Analysis of Factors of Success on Online VOD Contents (온라인 VOD 영상콘텐츠 흥행요인 분석)

  • As the result of correlation, the viewing rate of terrestrial broadcasting programs has a little bit affect on online VOD use. In addition, WOM(word of mouth) and online referral importantly influences to the picking with online VOD drama. The great popularity of main actors on drama affect a little bit the viewing of VOD drama but doesn't perfectly affect on it. However, the drama which is performed by great popular actors has positive affect on VOD use. This study result shows that the using of video depends on the effect of WOM, referral and commercial. The casting of a great popular actors plays role of the safeguard which affects viewing rate and add-value. That means the casting of a great popular actors doesn't connect with the success of release but the tool of defense from loss of profit.

  • This study developed a model for predicting the number of VOD uses of IPTV, an online market in the film industry. A machine learning-based prediction model was established using the VOD usage data collected by the Korean Film Council from 2017 to 2021. Through literature research and cluster analysis, the difference between the offline market and the online market is revealed, and a new category of VOD usage is proposed. The purpose is to help IPTV companies establish marketing strategies as well as support decision-making by developing a machine learning-based VOD usage prediction model.

Demand Concentration in the Korean Digital Online Movie Market (디지털 온라인 영화시장의 수요 집중화 경향)

  • With technological development including digitization, movie demand and supply in digital online movie market are increasing. This study aims to explore demand concentration of the digital online movie market, which is characterized by product variety compared to cinemas. Major findings of the empirical analysis on the TV VOD data during the recent seven years(2013 ~ 2019) are as follows. First, the analysis on 1,137 titles reveals that movie demand of theatrical market is more concentrated than that of TV VOD. Second, absolute long tail index of TV VOD, measured by the download number of indie & artistic movies(niche product), is increasing as more such movies are released in the market. However, both relative long tail index, measured by the share of indie & artistic movie demand, and top-ranked movies' share do not show consistent increase or decrease trend. Third, regression analysis exhibits that the relationship between demand concentration and market size is insignificant for TV VOD market. This study might have usefulness in that it provides empirical evidence for the nature of the Korean digital online movie market.

A Survey Study on Online Learning Quality Satisfaction in Dental Hygiene Students (치위생(학)과 학생의 온라인 수업 질에 대한 만족도 조사 연구)

  • This study was aimed to grasp online learning quality satisfaction in Dental Hygiene students. A survey was conducted targeting finally 228 dental hygiene students at a university in Gangwon Province from February 3, 2021 to February 17. As a result of analysis, the online class satisfaction by good instruction component was lower overall than importance. The learning environment satisfaction was lower than its importance. A difference between importance and satisfaction with online learning by detailed good instruction component showed a relatively big difference in systematic class, online learning environment, ability to convey the class contents. The need for online learning content was high in teaching material and VOD. The class operation type satisfaction was high in a non-real time class. Accordingly, a continuous effort is conceivably necessary for improving quality given the teaching-design establishment of online learning.

  • Video on demand (VOD) platforms provide immersive, inspiring, and commercial-free binge watching experiences. Recently, the number of these platform users increased dramatically as users can enjoy various contents without physical and time constraints during COVID-19. However, such platforms do not provide sufficient video censorship services while there is a strong need. In this study, we investigated the users' desire for video censorship when choosing and watching movies on VOD platforms, and how video censorship can be applied to different types of scenes to increase the censoring effect without diminishing the enjoyment. We first conducted an online survey with 98 respondents to identify the types of discomfort while watching sexual, violent, or drug-related scenes. We then conducted an in-depth online interview with 18 participants to identify the effective video filtering types and regions for each of the three scenes. Based on the findings, we suggest implications for designing a censor application for videos that contain uncomfortable scenes.

  • 본 논문에서는 클러스터 VOD 시스템인 VODCA에 특산품 온라인 쇼핑 시스템을 설계 및 구현한다. VODCA 서버와 클라이언트의 구조 및 특징에 대해 살펴보고, 온라인 쇼핑 시스템의 구조 및 특징에 대해 소개한다. 온라인 쇼핑 시스템은 VODCA 서버의 광고 관리 모듈에 의해 온라인 쇼핑 사이트를 위한 웹서버와 DBMS의 광고 정보를 클라이언트로 전송한다. VODCA 클라이언트의 광고 출력 모듈은 서버로부터 전송받은 광고 정보를 사용자에게 보여준다. 또한 상품 구매 요구를 처리하기 위하여 메뉴 드라이브 방식의 입력 모듈을 구현하였다.

Determinants of the Users' Intention to Retain the Monthly Movie Subscription VOD in the Pay-TV:A Dual Model of Dedication-Based and Constraint-Based Mechanisms (유료방송 영화 VOD 월정액 서비스 이용자의 가입유지의도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구: 자의기반과 구속기반 메커니즘의 이원적 모형을 중심으로)

  • This study investigates the factors influencing to users' intention to retain monthly movie subscription VOD service in the Pay-TV. A dual model of a dedication-based mechanism and constraint-based mechanism used as the analytical framework for the service subscription retention. This study surveyed the total of 366 respondents who aged 15 years or older among the subscribers who use monthly movie subscription VOD service in Pay-TV from May 8 to May 14, 2018 through online surveys. And the study used SPSS 25 and AMOS 21 for data analysis. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, the price, the contents diversity and the ease of use were found to affect the user satisfaction. From three components, the price is the most effective and the ease of use is the next. Second, user satisfaction were found to affect the intention to retain a subscription in the dedication-based mechanism. Third, procedural switching cost were found to affect the intention to retain a subscription in the constraint-base mechanism.

Satisfaction Survey on Video Lectures using the Metaversity App (메타버시티 앱을 이용한 동영상 강의 만족도 조사)

  • Recently, Metaverse technology has emerged as an important topic in various fields. Metaverse refers to a three-dimensional virtual space in which social and economic activities similar to the real world are possible. Among the 235 third-year students who applied the Metaversity app in the radiology department of this university from September to December 2023, 200 participated in a survey to determine the difference in student response and satisfaction when applying the Metaversity app. analyzed. First, the most satisfactory VOD viewing method was viewing through the Metaversity app, followed by viewing through the LMS. Second, 'I think online videos are appropriate for holiday reinforcement.' showed the highest score at 4.35±0.60, 'I want face-to-face classes and online classes to be held simultaneously.' was 4.25±0.87, and 'I think meta. 'I watched it well through the Metaversity app' was the lowest at 4.10±0.30, and 'VOD viewing through the Metaversity app was used appropriately in class' was the lowest at 3.99±0.75. Also, there was no significant difference in the response to the teaching method (p>0.05). Third, in terms of satisfaction with VOD viewing using the Metaversity app, 'Applying the Metaversity app was interesting and fun' ranked the highest at 4.24±0.88. The score was high, with 'Better improvement is needed to actively utilize the metaversity app' at 4.00±0.45, and 'I hope the metaversity app is implemented in other remote classes' at 3.77±0.88. appear. 'VOD classes through the Metaversity app are better than the existing LMS method.' was found to be 3.44±0.66. Additionally, there was no significant difference in satisfaction with classes according to age and gender (p>0.05). The correlation between response and satisfaction with the metaversity app is 0.601, which can be considered very significant (p>0.001). As a limitation of this study, although we surveyed students' satisfaction with using the Metaversity app, we were unable to investigate the satisfaction of instructors who interact with students. In the future, we did not consider the instructor's satisfaction in classes using the Metaversity app. Research must be conducted, and universities must have institutional support and continued interest until metaversity apps are selected and used to prepare for distance learning.
