  • We have prepared n-CdS/p-InP hetero- junction solar cells by thermal evaporation. The efficiency under the optium conditions without the grid line contact was 7.3%, and the solar cell having glid line contact with SiO AR coating was the open circuit voltage of 0.71V, the short circuit voltage current density of 15mA/cm$^2$, the fill factor of 0.73, and the efficiency of 11.5%. As result of photoresponse in 400-1000nm wavelength the cutoff of n-CdS/p-InP solar at 500nm results from absorption by the CdS \"window\" and the cutoff at 930 nm result from absorption by the InP.

  • We report a study of Zn(S)Se/GaAs heterojunction solar cells grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). Zn(S)Se/GaAs heterostructures prepared under different conditions were characterized in-situ by reflection high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED). Structural and electrical properties were investigated with double crystal X-ray diffraction and current-voltage characteristics, respectively. The fabricated $n-ZnS_{0.07}Se_{0.93}/p-GaAs$ solar cell (SC #2) exhibited open circuit voltage($V_{oc}$) of 0.37 V, short circuit current($I_{sc}$) of $1.7{\times}10^{-2}$ mA, fill factor of 0.62 and conversion efficiency of 7.8 % under 38.5 $mW/cm^2$ illumination.

박막 히터형 유량센서의 온도보상 (Temperature Compensation of Hot-film Flow Sensor)

  • 본 논문은 박막 히터형 유량센서의 온도보상을 위해 초기 불평형 전압을 이용한 새로운 온도보상 방법을 사용하였다. 온도보상을 위해서 본 논문에서는 휘스튼 브릿지의 비를 다르게 하는 방법으로 오픈루프에서 초기 불평형 전압을 온도에 따라 나타낸 그래프를 이용하여 센서 회로의 저항값을 구하는 방법을 사용하였다. 공기 온도가 $-20^{\circ}C{\sim}120^{\circ}C$ 범위에서 온도 보상을 실시한 결과 ${\pm}1%$이내의 온도 오차가 발생하여, 정밀한 박막 히터형 유량 센서를 제작할 수 있었다.

에너지 준위 접합 최적화를 통한 유기태양전지 효율 향상법 (Optimization of energy level alignment for efficient organic photovoltaics)

  • Organic photovoltaics (OPVs) have attracted significant interest in an interdisciplinary research field for the decades as a next-generation photovoltaic device due to their unique advantages. One of requirements for OPVs having high power conversion efficiency is the favorable energy level alignment between the electrode/organic and organic/organic interfaces to manage the exciton dissociation and improve the charge transport. In this review, strategies to enhance the OPV performance by controlling the energy level alignment are discussed. The insertion of an exciton blocking layer leads to the efficient dissociation of photogenerated excitons at the donor/acceptor interface enhancing the short-circuit current density. The choice of a donor having a high ionization energy and an acceptor having a low electron affinity increases the open-circuit voltage. The insertion of an appropriate work function modifier which reduces the charge injection barrier removes the S-kink in current density-voltage characteristics of OPVs and improves the fill factor. This review would give a valuable guide to design the efficient OPV structure.

  • Recently, Molten carbonate fuel cells(MCFCs) have been developing to get a good durability and economic feasibility for commercialization. To achieve these objectives, the cost of nickel based electrodes should be reduced. Regular anode thickness used in MCFCs is normally 0.7mm. Thus, in our study, the purpose was to reduce anode thickness up to 0.3 mm keeping MCFC performance on standard levels. In-situ sintering has been used, with 2 different fabrication methods (method A and B) and 2 different supports (support 1 and 2). Voltage losses at different temperature (600,620,640,$650^{\circ}C$) and after 1000 hours showed the higher performance that can be obtained using method B and support 2. After single cell test, an open-circuit voltage(OCV) of 1.075 V and a closed-circuit voltage(CCV) of 0.829V were obtained, at current density of $150mV/cm^2$. Also the voltage loss ratio at different cell temperature was lower in the case of method B and support 2. According to these results, the cost of anode fabrication can be reduced in the future, contributing for the economical feasibility of MCFCs.

  • In this paper, we study the electric characteristics of shading effects in photovoltaic module in case of outdoor operation. When fabricating PV module, solar cells are connected serially to obtain the high voltage because of its low open circuit voltage. And total current is determined by lowest current among solar cells. When the shading happens on PV module's surface, the current of shaded solar cell determine the total current flow. Because of this, generally by-pass diode is installed on junction box. The bypass diode operate when revered and shaded solar cell's voltage is over 0.6 voltage. The reverse-biased solar cell gives reduced maximum power of PV module and might give negative effect on durability. So, adequate by-pass installation and selection is needed.

