  • Object recognition in the field of robotics generally has depended on a computer vision system. Recently, RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) has been suggested as technology that supports object recognition. This paper, introduces the advanced RFID-based recognition using a novel tag which is named a 3D tag. The 3D tag was designed to facilitate object recognition. The proposed RFID system not only detects the existence of an object, but also estimates the orientation and position of the object. These characteristics allow the robot to reduce considerably its dependence on other sensors for object recognition. In this paper, we analyze the characteristics of the 3D tag-based RFID system. In addition, the estimation methods of position and orientation using the system are discussed.

  • The effects of the deposition temperature on the growth characteristics of the ZnO films were studied for film bulk acoustic wave resonator (FBAR) device applications. All films were deposited using a radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering technique. It was found that the growth characteristics of the ZnO films have a strong dependence on the deposition temperature from 25 to $350^{\circ}C$. The ZnO films deposited below $200^{\circ}C$ exhibited reasonably good columnar grain structures with a highly preferred c-axis orientation while those above 200°C showed very poor columnar grain structures with a mixed-axis orientation. This study seems very useful for the future FBAR device applications.

  • Advertising is the most powerful marketing communication tool. Fashion magazines are a popular media for fashion advertising because of their multi-color visual printing. In this study, the interest in and attitude toward fashion advertising were investigated with high school girls in Seoul, along with their interrelation with buying experience and post-purchase satisfaction. The consciousness of the endorser and the fashion of celebrities both increased with rising interest in fashion advertisement. However, the brand orientation showed no relationship with the interest in fashion advertisement. The interest in fashion advertisement was useful to explain buying experience with limited variance. The correlation between brand orientation and buying experience increased with rising interest in fashion advertisement, indicating that those with little interest in fashion advertisement showed strong dependence on brand loyalty. Those with more interest in fashion advertisement counted distinctive aspects of fashion advertisement more seriously. Affective aspects of fashion advertisement showed a correlation with buying experience and post-purchase satisfaction.

  • Aluminum nitride(AlN) thin films were deposited on silicon substrate by reactive RF magnetron sputtering without substrate heating. We investigated the dependence of some properties for AlN thin film on sputtering conditions such as working pressure, $N_2$ concentration and RF power. XRD, Ellipsometer and AES has been measured to find out structural properties and preferred orientation of AlN thin films. Deposition rate of AlN thin film was increased with an increase of RF power and decreased with an increase of $N_2$ concentration. AES in-depth measurements showed that stoichiometry of Aluminium and Nitrogen elements were not affected by $N_2$ concentration. It has shown that low working pressure, low $N_2$ concentration and high RF power should be maintained to deposit AlN thin film with a high degree of (0002) preferred orientation.

  • Recently in order to describe the complex rheological behavior of polymer melts with long side branches like low density polyethylene, new constitutive equations called the pom-pom equations have been derived by McLeish and Larson on the basis of the reptation dynamics with simplified branch structure taken into account. In this study mathematical stability analysis under short and high frequency wave disturbances has been performed for the simplified differential version of these constitutive equations. It is proved that they are globally Hadamard stable except for the case of maximum constant backbone stretch (λ = q) with arm withdrawal s$\_$c/ neglected, as long as the orientation tensor remains positive definite or the smooth strain history in the now is previously given. However this model is dissipative unstable, since the steady shear How curves exhibit non-monotonic dependence on shear rate. This type of instability corresponds to the nonlinear instability in simple shear flow under finite amplitude disturbances. Additionally in the flow regime of creep shear flow where the applied constant shear stress exceeds the maximum achievable value in the steady now curves, the constitutive equations will possibly violate the positive definiteness of the orientation tensor and thus become Hadamard unstable.

