We propose a cross-validatory method for the choice of the number of principal components in principal component regression based on the magnitudes of correlations with y. There are two different manners in choosing principal components, one is the order of eigenvalues(Shin and Moon, 1997) and the other is that of correlations with y. We apply our method to various data sets and compare results of those two methods.

This study was conducted to establish an individual identification system in Hanwoo cattle. Samples of 33 Hanwoo individuals from Korean elite sire families were used. Thirteen major microsatellite markers were selected from alleles amplified, their frequencies, H(Heterozygosity) and PIC(Polymorphism Information Content) with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Next, in order to evaluate the power of the markers selected on the individual animal identification, MP(Match probability) and R(Relatedness coefficient) with the percentage of animal incorrectly identified were computed. Finally nine microsatellite markers were selected and discussed.

기존의 화상처리 방법으로는 불필요한 정보까지 포함하여 특징을 추출하여 많은 시간이 소용된다는 문제점이 있었다. 본 논문에서 적합한 HLAF 알고리즘를 이용하여 홍채 병변 인식의 수렴속도를 빠르게 하는 신경망을 사용하였으며, HLAF 알고리즘이 일반 BP 알고리즘보다 수렴속도면과 병변 추출 인식면에서 훨씬 우수함을 보였다.

This paper proposes a method for producing smooth and positive estimates of the intensity function of an inhomogeneous Poisson process based on the shrinkage of wavelet coefficients of the observed counts. The information projection is used in conjunction with the level-dependent thresholds to yield smooth and positive estimates. This work is motivated by and demonstrated within the context of a problem involving gamma-ray burst data in astronomy. Simulation results are also presented in order to show the performance of the information projection estimators.

We use the so-called pseudoinversion of degenerate metrics technique on foliated compact null hypersurface, $M^{n+1}$, in Lorentzian manifold ${\overline{M}}^{n+2}$, to derive an integral formula involving the r-th order mean curvatures of its foliations, ${\mathcal{F}}^n$. We apply our formula to minimal foliations, showing that, under certain geometric conditions, they are isomorphic to n-dimensional spheres. We also use the formula to deduce expressions for total mean curvatures of such foliations.

This paper treats a robust design criterion which minimizes the effects of outliers and model inadequacy, and investigates robust designs for some response surface designs. In order to develop a robust design criterion and robust design, the integrated mean squared error of *(equation omitted) over a region is utilized, where *(equation omitted). is the estimated response by the minimum bias estimation proposed by carson, Manson and Hader (1969) . According to the number of aberrant observations and their positions, the proposed criterion and designs are studied. Also further development of the proposed criterion is treated when outliers can occur in any position of a design.

In this paper, we prove a uniqueness theorem of non-constant meromorphic functions of hyper-order less than 1 sharing two values CM and two partial shared values IM with their shifts. Our result in this paper improves and extends the corresponding results from Chen-Lin [2], Charak-Korhonen-Kumar [1], Heittokangas-Korhonen-Laine-Rieppo-Zhang [9] and Li-Yi [12]. Some examples are provided to show that some assumptions of the main result of the paper are necessary.

In case measurements are made on units of production in time order, it is reasonable to expect that the measurement errors will sometimes be first order autocorrelated, and a technique to test such autocorrelation is required to give good control of the productive process. Tool-wear process provide an example for which regression model can sometimes be useful in modeling and controlling the process. For the control of such process, we present a simple method for testing first order autocorrelation in regression errors. The method is based on Bayesian test method via Bayes factor and derived by observing that in general, a Bayes factor can be written as the product of a quantity called the Savage-Dickey density ratio and a correction factor ; both terms are easily estimated from Gibbs sampling technique. Performance of the method is examined by means of Monte Carlo simulation. It is noted that the test not only achieves satisfactory power but eliminates the inconvenience occurred in using the well-known Durbin-Watson test.

본 논문에서는 동일한 평균 전력을 가지며 주파수 비선택적 느린 나카가미 m-분포의 페이딩을 겪는 MPSK 신호들에 대한 다수의 다이버시티 가지 중 크기가 센 두세개의 신호를 순서대로 선택하고 합성하는 일반화된 선택성 합성 기법에 대한 평균 심벌 오류 확률식을 유도한다. 오류 확률식을 유도하기 위해 순서 통계량(Order Statistics)의 개념을 적용한다. 유도 과정에서 수신 신호의 확률 밀도 함수에 대한 새로운 전개가 소개되고 있으며, 다양한 수학적 기법들을 사용한다. 기존의 선택적 합성과 최대비 함성 기법과의 성능을 비교하여 적절한 다이버시티 가짓수를 찾는다.
