A continuous-time modified gain extended Kalman filter (MGEKF) is developed in an effort to extend the discrete-time results of 1) and 2). Used as an observer, it is globally exponentially convergent. For stochastic system, the stability of the MGEKF is proven under certain conditions. The performance of the MGEKF is compared with that of the EKF for a particular nonlinear system where the fininate dimensional optimal filter exists.

Objective: The reliability of size measurements of liver metastases from neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) on contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) phases made by different readers may be hampered due to transient, variable rim enhancement in arterial phase (AP) or portal venous phase (PVP) images. We aimed to assess the reliability of tumor size measurements in pre- and post-contrast scans. Materials and Methods: The study coordinator selected target lesions according to Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors 1.1 guidelines in 44 consecutive patients with pathologically confirmed NET liver metastases. Two blinded readers measured the longest diameters of target lesions on pre-contrast, AP, and PVP images twice with a 4-week interval. Inter- and intra-observer agreements were evaluated using Bland-Altman plots and 95% limit of agreement (LOA) calculations. Results: Of the 79 target lesions (approximate mean size of 3 cm), 45 showed rim enhancement. Inter-observer agreement assessed based on LOA was highest in pre-contrast CT images (-6.1-5.7 mm), followed by PVP (-7.9-7.1 mm) and AP (-8.5-7.4 mm) images. Intra-observer agreement showed the same trend: -2.8-2.9 mm and -2.9-2.9 mm for readers 1 and 2, respectively, on pre-contrast CT, -2.8-2.9 mm and -3.0-3.2 mm, respectively, on PVP, and -3.2-4.2 mm and -3.4-3.2 mm, respectively, on AP images. Mean tumor diameters differed significantly among the phases in the following increasing order: pre-contrast CT, PVP, and AP images. Conclusion: There was better inter- and intra-observer agreement in size measurements of NET liver metastases on pre-contrast scans than on AP and PVP scans. Pre-contrast CT may be the optimal for measuring NET liver metastases if its accuracy is proven.

A robust high-speed motion controller is proposed. The proposed controller consists of the proximate time optimal servomechai는 (PTOD) for high-speed motion, disturbance observer (DOB) for robustness, friction compensator, and saturation handling element, In the proposed controller, DOB basically provides the chance to apply PTOS to non-double integrator systems by drastically reducing disturbances as well as unwanted signals due to difference between real system and the double integrator model. But, in DOB-based systems, if control input is saturated due to control input PTOS and/or DOB, overall system stability cannot be guaranteed. To solve this problem, ribust stability, when the control input is saturated. Eventually, a simple saturation handling element is inserted to maintain internal stability of overall system. Also, we explain the our two saturation handling methods, Additional Saturation Element (ASE_ and Self Adjusting Saturation (SAS), are the equivalent solutions of the saturation problem to maintain internal stability. The stability and performance of the proposed controller are verified through numerical simulations and experiments using a precision linear motor system.

This paper propose a position-speed controller with an estimator which can estimate states and disturbance. The overall control system consists of two parts: the position-speed controller and an estimator. The Kalman filter applied as state-feedback controller is an optimal state estimator applied to a dynamic system that involves random perturbations and gives a linear, unbiased and minimum error variance recursive algorithm to optimally estimate the unknown state. Therefore, we consider the error problem about the servo system modeling and the measurement noise as a stochastic system and implement a optimal state observer, and enhance the estimate performance of position and speed using that. Using two-degree-of freedom(TDOF) conception, we design the command input response and the closed loop characteristics independently. The servo system is to improve the closed loop characteristics without affecting the command imput response. The characteristics of the closed loop system is improved by suppressing disturbance torque effectively with the disturbance observer using a inverse-transfer matrix. Therefore, the performance of overall position-speed controller is enhanced. Finally, the performance of the proposed controller is exemplified by some simulations and by applying the real servo system.

