Objectives: The purpose of this study is to develop the pulse wave analysis model with the palpation pressure and the skin effect. Methods: The position of pulse diagnosis was modeled with elastic string system. The skin was modeled with the elastic string, the palpation pressure with tension in the string, and the blood vessel pressure with external force on the string. Using the wave equation in the physics, the simplified pulse model was transformed to the mathematical model. Results: To the verification of the model, the effects of the palpation pressure and the skin effect were tested. Conclusions: There was optimal palpation pressure, describing the exact vessel pressure pattern and maximizing the amplitude of the skin displacement. For the optimal condition, the increased palpation pressure was needed with the increased skin thickness. Therefore, the developed pulse wave analysis model showed the good results.

This paper is proposed one method of the exact optimal switching pattern of Selected Harmonic Elimination(SHE) Pulse Width Modulation(PWM). It defined Harmonic Elimination Band (HEB) at Constant Voltage(CV) and sought all solutions which are included HEB. Then, it calculated the Generalized Klirr Factor(GKF) beling to this solution and decided the optimal switching pattern which is minimized GKF. This optimal switching solution is used as initial condition of Newto Raphson(NR) method of decided easily switching pattern at Variable Voltage(VV). We desined the inverter by Power Transister(PTR) and implemented variable speed drive of Induction Motor(IM) in order to verify the validity of this theoretical proposition, then shown this results by comparison and analysis.

Printing technology is a very useful method in the several process of industrial fabrication due to noncontact and fast pattern generation. To make micro pattern, we investigate the electrostatic induced inkjet printer head for micro droplet generation and drop-on-demand jetting. In order to achieve the drop-on-demand micro droplet ejection by the electrostatic induced inkjet printer head, the pulsed DC voltage is supplied. In order to find optimal pulse conditions, we tested jetting performance for various bias and pulse voltages for drop-on-demand ejection. In this result, we have successful drop-on-demand operation and micro patterning. Therefore, our novel electrostatic induced inkjet head printing system will be applied industrial area comparing conventional printing technology.
In this paper, two parts of neural networks were proposed for determination of optimal EDM parameters. One is pattern recognition neural network that can be selecting expert neural network suitable to the EDM mode. The other is expert neural network that can be determining optimal EDM parameters such as pulse on time and pulse off time. Prior to determination of EDM parameters, Peak current, which is related to the EDM area closely, determined base on EDM area that is calculated from CAD data, firstly. Then, the other EDM parameters determined by the expert neural network that is selected to the EDM mode.
An electrical stimulator was designed to induce locomotion for paraplegic patients caused by central nervous system injury. Optimal stimulus parameters, which can minimize muscle fatigue and can achieve effective muscle contraction were determined in slow and fast muscles in Sprague-Dawley rats. Stimulus patterns of our stimulator were designed to simulate eleclromyographic activity monitored during locomotion of normal subjects. Muscle types of the lower extremity were classified according to their mechanical property of contraction, which are slow muscle (msoleus m.) and fast muscle (medial gastrocnemius m., rectus femoris m., vastus lateralis m.). Optimal parameters of electrical stimulation for slow muscles were 20 Hz, 0.2 ms square pulse. For fast muscle, 40 Hz, 0.3 ms square pulse was optimal to produce repeated contraction. Higher'stimulus intensity was required when synergistic muscles were stimulated simultaneously than when they were stimulated individually. Electrical stimulation for each muscle was designed to generate bipedal locomotion, so that individual muscles alternate contraction and relaxation to simulate stance and swing phases. Portable electrical stimulator with 16 channels built in microprocessor was constructed and applied to paraplegic patients due to lumbar cord injury. The electrical slimulator restored partially gait function in paraplegic patients.

This paper is proposed the Suboptimal PAWM(Pulse Amplitude Width Modulation) for minimize harmonic effects generated by switching operation of PWM Inverter. This strategy determine one switching pattern at a fixed point(fundamental) voltage u1=1.2) which THD(Total Harmonic Distortion) are minimized in the suboptimal PWM strategy, and controls only frequency in the inverter while voltage control is carried out by DC Chopper in the DC Link. This strategy is applied at VSD(Variable Speed Drive) of Three phase induction moter, and acoustic noise of motor, line to line voltage and current of inverter, current harmonic spectrum was estimated and also compared with other switching strategy. From the results, the validity of this strategy can be verified.
This paper proposes a harmonic reduction approach for a pulse width modulation (PWM) AC-AC converters using Bee Colony Optimization (BCO). The optimal switching angles are provided by BCO to minimize harmonic distortions. The sequences of the PWM switching angles are considered as a technical constraint. In this paper, simulation results from various optimization techniques including BCO, Genetic Algorithm (GA), and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) are compared. The test results indicate that BCO can provide a better solution than the others in terms of power quality and power factor improvement. Lastly, experiments on a 200W AC-AC converter confirm the performance of the proposed switching pattern in reducing harmonic distortions of the output waveform.

In recent, complex SVPWM (Space Vector PWM) algorithm can be easily implemented by high performance microprocessor and DSP. Various SVPWM techniques are widely studied due to the advantages of low harmonic distortion and high use ratio of D.C. link voltage. Most of various studies for improving of VS-PWM inverter performance are concentrated about switching pattern and zero pulse pattern split algorithms. However, dc link voltage that is determined at rated load and speed conditions is not proper in the low speed and under rated load. In this paper, analysis of current ripple with digitally implemented SVPWM inverter is introduced according to link voltage. The optimal link voltage in the designed inverter system and load condition is provided in order to suppress output voltage error and current ripple. As remaining the effective voltage vector interval per sampling period sufficiently, additional voltage error and current ripple are suppressed. The proposed algorithm is verified through digital simulation and experimental results.

The space vector control based voltage control method for a three-phase PWM rectifier requires a lot of effort to design an optimal switching pattern since a switching pattern for the switching section must be designed. In this study, a D-Q control based SPWM output voltage control algorithm was studied for the three-phase six-pulse CVS type rectifier. In the output voltage control algorithm, three-phase reference signals are obtained from the D-Q transformation based on the space vector representation method, instead of the switching pattern, SPWM method is used to generate rectifier switching control signals. Next, a three-phase six-pulse CVS PWM rectifier based on D-Q transformation and SPWM was modeled using EMTP-RV. Finally, the validity of the D-Q control-based SPWM voltage control algorithm was confirmed by comparing the output voltage waveform obtained through EMTP-RV simulation works with a reference value and confirming that the output voltage accurately follows the reference voltage.

Femtosecond laser ablation of the Invar alloy and hole drilling for a shadow mask are studied. We used a regenerative amplified Ti-sapphire laser with a 1kHz repetition rate, 184fs pulse duration and 785nm wavelength. Femtosecond laser pulse was irradiated on the Invar alloy with air blowing at the condition of various laser peak power. An ablation characteristic of the Invar alloy was appeared non-linear at $125J/cm^2$ of energy fluence. For the application to a shadow mask, the hole drilling of the Invar alloy with the cross section of a trapezoidal shape was investigated. The ablated micro-holes were characterized using an atomic force microscopy(AFM). The optimal condition of hole pattern f3r a shadow mask was $4\;{\mu}m$ z-axis feed rate, 0.2mm/s circular velocity, $26.4{\mu}J$ laser peak power. With the optimal processing condition, the fine circular hole shape without burr and thermal damage was achieved. Using the femtoseocond laser system, it demonstrates excellent tool for the Invar alloy micro-hole drilling without heat effects and poor edge.
