Reconsideration of Research Framework for RRM in the Perspective of Linked Open Data (차세대 학술연구 데이터 공유 활성화를 위한 연구기록의 구조적 요건에 대한 연구)

  • The cognition of Research Record Management (RRM) scholars about research framework is important as a pre-condition for future Linked Open Data (LOD). Researchers will be directly engaged to the research data-process with Cloud Computing Data-Infra, which is considered as a Nation-wide R&D Data Projects. The purpose of this paper is to diagnose researcher's cognition of research framework and to provide some guidance of finding a new meaning of the structural requirements of resarch record.

  • Construction of multi-site Cloud Infrastructure with OpenStack, the most popular cloud open source project with various ICT infrastructure technologies, has operational inefficiency due to installation complexity and geographical limitation. To address this inefficiency, we gradually developed automated installation/configuration tools to automate installation/configuration of Linux and OpenStack by complying with DevOps methodology over a multi-site OpenStack testbed called OF@KOREN SmartX Playground. However, the pre-developed installation tools can be used only for limited cases. Therefore, we designed and developed a prototype of SmartX Provisioning Framework which could conducts Playground-wide provisioning flexibly by following three steps of resource management in Software-defined Infrastructure. We verified the efficiency of the provisioning functionality of the framework by demonstrating an example of automated multi-site cloud construction.

A Socio-Technical Model for Open Government Data Research

  • National and local governments around the world have been allowing access to administrative data to increase transparency, motivate civic engagement of citizens, and improve collaboration between the public and the government. This study reviews and classifies existing literature on open government data (OGD). To create a structure to organize the existing studies, the researchers devised a framework based on socio-technical theory and summarized the significance of studies along four major points: (1) readiness, (2) implementation, (3) emerging effects, and (4) actors of open data. Studies in OGD have been growing steadily in the recent years because of the rapid development of adoptable technologies that have enabled easier access to government data. Nonetheless, an examination of existing research not only shows a disparity in research and development of OGD across countries in the Open Government partnership program but also reveals pertinent issues that have arisen in different stages of the OGD initiative. The growing number of studies and expanding body of knowledge show the importance of organizing existing literature. This step is timely and significant to map out the current breadth and depth of OGD research. According to existing research, current open governments fall short in encouraging citizen participation and collaborations among citizens and the government. This study pointed out how studies on OGD actors might be the reason as well as the solution to existing findings. This paper aims to provide a framework for organizing OGD studies, present the status of OGD research, and provide recommendations on current gaps that must be addressed.

Open API Software Framework for Information Processing of RCS-e Presence Feature (RCS-e 프레즌스 정보 처리를 위한 오픈 API 소프트웨어 프레임워크)

  • Web developers have had difficulties in using Rich Communication Service-e(RCS-e) on their applications because of complicated protocols and closed interfaces. In order to vitalize the use of RCS-e, we need a RCS Application Program Interface(API) which has simple protocols and can be accessed easily. This paper presents the web-based Open API Framework for the RCS-e presence feature. A system architecture for the framework is defined. Call flows for the presence feature between the framework and other nodes are defined. Also, one of the call flows is illustrated to explain how to convert web-based requests to RCS-e requests. Finally, performance evaluation proves that the framework does not add any loads to the existing network infrastructure.

Parallel LDPC Decoding on a Heterogeneous Platform using OpenCL

  • Modern mobile devices are equipped with various accelerated processing units to handle computationally intensive applications; therefore, Open Computing Language (OpenCL) has been proposed to fully take advantage of the computational power in heterogeneous systems. This article introduces a parallel software decoder of Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes on an embedded heterogeneous platform using an OpenCL framework. The LDPC code is one of the most popular and strongest error correcting codes for mobile communication systems. Each step of LDPC decoding has different parallelization characteristics. In the proposed LDPC decoder, steps suitable for task-level parallelization are executed on the multi-core central processing unit (CPU), and steps suitable for data-level parallelization are processed by the graphics processing unit (GPU). To improve the performance of OpenCL kernels for LDPC decoding operations, explicit thread scheduling, vectorization, and effective data transfer techniques are applied. The proposed LDPC decoder achieves high performance and high power efficiency by using heterogeneous multi-core processors on a unified computing framework.