This paper presents a digital motion control system for Reluctance Synchronous Motor (RSM) drives with direct torque control (DTC). The system consists of stator flux observer, torque estimator: two hysteresis band controllers, an optimal switching look-up table, IGBT voltage source inverter(VSI), and TMS320C31 DSP controller by using fully integrated control software. The stator flux observer is based on the combined voltage and current model with stator flux feedback adaptive control of which inputs are current, voltage and actual rotor angle for wide speed range. In order to prove the suggested motion control algorithm, There are some simulation and testing at actual experimental system. The developed digitally high-performance motion control system are shown a good motion control response characteristic results and high performance features using 1.0Kw RSM.

This paper is concerned with the design of a robust digital controller using reduced-order observer on a robotic manipulator under the disturbance. In most cases of robotic manipulator since all state vectors are not measurable, the unmeasurable state vectors must be estimated or reconstructed. Other problems are caused by the nonlinear element like as nondifferentiable Coulomb friction, disturbance due to the gravitational pull, and the torsional spring effect of a link between the drive motor and the manipulator arm. The controller is based on feeding back the observable variables and the estimated state variables which are generated by the observer, and augmenting the system by additional discrete integrators. The feedback gain parameters are obtained by first applying the optimal control theory and then readjusting the feedback parameters to eliminate the limit cycle by using describing Function for nonlinear hybrid system.

This paper presents an implementation of digital high-performance speed sensorless control system of an induction motor drives with Direct Torque Control(DTC). The system consists of closed loop stator flux and torque observer, speed and torque estimators, two hysteresis controllers, an optimal switching look-up table, IGBT voltage source inverter, and TMS320C31 DSP controller board. The stator flux observer is based on the combined current and voltage model with stator flux feedback adaptive control for wide speed range. The speed estimator is using the model reference adaptive system(MRAS) with rotor flux linkages for speed turning signal estimation. In order to prove the suggested speed sensorless control algorithm, and to obtain a high-dynamic robust adaptive performance, we have some simulations and actual experiments at low(20rpm) and high(1000rpm) speed areas. The developed speed sensorless system are shown a good speed control response characteristic, and high performance features using 2.2[kW] general purposed induction motor.
A robust end time optimal conかof strategy for dual-stage servo system is presented. The time optimal trajectory for a mass-damper system is determined and given os a reference input to the servo system. The feedback controller is constructed so that the fine stage tracks the coarse stage errors and robustly designed as the“perturbation compensated sliding mode control(PCSMC)”law, a combination of slid-ing mode controller(SMC) and perturbation observer(PO). In addition, a null motion controller which regulates the fine stage at its neutral position is designed based on the“dynamic consistency”So, the overall dual-stage servo system exhibits the robust and time-optimal performance. The inherent merit and performance of the dual-stage system will be shown.

In this paper, an optimal variable structure controller with a multilayer neural inverse identifier is proposed. A multilayer neural network with error back propagation learning algorithm is used for construction the neural inverse identifier which is an observer of the external disturbances and the parameter variations of the system. The variable structure controller with the multilayer neural inverse identifier not only needs a small part of a priori knowledge of the bounds of external disturbances and parameter variations but also alleviates the chattering magnitude of the control input. Also, an optimal sliding line is designed by the optimal linear regulator technique and an integrator is introduced for solving the reaching phase problem. Computer simulation results show that the proposed approach gives the effective control results by reducing the chattering magnitude of control input.
A new approach for optimal decentralized load-frequency control in a multi-area interconnected power system is presented, which includes the optimal determination of decentralized load-frequency controller, observer for unmeasurable local states and load disturbances, quadratic estimator for tie-line power flow information transmitted at intervals. The optimal design of the decentralized controller is based on a modified application of the singular perturbation theory, and the decentralized Luenberger obeserver uses techniques of state augmentation for exponential disturbance functions and the representation of tie-line power flow states as non-directly-controlled inputs. The approach presented herein is numerically tested through Elgerd's two-area load-frequency system model, and the results demonstrate remarkable advantages over the conventional ones.
