In this study, we solve an online multi-object problem which finds object states (i.e. locations and sizes) while conserving their identifications in online-provided images and detections. We handle this problem based on a tracking-by-detection approach by linking (or associating) detections between frames. For more accurate online association, we propose novel online appearance learning with discrete fourier transform and partial least square analysis (PLS). We first transform each object image into a Fourier image in order to extract meaningful features on a frequency domain. We then learn PLS subspaces which can discriminate frequency features of different objects. In addition, we incorporate the proposed appearance learning into the recent confidence-based association method, and extensively compare our methods with the state-of-the-art methods on MOT benchmark challenge datasets.

Thanks to web development today, we can easily access online news via various media. As much as it is easy to access online news, we often face fake news pretending to be true. As fake news items have become a global problem, fact-checking services are provided domestically, too. However, these are based on expert-based manual detection, and research to provide technologies that automate the detection of fake news is being actively conducted. As for the existing research, detection is made available based on contextual characteristics of an article and the comparison of a title and the main article. However, there is a limit to such an attempt making detection difficult when manipulation precision has become high. Therefore, this study suggests using a verifying article to decide whether a news item is genuine or not to be affected by article manipulation. Also, to improve the precision of fake news detection, the study added a process to summarize a subject article and a verifying article through the summarization model. In order to verify the suggested algorithm, this study conducted verification for summarization method of documents, verification for search method of verification articles, and verification for the precision of fake news detection in the finally suggested algorithm. The algorithm suggested in this study can be helpful to identify the truth of an article before it is applied to media sources and made available online via various media sources.
An important issue in the field of face recognitions and man-machine interfaces is an automatic detection of faces in visual scenes. it should be computationally fast enough to allow an online detection. In this paper we describe our ongoing work on face detection that models the face appearance by edge orientation and color distribution. We show that edge orientation is a powerful feature to describe objects like faces. We present a method for face region detection using edge orientation and a method for face feature detection using local color information. We demonstrate the capability of our detection method on an image database of 1877 images taken from more than 700 people. The variations in head size, lighting and background are considerable, and all images are taken using low-end cameras. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme achieves 94% detection rate with a resonable amount of computation time.
Outlier detection techniques play an important role in enhancing the reliability of data communication in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Considering the importance of outlier detection in WSNs, many outlier detection techniques have been proposed. Unfortunately, most of these techniques still have some potential limitations, that is, (a) high rate of false positives, (b) high time complexity, and (c) failure to detect outliers online. Moreover, these approaches mainly focus on either temporal outliers or spatial outliers. Therefore, this paper aims to introduce novel algorithms that successfully detect both temporal outliers and spatial outliers. Our contributions are twofold: (i) modifying the Hampel Identifier (HI) algorithm to achieve high accuracy identification rate in temporal outlier detection, (ii) combining the Gaussian process (GP) model and graph-based outlier detection technique to improve the performance of the algorithm in spatial outlier detection. The results demonstrate that our techniques outperform the state-of-the-art methods in terms of accuracy and work well with various data types.

Recently, online-game industry has been rapidly expanding in these days. But, the various game service victimized cases are generated by the bots program. Particularly, the abnormal collection of the game money and item loses the inherent fun of a game. It reaches ultimately the definite bad effect to the game life cycle. In this paper, we propose a Bots detection method by observing the playing patterns of game characters with game log data. It analyzed behaviors of human players as well as bots and identified features to build the model to differentiate bots from human players. In an experiment, by using the served online-game, the model of a user and bots were generated was distinguished. And the reasonable result was confirmed.

In the combustion engineering, to decrease pollution and increase production efficiency, and to optimally keep solid burning material amount constant in a burner online, it needs a smart method to detect the amount variation of the burning materials in a high temperature environment. This paper presents an online machine vision system for automatically measuring and detecting the burning material amount inside a burner or a boiler. In the camera-protecting box of the system, a sub-system for cooling is constructed by using the cooling water circulation techqique. In addition, the key and intelligent step in the system is to detect the pile profile of the variable burning material, and the algorithm for the pile profile tracing was studied based on the combination of the gey level (color) discontinuity and similarity based image segmentation methods, the discontinuity based sub-algorithm is made on the quaternion convolution, and the similarity based sub-algorithm is designed according to the region growing with multi-scale clustering. The results of the two sub-algoritms are fused to delineate the final pile profile, and the algorithm has been tested and applied in different industrial burners and boilers. The experiements show that the proposed algorithm works satisfactorily.

This paper presents stochastic methodology based fault detection algorithm for induction motor systems. We measure current of healthy induction motors by means of hall sensor systems and then establish its probability distribution. We propose online probability density estimation which is effective in real-time implementation due to its simplicity and low computational burden. In addition, we accomplish theoretical analysis to demonstrate convergence property of the proposed estimation by using statistical convergence and system stability theory. We apply our fault diagnosis approach to three-phase induction motors and achieve real-time experiment for evaluating its reliability and practicability in industrial fields.
Blind speech separation (BSS) is well-known as a powerful technique for speech enhancement in many real world environments. In this paper, we propose a new application of BSS - acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) in a car environment. For this purpose, we develop a block-online BSS algorithm which provides robust separation than a batch version in changing environments with moving speakers. Simulation results using real world recordings show that the block-online BSS algorithm is very robust to speaker movement. When combined with AEC, simulation results using real audio recording in a car confirm the expectation that BSS improves double talk detection and echo suppression.

A natural way to cope with fault tolerant control (FTC) problems is to modify the control parameters according to an online identification of the system parameters when a fault occurs. However. due to not only difficulties Inherent to the online multivariable identification in closed-loop systems, such as modeling errors, noise or the lack of excitation signals, but also long time requirement to identify the post-fault system and implemeutation of control problems during the identification process, we propose an alternative approach based on the observer-based fault detection and isolation (FDI) and model reference adaptive control (MRAC). The proposed robust fault diagnosis method is based on a bank of observers. We also propose a model reference adaptive control with changeable reference models according to the occurred faults. Simulation results of a flight control example show the validity and applicability of the proposed algorithms.
