LASER-PRODUED PLASMA AS AN X-RAY SOURCE

  • The interaction of high-intensity, focused, nanosecond laser light with matter results in the production of high-temperature plasma, which in turn emits an intense pulse of x rays. The x-ray spectrum consists of strong line components of several keV photon energy and broad continuum. Such an x-ray source provides many advantages over conventional ones for many applications. Pulse nature of the x-ray emission is well-suited for studying transient phenomena and for imaging living biological specimen. Recent experiments have also shown that the laser plasma x ray may be used for x ray lithography. These studies and other applications will be discussed in detail.

  • We derive the point-spread function of the reconstructed image from a point-source complex hologram, which includes phase error caused by polarization components, in the longitudinal direction of the point-spread function and analyze the effect of the error sources of polarization components having influence on image reconstruction of a point-source complex hologram in incoherent triangular holography.

  • MZI 하나를 이용하여 한 단을 구성한 CWDM 설계에서는 출력 특성이 sine wave 의 제곱 특성을 가지므로 각 채널당 통과 대역이 좁다. 이러한 특성은 WDM System 에서 Laser Source 의 온도 변화에 의한 파장 변화에 대해 좋은 특성을 보이지 못함을 의미한다. 따라서 Laser Source 의 파장 변화에 좋은 특성을 갖는 넓은 통과대역을 갖을 필요가 있다. 본 연구 그룹은 MZI 2개와 3개를 이용하여 평평한 출력 특성을 갖는 4 채널 CWDM 광 도파로 소자의 설계와 해석을 발표한바 있다.   • When an electric (or a magnetic) line source is located near the surface, surface wave type field is generated and the energy associated with this field is guided very close to the impedance surface. In this paper, field strength is calculated by the exact modal and ray methods for a line source excited parallel plate waveguide. The surface wave contribution to the modal and ray solutions is anticipated very strong and must be included in both solutions.

  • This study presents the specific rule governing the image configurations of an extended source for micro lensing of the two body gravitational lens system developed by Chang and Refsdal (1979). Various topological situations of a source are considered in relation to the regions bounded by the so-called critical curves.
