibited that piglets from the HW litters launched fighting sooner and got statistically higher skin lesion score than those from the LW litters (p = 0.03 and 0.02, respectively). Regarding the HRV detection, compared with the HW litters, the LW litters exhibited a lower mean HR (p<0.05). In the isolation test, a highly significant higher ACT value was observed between the HW litters, compared to the LW litters (p<0.01). Significant differences were observed in standard deviation of R-R intervals, standard deviation of all normal to normal intervals, and most frequency-domain indicators: very low-frequency, low-frequency, and high frequency between the HW and LW litters as well. The difference in LF:HF was not significant (p = 0.779). Conclusion: This study suggests that compared with litters of low 20-day litter weights, litters with higher 20-day litter weight take more positive strategies to cope with stress and have stronger HRV regulation capacity; HW litters demonstrate better anti-stress and adaptation capacity in the case of regrouping and isolation.

From the 1950s, the science parks were begun the composition as a way for innovation and commercialization in the world around developed countries. Since the 1980s, Korea also starting with quantitative investment in R & D for technology innovation, so far has been a continuous effort. Korea's patent creation level according to these R & D investment is already within the world's top 10, but the fact that the domestic technology trade balance appearing current competitive level compared to the developed technology is very insufficient. This means that the creation of economic value is low as compared with financial commitment. Therefore the plans to ensure the economic value through technology are required. As one of plans to do this for local economy activation through technical advances, constructing regional innovation systems and making science parks have been made. These science parks are required to develop the basic original technology in order to secure new growth engines, but the science parks in Korea are facing difficulties of performing research and development for regional industry advancement and local economy activation. Accordingly, this study attempts to organize the concept of 'science park' is similar but there is difference, and to compare institutions with similar functions based on regional innovation systems theory. In addition, the study is to obtain the application plans of basic original technology in science & research Parks through the model for overcoming weaknesses of Korea's innovation system and enabling organic cross-linking between institutions.

The objective of this paper is to propose a new technology of the orthopaedic surgery using the combination of reverse engineering (RE) based on CT data and rapid prototyping (RP). The proposed technology utilizes symmetrical characteristics of the human body and capability of the combination of RE and RP, which rapidly manufactures three-dimensional parts from CT data. The original .stl data of injured extents are generated from the mirror transformation of .stl file fur uninjured extents. The physical shape before injuring is manufactured from RP using the original .stl data. Subsequently, pre-operative planning, such as a selection of proper implants, preforming of the implant, a decision of fixation locations and an insert position for the implant, an estimation of the invasive size, and pre-education of operators are performed using the physical shape. In order to examine the applicability and the efficiency of the proposed surgical technology, various case studies, such as a distal tibia commented fracture, a proximal tibia plateau fracture and an iliac wing fracture of pelvis, are carried out. From the results of case studies, it has been shown that the proposed technology is an effective surgical tool of the orthopaedic surgery reducing the operational time, the operational cost, the radiation exposure of the patient and operators, and morbidity. In addition, the proposed technology could improve the accuracy of operation and the speed of rehabilitation.
We conducted a sensitivity analysis of the simulated moving bed (SMB) chromatography with the case model of the separation of two amino acids phenylalanine and tryptophan. We consider a four-zone SMB chromatography where the triangle theory is used to determine the operating conditions. Competitive Langmuir isotherm model was used to determine the adsorption isotherm. The finite difference method is used to solve nonlinear partial differential equation (PDE) systems numerically. We examined the effects of alterations in the operating conditions(feed-extract, feed-raffinate, eluent-extract, eluent-raffinate, recycle, and switching time) and the adsorption isotherm parameters (Langmuir isotherm parameters a and b) on SMB efficiency. The variation range of operating conditions and Langmuir isotherm a was between -50 and 50% of original value and the variation range of the Langmuir isotherm b was between $2.25^{-5}$ and $2.25^5$ times of original value.

This paper proposes a linear system control algorithm with collision avoidance in multiple satellites. Consideration of collision avoidance is augmented by adding a weighting term in the cost function of the original tracking problem in linear quadratic control (LQC). Because the proposed algorithm relies on a similar solution procedure to the original LQC, its inherent advantages, including gain-robustness and optimality, are preserved. To confirm and visualize the derived algorithm, a simple example of two-vehicle motion in the two-dimensional plane is illustrated. In addition, the proposed collision avoidance control is applied to satellite formation flying, and verified by numerical simulations.
Two kinds of sepharose-bound pronases were successfully prepared. The immobilized pronase, directly coupled to cyanogen-bromide activated sepharose, retains 22.6% of original specific activity against casein. However, ${\omega}-aminoalkyl$ sepharose immobilized pronases, in which extension arms of ${\omega}-aminoalkyl$ group $(number\;of\;-CH_2-\;is\;8,\;10,\;and\;12)$ are used, retain almost 100% of original specific activity. Studies of enzyme stability, pH dependence, temperature dependence, and Km values are presented.
