Explosive blasting is a very useful tool for mining and civil engineering applications. It, however, may cause severe environmental hazards on adjacent structures due to blasting impact. Blast engineers try to make optimum blast design to provide efficient performance and to minimize the environmental impact as well. It requires a pre-assessment of the impacts resulting from the blasting operation in design stage. One of the common procedures is to evaluate the proposed blast pattern through a series of test blasting in the field. Another approach is to evaluate the possible environmental effects using the numerical methods. There are a number of input parameters to be prepared for the numerical analysis. Some of them are well understood, while some are not. This paper presents some results of sensitivity analysis of the basic input parameters in numerical modelling of blasting problems so as to provide sound understanding of the parameters and some guidelines for input preparation.

X-cut y-propagation $LiNbO_{3}$ optical modulator is analyzed by finite element calculation. the purpose of this trial is the design of wide-bandwidth x-cut $LiNbO_{3}$ optical modulator with ridge wave guide, which was only applied to z-cut $LiNbO_{3}$ optical modulator. the simulation tool is examined by the comparison between our results and Becker's. And we consider the optimum position of optical waveguide to electrodes for decreasing the driving voltage. The calculated driving-voltage, characteristic impedance and microwave effective index at $1.3{\mu}{\textrm{m}}$ optical wavelength are 18 V.cm, $48.13{\Omega}$ and 2.168, respectively.

An aerodynamic shape optimization technique has been developed for helicopter rotor blades in hover based on a continuous adjoint method on unstructured meshes. The Euler flow solver and the continuous adjoint sensitivity analysis were formulated on the rotating frame of reference for hovering rotor blades. In order to handle the repeated evaluation of the design cycle efficiently, the flow and adjoint solvers were parallelized using a domain decomposition strategy. A solution-adaptive mesh refinement technique was adopted for the accurate capturing of the tip vortex. Applications were made for the aerodynamic shape optimization of Caradonna-Tung rotor blades and UH60 rotor blades in hover. The results showed that the present method is an effective tool to determine optimum aerodynamic shapes of rotor blades requiring less torque while maintaining the desired thrust level.

This paper presents a matrix analysis to get the torsional behavior of core structures with torsional reinforcements. Based on simplified assumptions, formulae for the forces and displacements of cote structures subjected to three typical load cases, i.e. uniformly distributed torque, triangularly distributed torque and a concentrated torque at the top of the structure, are derived analytically. The behavior of the cote according to the variation of reinforcement locations is investigated to estimate the optimum locations of reinforcements to minimize the core rotations and bimoments. The results by the program MIDAS-GEN have shown that this analysis can give quite satisfactory results for structural models with torsional reinforcements. Although three dimensional analysis by computer has come within reach as a normal structural design procedure, its use as an optimization tool may not be desirable in view of the expense and time required. Formulae that we presented here can be used to estimate the torsional rotations and forces of practical cote structures at the preliminary design stages.

The future costs of energy and the cost of the repair of apartment buildings are expected to rise continuously in proportion to the initial costs. Therefore it has become important for these increasing costs to be incorporated and reflected in the design of the building. Systems such as structure and services for the buildings remain constant, but a number of the walls and windows can vary and thus have a major influence on the total construction and running costs of a building. The critical factor in the apartment unit design for the optimization of life cycle cost (LCC) is the ratio of the x and y axis of the walls in the unit plan. This paper demonstrates how to achieve the optimal size and thus optimize the LCC of the building.