  • We have suggested an equivalent circuit model for switching performance of bipolar spin transistor composed of a nonmagnetic metal film (N) sandwiched between two ferromagnetic metal films (F1 and F2). The 'ON' or 'OFF' operation of this equivalent circuit model is simulated by depending on the orientation of the magnetization of F1 and F2 rather than the strength of the external magnetic filed. Changing the coupling coefficient, turn number of two inductances, (L1:L2) like a transformer, and parallel variable resistance R4 connected to L2 at the collector region, we can explain the magnetic characteristics and the dependence of magneto resistance ratio on the orientation of spin-polarized electrons.

  • Theoretical model for membrane transport of large polye!ectroiyte is presented. When the electric field is applied, the molecular conformation quickly orients in the field direction showing overshooting orientation. the predicted dependence of overshoot time and orientation upon field intensity and molecular size aids to understand the dynamic motion of molecules in membrane transport. The dynamics of the overshoot is associated with self-trapping conformations of molecule. The understanding of these effects supports evidences for the electrophoretic filtration of polydectrolyte in the polymeric membrane. This paper shows one example for molecular study in the theoretical review paper of membrane transport.

  • Single-grain (c-normal or c-parallel) and multi-grain YBCO superconductors were prepared by a melt growth process with/without seeding. The magnetic levitation force and trapped magnetic field at liquid N2 temperature (77 K) of the YBCO superconductors were investigated. Samples for the levitation force measurement were zero-field cooled (ZFC) to 77 K, and samples for trapped field measurement were field-cooled (FC) using Nd magnets. As for the magnetic levitation force, the c-normal, single grain sample showed the largest value, whereas the multi-grain sample showed the lowest value. The trapped magnetic field of the c-normal and c-parallel single-grain samples was 4-5 times that of the multi-grain sample. In addition, as the external magnetic field (the number of magnets) increased, the both properties increased proportionally. These results were explained in terms of the orientation dependence of the levitation forces and the magnetic field trapping capability of the YBCO superconductor.

  • NbN thin films were deposited on thermally oxidized Si substrate at room temperature by using reactive magnetron sputtering in an $Ar-N_2$ gas mixture. Total sputtering gas pressure was fixed while varying $N_2$ flow rate from 1.4 sccm to 2.9 sccm. X-ray diffraction pattern analysis revealed dominant NbN(200) orientation in the low $N_2$ flow rate but emerging of (111) orientation with diminishing (200) orientation at higher flow rate. The dependences of the superconducting properties on the $N_2$ gas flow rate were investigated. All the NbN thin films showed a small negative temperature coefficient of resistance with resistivity ratio between 300 K and 20 K in the range from 0.98 to 0.89 as the $N_2$ flow rate is increased. Transition temperature showed non-monotonic dependence on $N_2$ flow rate reaching as high as 11.12 K determined by the mid-point temperature of the transition with transition width of 0.3 K. On the other hand, the upper critical field showed roughly linear increase with $N_2$ flow rate up to 2.7 sccm. The highest upper critical field extrapolated to 0 K was 17.4 T with corresponding coherence length of 4.3 nm. Our results are discussed with the granular nature of NbN thin films.

  • We have investigated the effect of thickness of the MgB2 film on the grain growth direction as well as on their superconducting properties. $MgB_2$ films of various thicknesses were fabricated on c-cut $Al_2O_3$ substrates at a temperature of $540^{\circ}C$ by using hybrid physical-chemical vapor deposition (HPCVD) technique. The superconducting transition temperature ($T_c$) was found to increase with increase in the thickness of the $MgB_2$ film. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the orientation of grains changed from c-axis to a-axis upon increasing the thickness of the $MgB_2$ film from 0.6 to 2.0 ${\mu}m$. $MgB_2$ grains of various orientations were observed in the microstructures of the films examined by scanning electron microscopy. It is observed that at high magnetic fields the 2.0-${\mu}m$-thick film exhibit considerably larger critical current density ($J_c$) as compared to 0.6-${\mu}m$-thick film. The results are discussed in terms of an intrinsic-pinning in $MgB_2$ similarly as intrinsic-pinning occurring in high-Tc cuprate superconductors with layered structure.
