Computational calculations of molecular orbital and electrochemical redox/oxidation potentials are of very importance to determine the compound properties. The energy levels of molecular orbital were calculated by the density function theory (DFT) with exchange correction functional of local density approximation (LSA) based on the Perdew-Wang (PWC) setting and cyclic voltammetry.
As the development of available binder in the harsh conditions is needed, we propose the proper binder for high-voltage lithium-ion secondary batteries based on the quantum chemistry modeling. The optimized structures, HOMO (Highest Occupied Molecular Orbital) energies and ionization potentials of 4 binders, which were considered from monomer to tetramer, were investigated by the semi-empirical and DFT (Density Functional Theory) calculations. The results show that the ionization potential values by calculation tend to be close to the oxidation potentials from the measurement of linear sweep voltametry (LSV). The order of oxidative resistance from high value to low value is following: poly(hexafluropropylene), poly(vinylidene fluoride), poly(methyl acrylate) and poly(acryl amide). Also these results correspond with the experimental values. Thus, we find the reason why HOMO (Highest Occupied Molecular Orbital) energy of PHFP has the highest value than other binders by analysis of HOMO orbital structures.

In this study, we investigate the feasibility of modeling entire image strips that has been acquired from the same orbital segments. We tested sensor models based on satellite orbit and attitude with different sets(Type1 ~ Type4) of unknowns. We checked the accuracy of orbit modeling by establishing sensor models of one scene using control points extracted from the scene and by applying the models to adjacent scenes within the same orbital segments. Results indicated that modeling of individual scenes with 1st or 2nd order unknowns was recommended. We tested the accuracy of around control points, digital map using the HIST-DPW (Hanjin Information Systems & Telecommunication Digital Photogrammetric Workstation) As a result, we showed that the orbit-based sensor model is a suitable sensor model for making 1/25,000 digital map.
Using stereo images with ephemeris data from the Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite-1 electro-optical camera (KOMPSAT-1 EOC), we performed geometric modeling for three-dimensional (3-D) positioning and evaluated its accuracy. In the geometric modeling procedures, we used ephemeris data included in the image header file to calculate the orbital parameters, sensor attitudes, and satellite position. An inconsistency between the time information of the ephemeris data and that of the center of the image frame was found, which caused a significant offset in satellite position. This time inconsistency was successfully adjusted. We modeled the actual satellite positions of the left and right images using only two ground control points and then achieved 3-D positioning using the KOMPSAT-1 EOC stereo images. The results show that the positioning accuracy was about 12-17 m root mean square error (RMSE) when 6.6 m resolution EOC stereo images were used along with the ephemeris data and only two ground control points (GCPs). If more accurate ephemeris data are provided in the near future, then a more accurate 3-D positioning will also be realized using only the EOC stereo images with ephemeris data and without the need for any GCPs.
KIC6118779 is an over-contact binary system having a short orbital period of about 0.36 days. The photometric data for this system are acquired by the observations of Kepler mission in the long cadence mode having a time resolution of about 30 minutes. It means that the Kepler light curves of the system may be strongly affected by phase smearing effect and the analysis of them without consideration of the phase smearing effect may result in wrong stellar properties. Additionally, this system also shows dynamical variation of light curve resulting from spot activity. For all those reasons, it is difficult to investigate KIC6118779, and the investigation should be carried out carefully. In this presentation, we introduce the phase smearing effect and carry out the light curve modeling with the 2015 version of the Wilson-Devinney binary code considering the phase smearing effect. Our results show that the system is a deep over contact binary system and has extremely low mass ratio of about 0.12. Moreover our spot modeling implies the cyclic migration of a big cool spot on the massive component.

