  • Slim floor construction is becoming used throughout many countries. It combines the advantages of flat slab construction with significant inherent resistance to fire. The slim floor system with web openings leads to the reduction of its self-weight. Although the system has enough strength and stiffness, it is necessary to evaluate and improve the effects of dynamic vibration to be able to annoy the residents. Thus, this study evaluates the serviceability of vibration effects based on the dynamic test of five slim composite beams. Based on the experimental results, the initial stiffness and natural frequency of all specimens exhibit the similar trend regardless of the opening and the shape of cross section. The decrease in natural frequency is deeply related to the reduction in the stiffness of specimens and thus, it can be concluded that the damage of slim composite floor can be detected by the measurement of natural frequency instead of the load-carrying capacity and the stiffness.

  • The Safety depressurization System(SDS) of KNGR prevents RCS from overpressurization by discharging high pressure and temperature coolant through the I-sparger into the IRWST during an accident. If IRWST water temperature rise locally, around the sparger, beyond $200_{\circ}$2000 F by the discharged coolant, unstable steam condensation can cause large pressure load on the IRWST wall. To investigate whether this condition can be avoided for the design basis event IOPOSRV(Inadvertent Opening of one Pilot Operated Safety Relief Valve), the flow and temperature distribution of water in the IRWST is calculated by using CFX 4.3 computational fluid dynamic code. According to the results, since pool water temperature does not exceeds temperature limit within 50 seconds after the opening of one POSRV, it can be assured that the integrity of IRWST wall is maintained.

  • Based on an experimental study, this study provides an equation to describe the shear strength of high-strength concrete deep beams with rectangular openings and without web reinforcements. Twenty-four concrete deep beams were tested with the variables of concrete strength, size of web opening, and shear span-to-depth ratio. The proposed equation is expressed as the sum of the shear strength provided by longitudinal bars and concrete. It is illustrated that the proposed equation predicts the load-carrying capacity of the deep beams more properly than the experimental equations proposed by other researchers.

  • Generally, Web & Flange of I shape beam are composed of plane for optimization of measurement in investigating the behavior resistant to horizontal force and bending moment on large section Therefore, longitudinally traperzoidal web section beam has an important function as a body for carrying more load and ensuring more support area. There is only a limited usefulness for analyzing the behavior of web section with opening. It is experimentally verified that this traperzoidal web section has a good resistant caopacity. conclustions on the above research results are as follows : 1) resistant capacity on the above can be more 15% increased than normal case 2) stiffener welding work and complexity of shopdrawing can be excluded in advance 3) traperzoidal section can be applied in structural practice.

  • The constraint effect $A_2$ has to be evaluated within plastic region near crack tip front using opening displacement. Plastic boundary and stress or strain conditions in the vicinity of the crack tip using recrystallization heat treatment was represented. It was found that the plastic deformation boundary by recrystallization heat treatment method was the true strain of ${\epsilon}t$ = 0.05mm/mm. With the estimation of constraint effects $A_2$, the region of proper displacement measurement point near crack tip was between 0mm and 1mm distance toward direction of crack propagation, and was between 1mm to 3mm distance toward direction of load line.

  • This effective way for repairing a fatigue crack is making indetations around fatigue crack tip. In this paper, we performed fatigue test to investigate the optimal position of the indentations, and observed crack opening behavior at the same time. The indentation positions of specimens were on the crack tip, front and back of the crack tip. The results of the experiment showed taht it was veryeffective way to increase fatigue life that making indentations on the crack tip, and it was the optimal position that making indentations on the crack tip.

  • The dynamic crack growth in ductile steel is investigated by means of the impact loaded 3 point bending (3PB) specimens. Results from experiments and numerical simulations are compared to each other. A modified 3PB specimen designed with the reduced width at its ends has been developed in order to avoid the initial compressive loading of the crack tip and also to avoid the uncertain boundary conditions at the impact heads. Numerical simulations of the experiments are made by using a finite element method (FEM) code, ABAQUS. The high speed photography is used to obtain the crack growth and the data of the crack tip opening displacement (CTOD). The direct measurements of the relative rotations of two specimen halves are made by using the Moire interference pattern.

  • The Kaplan turbine model has been tested and analized. The blade angle and the guide vane opening of the turbine model were designed to be varied according to the best combination of guide vane and runner blade opening. When the changes in head and output were comparatively large, the efficiency drop were small, so the efficiency characteristics and stability of the entire operating condition were maintained in good condition. These results showed that the developed model in this study will be suitable for small hydro power stations with large changes in head and load.

  • This paper discussed finite element method(FEM) models of the reinforced concrete rectangular shear walls with opening configuration and analysed under constant axial and monotonic lateral load using ABAQUS. The research comprises constitutive models to represent behavior of the materials that compose a wall on the basis of experimental data, development of techniques that are appropriate for analysis of reinforced concrete structures, verification, and calibration of the global model for reinforced concrete shear walls of increasing complexity. Results from the analyses of these FEM models offers significant insight into the flexural behavior of benchmark data.