  • 엔진과 전기추진장치를 혼합한 하이브리드 추진 장치를 구동하기 위해서는 셀 단위로 이루어진 수십 개의 리튬계열의 배터리가 들어 있는 팩들로 접속이 된 전원을 사용한다. 따라서 많은 량의 배터리 셀의 상태를 언제든지, 엄격하게 관리할 필요가 있다. 일반적으로 배터리 관리(Battery management system, BMS)는 셀 전압, 전류 및 온도 등의 데이터를 운전 중에 받아서 상태를 컴퓨터로 모니터링 한다. 배터리의 상태를 확인하기 위한 또 다른 중요한 데이터는 배터리의 잔존수명(State of charge, SOH)을 알 수 있는 내부저항과 충전상태(State of charge, SOC)를 알 수 있는 무 부하 단자전압(Open circuit voltage, OCV)이 있다. 그러나 연속운전 중에는 내부 손실저항과 캐패시턴스의 병렬 등가회로로 인하여 내부저항의 측정이 어렵다. 또한 대부분의 에너지저장시스템에는 전압, 전류, 온도 등의 데이터를 이용하여 BMS가 수행되고 있지만, 운전 중에 예기치 않게 배터리 셀의 고장이 발생하는 경우에는 구동 전원장치의 출력전압이 변동하고, 하이브리드 자동차 또는 선박의 추진이 어려울 수가 있다. 본 논문에서는 리튬인산철 배터리 팩을 이용한 하이브리드 선박용 직류전원장치를 대상으로 배터리 셀의 돌발고장 순간에도 직류전원장치의 일정전압을 유지하면서 내부저항의 추정이 가능하고, 정상운전 중에는 OCV의 추정이 가능한 고 안전 BMS를 구현하고자 한다.

온칩 다이오드를 이용한 빛에너지 하베스팅 회로 설계 (Design of a Photo Energy Harvesting Circuit Using On-chip Diodes)

  • 본 논문에서는 CMOS 공정의 p-diff/n-well 다이오드만을 사용한 ISC(Integrated Solar Cell)를 이용하여 MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) 제어 기능을 갖는 온칩 빛에너지 하베스팅 시스템을 제안하였다. MPPT 제어는 PV(Photovoltaic) 셀의 개방전압과 MPP(Maximum Power Point) 전압간의 비례관계를 이용하여, 작은 pilot PV 셀로 하여금 main PV 셀의 MPP를 실시간 추적할 수 있도록 설계하였다. 모의실험 결과 설계된 회로는 MPPT 제어기능을 적용했을 때 부하가 큰 경우에도 MPP 근처의 전압을 부하에 공급함으로써 부하에 연결된 회로가 정상적으로 동작하는 것을 확인하였다. 제안된 회로는 0.18um CMOS 공정으로 설계하였으며, main PV 셀과 pilot PV 셀의 면적은 각각 $8mm^2$$0.4mm^2$이다.

전력용변압기 단선 보호용 NGR 성능 개선 (The Improvement of NGR for Power Transformer Open Circuit Protection)

  • As the electric system is getting larger to meet the increasing demand for electric power, the rating of power apparatus is becoming inevitably higher in its working voltage and larger in its capacity. According to KEPCO reports, power transformers in the KEPCO system have undergone troubles such as winding short insulation breakdowns every year since 1981. the cause of this troubles were high one line grounding fault currents in KEPCO systems that had direct grounding systems. KEPCO has installed the NGR(neutral grounding reactor) to lower this fault current and reduced winding short insulation breakdowns in power transformers. But when a circuit breaker opened a no load bus, some trips of circuit breakers for protecting transformer have occurred by mal-operation of 59GT(overvoltage ground relay) that detect disconnection of NGR. Therefore, in this paper, we analyzed the cause and examined the effect of time delav circuit to prevent wrong operation of 59GT.

  • According to 2014 fire statistical yearbook in the National Fire Data System, a main cause of fire is electrical fire except carelessness fire. Joint/contact badness is the one of the main cause of electrical fire. Furthermore, power relays which are used in electric panel board, motor control center and automation controller, are main element of automation system in the industry field. Overload, voltage unbalance and open-phase due to joint/contact badness of terminal make electric accidents or electrical fires. In order to prevent joint/contact badness of terminal, this paper proposes a sensing circuit of chattering, tracking, arc current, voltage unbalance and open-phase etc. Some experimental tests of the proposed apparatus confirm practicality and validity of the theoretical results.
