  • Adaptive Maximum Torque Per Amp (Adaptive MTPA) control for induction motor drives seeks to achieve a desired torque with the minimum possible stator current regardless of operating points. This is favorable in terms of inverter operation and nearly optimal in terms of motor efficiency. However, the Adaptive MTPA control was validated only from the viewpoint of tracking a desired torque and was not shown that the desired torque is achieved with minimum possible stator current. This work experimentally demonstrates that optimal condition for Adaptive Maximum Torque Per Amp Control Strategy is achieved regardless of rotor resistance variation.

  • In this work, we propose combining an advanced optimal control algorithm with a geometrically exact beam model. For simplicity, the 2D Reissner beam model is chosen to represent large displacements and rotations. The difficulty pertains to the nonlinear nature of beam kinematics affecting the tangent stiffness matrix, making it non-constant, which compromises direct use of optimal control methods for linear problems. Thus, we seek to accommodate a time varying control using linear-quadratic regulator (LQR) algorithm with the proposed geometrically nonlinear beam model. We provide a detailed theoretical formulation and its numerical implementation in a variational format form. Several illustrative numerical examples are provided to confirm an excellent performance of the proposed methodology.

  • This paper presents an optimal control algorithm for the overhead crane. To control the swing motion and the position tracking of the payload of the overhead crane a state feedback control algorithm is applied. by using a hybrid genetic algorithm the feedback gains of the state feedback is optimized to minimize the cost function composed of position errors and payload swing angle under unknown constant disturbances. Computer simulation is performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm.

  • In this paper, an engine-CVT integrated control algorithm is suggested by considering the inertia torque and the CVT ratio change response lag in acceleration. In order to compensate for drive torque time delay due to CVT response lag, two algorithms are presented: (1) an optimal engine torque compensation algorithm, and (2) an optimal engine speed compensation algorithm. Simulation results show that the optimal engine speed compensation algorithm gives better engine operation around the optimal operation point compared to the optimal torque compensation while showing nearly the same acceleration response. The performance of the proposed engine-CVT integrated control algorithms are compared with those of conventional CVT control, and It is found that optimal engine operation can be achieved by using integrated control during acceleration, and improved fuel economy can be expected while also satisfying the driver's demands.

  • The PLL equivalent augmented system incorporated with state feedback is proposed in this paper. The optimal value of filter time constant of loop filter in the phase-locked loop control system and the optimal state feedback gain designed by using linear quadratic regulator approach are derived. This approach allows the PLL control system to employ the large value of the phase-frequency gain $K_d$ and voltage control oscillator gain $K_o$. In designing, the structure of phase-locked loop control system will be rearranged to be a phase-locked loop equivalent augmented system by including the structure of loop filter into the process and by considering the voltage control oscillator as an additional integrator. The designed controller consisting of state feedback gain matrix K and integral gain $k_1$ is an optimal controller. The integral gain $k_1$ related to weighting matrices q and R will be an optimal value for assigning the filter time constant of loop filter. The experimental results in controlling the second-order lag pressure process using two types of loop filters show that the system response is fast without steady-state error, the output disturbance effect rejection is fast and the tracking to step changes is good.

  • This paper presents a synthetic control algorithm that generates the rudder command angle to track the optimal route which is composed of straight-lines among way-points with keeping a required error limit. The control algorithm comprises three main lgorithms that is a course-keeping algorithm that eliminates the yaw angle difference between optimal route and current route a track-keeping algorithm that tracks the optimal route among way-points and a turning-control algorithm that includes the generation of optimal turning routes and control method. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm is assured through computer simulation.

  • Study in this paper concerns the optimal $H_{2}$ integral servo problems for linear crane model systems via the constraints of the derivatives of state variables added to the standard constraints. It is shown in the paper that the derivative state constrained optimal $H_{2}$ integral servo problems can be reduced to the standard optimal $H_{2}$ control problem. The main subject of the paper is to apply the results of derivative state constrained $H_{2}$ integral servo theorem in crane system. The effect of our proposed controller with respect to mitigate an under damping for crane model system is also verified.

  • This paper investigates the optimal values of turn-on and turn-off angles, and ratio of flux linkage at turn-off angle and peak phase current positions of optimal control for accomplishing maximum output power in an 8/6 Switched Reluctance Generator (8/6 SRG). Phase current waveform is analyzed to determine optimal excitation angles (optimal turn-on and turn-off angles) of the SRG for maximum output power which is applied from a nonlinear magnetization curve in terms of control variables (dc bus voltage, shaft speed, and excitation angles). The optimal excitation angles in single pulse mode of operation are proposed via the analytical model. Simulated and experimental results have verified the accuracy of the analytical model.

  • The main purpose to introduce model based controller in proposed control technique is to provide better and fast learning of the floating dynamics by means of fuzzy logic controller and also cancelling effect of nonlinear terms of the system. An iterative adaptive dynamic programming algorithm is proposed to deal with the optimal trajectory-tracking control problems for autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). The optimal tracking control problem is converted into an optimal regulation problem by system transformation. Then the optimal regulation problem is solved by the policy iteration adaptive dynamic programming algorithm. Finally, simulation example is given to show the performance of the iterative adaptive dynamic programming algorithm.

  • A robust end time optimal conかof strategy for dual-stage servo system is presented. The time optimal trajectory for a mass-damper system is determined and given os a reference input to the servo system. The feedback controller is constructed so that the fine stage tracks the coarse stage errors and robustly designed as the“perturbation compensated sliding mode control(PCSMC)”law, a combination of slid-ing mode controller(SMC) and perturbation observer(PO). In addition, a null motion controller which regulates the fine stage at its neutral position is designed based on the“dynamic consistency”So, the overall dual-stage servo system exhibits the robust and time-optimal performance. The inherent merit and performance of the dual-stage system will be shown.