This study was performed to find the optimum ratio of ingredients in the Chinese quince jam. The experiment was designed according to the D-optimal design of mixture design, which included 14 experimental points with 4 replicates for three independent variables (Chinese quince paste $45{\sim}60%$, pectin $1.5{\sim}4.5%$, sugar $45.5{\sim}63.5%$). A mathematical analytical tool was employed for the optimization of typical ingredients. The canonical form and trace plot showed the influence of each ingredient in the mixture against final product. By use of F-test, sweetness, pH, L, b, ${\Delta}E$, and firmness were expressed by a linear model, while the spreadmeter value, a, and sensory characteristics (appearance, color, smell, taste, and overall acceptability) were by a quadratic model. The optimum formulations by numerical and graphical method were similar: Chinese quince paste 54.48%, pectin 2.45%, and sugar 53.07%. Optimum ingredient formulation is expected to improve use of Chinese quince and contribute to commercialization of high quality Chinese quince jam.
The aim of this work was to determine the method and predict the optimum conditions for egg quality stored for 7 days when combination treatments of irradiation and chitosan coating were applied using response surface methodology (RSM). A central composite design was chosen for the RSM in this study and the factors were irradiation dose (0~2 kGy) and concentration of chitosan coating material (0~2%). Performance of the irradiation and chitosan coating were evaluated by analyzing the egg quality and functional property factors. The predicted maximum level of Haugh units and foaming ability calculated by a developed model were 74.19 at 0 kGy of irradiation with coating by 0.96% chitosan solution and 50.83 mm at 2.0 kGy with 1.01%, respectively. The predicted minimum value of foam stability and 2-thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) value were 2.97 mm at 0.39 kGy with 0.21% and 0.54 mg malonaldehyde/kg egg yolk at 0 kGy with 0.90% of chitosan solution, respectively. Results clearly showed that gamma irradiation negatively affected the Haugh unit and TBARS but positively affected the foaming capacity. The estimated value from the developed model by RSM was verified by no statistical difference with observed value. Therefore, RSM can be a good tool for optimization and prediction of egg quality when 2 or more treatments are combined. However, one should decide the target quality first to achieve a successful implementation of this technology.

Temperatures of engine head and liner depend on many factors such as spray and combustion process, coolant passage flow and engine related structures. To estimate the temperature distribution of engine structure, multi-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes have been mainly adopted. In this case, it is of great importance to obtain the realistic wall temperature distribution of entire engine structure. In the present work, a CFD-FEM coupling methodology was presented to address this demand. This approach was applied to a real large-size marine diesel engine. CFD combustion and coolant flow simulations were coupled to FEM temperature analysis. Wall heat flux and wall temperature data were interfaced between combustion simulation and solid component temperature analysis via translator by a commercial CFD package named FIRE by AVL. Heat transfer coefficient and surface temperature data were exchanged and mapped between coolant flow simulation and FEM temperature analysis. Results indicate that there exists the optimum cell thickness near combustion chamber wall to reasonably predict the wall heat flux during combustion period. The present study also shows that the effect of cell refining on predicting in-cylinder pressure during combustion is negligible. Hence, the basic guidance on obtaining the wall heat flux needed for the reasonable CFD-FEM coupling analysis has been established. It is expected that this coupling methodology is a robust tool for practical engine design and can be applied to further assessment of the temperature distribution of other engine components.
The adaptive accounting control system can be regarded as an realistic control system which can adapt itself to uncertain enviromental changes. It has characters that can measure the extend to which we attain our goals and give intelligence, which is essential to planning for the future and for decision making. The budget should present the aim of the compilation of the budget and synthesize the limit through the systematic plan about the utilization of resources, because is a financial plan that is used as estimate of future management operations and as a control of it. If we would like to make good use of this business budget as a tool for planning, we should try to opimize all over the business by relating business operation as far as the effective use of the economic resources in business and the supplying of it are concerned and financial budgets to the responsibility unit center. As this paper is about the budgetary management pattern of marketing based on the adaptive accounting control system, I shall begin with a description of the feature and role of responsible accounting system in management accounting. I shall also deal with the Ex ante accounting system and the Ex post optimum accounting system which are essential to the control stage of business budgeting. And finally, accounting to the control process of adaptive accounting system that fit in with the reality, I shall design a budgetary management pattern of marking section. I wish this paper would be helpful to the activity of budgetary management. A budget is an important step of diverging point. Consequently, when we set up a budgetary pattern based on the adaptive accounting system as far as the control accounting is concerned. I believe that the step of responsible accounting will be a more elaborate and scientific step of management.

In this paper, we propose a RFID metal tag antenna with a minimum by size of a metal surface to attach. This proposed tag antenna is a patch antenna which is able to stick on metal surface and designed for very slim structure ($119{\times}30{\times}1.6$ mm) antenna that is matched to a chip impedance. This has a loop coupling feeding and consists of a inner radiator and a outer radiator. The outer radiator activates the current to concentrate on the inner radiator regardless of metal size to attach. Also the tag antenna is designed by CST microwave tool and the performance is measured in the anechoic chamber. The optimum antenna has 3.77 % of the matching bandwidth($S_{11}<-10$ dB). The readable range of the tag antenna is about 2.9 m on metal(max. size $700{\times}700$ mm) and 5.5 m in free space according to the measurement results.
