  • Sopung-san(SPS; prescription No. DO27), a herbal medicine prescribed by oriental hospital of Daegu fanny University, has been used as cure for pruritus and psoriasis. To evaluate anti-inflammatory effect of Sopung-san, we treated Sopung-san extract in animal model system induced contact hypersensitivity. Contact hypersensitivity, a local inflammatory response of the skin, was induced by 1% DNCB on the right ear of BALB/C mouse. Sopung-san was prepared as water extract and administrated everyday for 2 weeks per oral. A right ear of mouse was potently swelled by 1% of DNCB treatment, but a mouse ear thickness was significantly reduced by Sopung-san after 2 weeks. treatment. Sopung-san reduced IgG in serum obtained from blood of 1 % DNCB-treated mouse. IgE in serum was not changed by DNCB and/or Sopung-san treatment. $IL-1{\beta}$ and IL-6 from ear tissue were significantly increased by DNCB, Dut were not reduced by Sopung-san. From these results, anti-inflammatory effect of Sopung-san, especially reduction of ear swelling, might be partly due to reduction of IgG in serum.

  • The purpose of the study is to design the ontology-based Prescription Knowledge Management System of Oriental Medicine. The study was done with the premise that the effectiveness of the system can be improved by using ontological abstractional structure based on definition of concept, attribution and relations of words related to the specific area. The system is developed with Protege-2000 by using newly developed KPML(Korean Medicine Prescription Markup Language). The results of the study provide the model of Prescription Knowledge Management System and the possibility of implementing XML-based ontology system to the semantic web environment.

  • The lastest date, increasing H. pylori infected gastric ulceration is indispensible with treatment of Herb medicines. Because the lesser side and the more cure rate are necessary on clinical treatment. Thus, recently herd medicines of Chinese medical treatment exhibit the method of prescription. Therefore, I think the various prescription will be applied to H. pylori infected gastric ulceration on foward.

  • Treatment chart(醫案) is a document that doctors have described about their own practice. Western doctor's chart has a prescribed form, but otherwise chart of oriental medicine is a free form. As It has no prescribed form, doctors of oriental medicine have recorded important facts that they think especially. For example, details are patient's name, age, sex and address, the name of disease, state of pulse and tongue, state of secretions(stools, urine, perspiration, etc.), color of face, state of sleep and thirst, diagnosis, prescription, improvement of herb, teaching, and so forth. If we study on chart of oriental medicine, we draw a lesson about practices of a famous doctors. Through that we can increase ability of diagnosis and adaptation to circumstance, make ourselves familiar with use of past prescriptions and way of changing prescription, and learn narrative story of past doctors' personal experience, their though and teaching. As chart of oriental medicine had many methods to take a measure to meet the false situation, we can learn that. Through chart of oriental medicine, we can improve our practice of oriental medicine.

  • In Traditional Oriental Medicine, there has been a growing needs for computerized diagnosis expert system, which can implement pre-diagnosis and correct the errors of practitioners. Therefore, we developed the expert system (KHU-PIPE : Kyung Hee University - Pattern Identification and Prescription Expert) for diagnosis and treatment. It has three characteristics as following. First. this system has the knowledge base which modified the standardized data designed by Chinese government during 1980s. Second, it provides the objective and standardized diagnosis as the results of pattern identification and their appropriate prescriptions for treatment. Third, it is applied to both LAN system and internet. Furthermore, it can be used as an educational methods for the practices of pattern identification and prescription, and provide the objective criteria for clinical studies and promote the Traditional Oriental Medicine as an evidence-based medicine.