  • Advanced countries including OECD member countries focus on the Open Innovation strategy to strengthen their national science and technology innovation capability and to promote the utilization of its outcome. Numerous relevant researches are proceeded in these days, however, just few researches exist in the defense science and technology innovation fields. Therefore, the paper tries to apply Open Innovation concept to the national defense science and technology fields based on the change of defense environments and its problems. For this reason, the paper also presents the theoretical framework of defense Open Innovation and future directions for the purpose of strengthening the national defense science and technology innovation capability and expanding its outcomes.

  • Recently, as technology for obtaining locational awareness and wireless telecommunications improve, technologies and services involving Telematics has grown rapidly. However, the services are currently available on certain terminals selected by the telematics service provider (TSP). This means in order to access services provided by other TSPs, it is necessary to purchase related terminals. To solve this problem, it is essential to achieve service interoperability between TSPs, or between TSPs and the contents provider (CP). Under this backdrop, the aim of this paper is to design and implement a telematics service framework for openning services in a heterogeneous network environment. Futhermore, the paper presents open telematics protocols required for communication in the telematics service framework, and develop technologies to deal with this in different network environments.

Accuracy of a proposed implant impression technique using abutments and metal framework

  • PURPOSE. This study compared the accuracy of an abutment-framework (A-F) taken with open tray impression technique combining cement-on crown abutments, a metal framework and resin cement to closed tray and resin-splinted open tray impression techniques for the 3-implant definitive casts. The effect of angulation on the accuracy of these 3 techniques was also evaluated. MATERIAL AND METHODS. Three definitive casts, each with 3 linearly positioned implant analogs at relative angulations 0, 30, and 40 degrees, were fabricated with passively fitted corresponding reference frameworks. Ten impressions were made and poured, using each of the 3 techniques on each of the 3 definitive casts. To record the vertical gap between reference frameworks and analogs in duplicate casts, a light microscope with image processing was used. Data were analyzed by two-way analysis of variance and the Tukey test. RESULTS. The open tray techniques showed significantly smaller vertical gaps compare to closed tray technique (P < .05). The closed tray and the resin-splinted open tray technique showed significantly different vertical gaps according to the angulation of implant (P < .05), but the A-F impression technique did not (P > .05). CONCLUSION. The accuracy of the A-F impression technique was superior to that of conventional techniques, and was not affected by the angulation of the implants.

WPS-based Satellite Image Processing onWeb Framework and Cloud Computing Environment (클라우드 컴퓨팅과 웹 프레임워크 환경에서 WPS 기반 위성영상 정보처리)

  • Till now, applications of many kinds of satellite images have been accentuated in the datacentric scientific studies, researches regarding system development and concerned technologies for them are on the un-matured stage. Especially, satellite image processing requires large volume data handling and specific analysis functionalities, so that practical necessity of base study for system development is emphasized on. In the view of information system, various edged trends such as web standards, cloud computing, or web framework are utilized owing to their application benefits proven and business needs. Considered these aspects, a testing implementation was carried out using OpenStack cloud computing environment and e-government framework. As for the processing functions, WPS in GeoServer, as one of OGC web standards, was applied to perform interoperable data processing scheme between two or more remote servers. Working with the server implemented, client-side was also developed using several open sources such as HTML 5, jQuery, and OpenLayers. If it is that completed further experiments onsite applications with actual multi-data sets and extension of on-demand functionalities with the result of this study, it will be referred as an example case model for complicated and complex system design and implementation which needs cloud computing, geo-spatial web standards and web framework.