In this paper, we introduce a simulation tool for solar system using 3D animation tool MAYA. It accurately models solar system's astronomical features, such as each planet's orbital period, orbital speed, relative size, and texture, etc. This simulator visualize the solar system in 3D, which can be used to easily understands the system's positioning and astronomical movements. With a conventional Maya modeling process using menus and UI windows, it is difficult to assign correct physical attributes of planets. We use Python script to set up each planet's astronomical parameters. The proposed simulator is rendered as real as possible to be used for virtual reality and educational purpose.
Some of satellites such as IKONOS don't provide the orbital elements so that we can’ utilize the physical sensor model. Therefore, Rational Function Model(RFM) which is one of mathematical models could be a feasible solution. In order to improve 3D geopositioning accuracy of IKONOS stereo imagery, Rational Polynomial Coefficients(RPCs) of the RFM need to be updated with Ground Control Points(GCPs). In this paper, a method to improve RPCs of RFM using GCPs and 3D cube is proposed. Firstly, the image coordinates of GCPs are observed. And then, using offset values and scale values of RPC provided, the image coordinates and ground coordinates of 3D cube are initially determined and updated RPCs are computed by the iterative least square method. The proposed method was implemented and analyzed in several cases: different numbers of 3D cube layers and GCPs. The experimental results showed that the proposed method improved the accuracy of RPCs in great amount.
This paper presents a comprehensive analytical approach for determining key maneuver parameters associated with the acquisition and maintenance of the ground track for a low-earth orbit. A livearized model relating changes in the drift rate of the ground track directly to changes in the orbital semi-major axis is also developed. The effect of terrestrial atmospheric drag on the semi-major axis is also explored, being quantified through an analytical expression for the decay rate as a function of density. The non-singular Lagrange planetary equations, further simplified for nearly circular orbits, provide the desired relationships between the corrective in-plane impulsive velocity increments and the corresponding effects on the orbit elements. The resulting solution strategy offers excellent insight into the dynamics affecting the timing, magnitude, and frequency of these maneuvers. Simulations are executed for the ground track acquisition and maintenance maneuver as a pre-flight planning and analysis.

In the present work, we simulated and explained the bonding of three alkanethiols - hexanethiol (HT), decanethiol (DT), and 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid (MDA) - with Fe(110) surface and Fe2 clusters using Density Functional Theory (DFT) to probe the corrosion inhibition mechanisms. The interaction energies computed from periodic DFT calculations successfully predicted the experimental inhibition performance. We have found strong covalent bond formation between S(thiol) and Fe-atoms in both approaches, further confirmed by the projected density of states and electron density difference. Besides, natural bond orbital (NBO) charge distribution showed that DT had stronger electron-donation and back-donation synergic interactions with Fe-atoms.

We present a by-product of our long term photometric monitoring of cataclysmic variables. 2MASS J18024395 +4003309 = VSX J180243.9 +400331 was discovered in the field of the intermediate polar V1323 Her observed using the Korean 1-m telescope located at Mt. Lemmon, USA. An analysis of the two-color VR CCD observations of this variable covers all the phase intervals for the first time. The light curves show this object can be classified as an Algol-type variable with tidally distorted components, and an asymmetry of the maxima (the O'Connell effect). The periodogram analysis confirms the cycle numbering of Andronov et al. (2012) and for the initial approximation, the ephemeris is used as follows: Min I. BJD = 2456074.4904+0.3348837E. For phenomenological modeling, we used the trigonometric polynomial approximation of statistically optimal degree, and a recent method "NAV" ("New Algol Variable") using local specific shapes for the eclipse. Methodological aspects and estimates of the physical parameters based on analysis of phenomenological parameters are presented. As results of our phenomenological model, we obtained for the inclination $i=90^{\circ}$, $M_1=0.745M_{\odot}$, $M_2=0.854M_{\odot}$, $M=M_1+M_2=1.599M_{\odot}$, the orbital separation $a=1.65{\cdot}10^9m=2.37R_{\odot}$ and relative radii $r_1=R_1/a=0.314$ and $r_2=R_2/a=0.360$. These estimates may be used as preliminary starting values for further modeling using extended physical models based on the Wilson & Devinney (1971) code and it's extensions
