This paper introduces a program structure that minimizes the client's business logic by reducing the client's specifications as a way of minimizing the limitations of online game platforms. The objective of this thesis is to design an online game that is based on a 3-tier client/server structure, and thus using this 3-tier structure to ultimately create an online Sutda game that anyone can enjoy. The progression of newly released games is highly based on the mobile market and the number of online games being launched is decreasing. As the mobile game market grows, more and more multi-platform games are being developed and target platforms within online games are greatly diversifying. Through these situations, this thesis minimizes the client's business logic through a 3-tier structure of application-middleware-database, and also proposes an online game client/server that allows three or more users to participate simultaneously through the server.
Online game business has emerged as the most lucrative entertainment industry, with over 10 million players in South Korea and over 30 million in Japan in 2005. The popularity of online games can be attributed to the availability of broadband network, pushing online games into the mainstream entertainment culture. The age distribution of online game players is expanding and a variety of new games are under development to target certain age groups. While the interactive entertainment market continues to expand, with many new online game publishers entering Japan, relatively little is known about which factors influence online game players' behavioral intentions to play continuously in this area. It appears that in this extremely attractive and growing services segment, academics, as well as practitioners, would benefit from investigating the difference, among the types of players, in demographic and social trends, perceptions related to game-design factors, and attitude toward the games. Based on data collected from online questionnaire survey, the differences between hardcore and casual players have been analyzed, and interesting conclusions have been provided concerning the online-game design and development strategies for Japan online-game players.
This paper mainly focused on research developing online game characteristic evaluation system based on game characteristic evaluation model design. Online game characteristic evaluation system is a system that evaluates game online in real-time using evaluation elements defined by model design. Game characteristic evaluation system uses heuristic evaluation method, which is used to execute evaluation in four parts, technical element, manage element, social element, and competitive element. To verify objectivity and validity of game characteristic evaluation, assessment was performed by three groups of beginners, intermediates, and professionals to increase the trust. And game characteristic evaluation forum was hosted to collect opinion from diverse classes.

The purpose of our research is to identify the critical variables and to develop a new methodology for market segmentation of online game market. Our research tested the model with Korean online game users because Korean online game industry is the frontier of global online game industries. Conclusively, the critical variables are the suitability of feedback, the reality of design, the precision of information and the involvement of virtual community. The analysis of segmentation shows that the primary target audiences are positively influenced by the reality of design and the involvement of virtual community. To attract the primary target audiences, online game companies should develop strategies depending on the effectiveness of the variables and the demographic and behavioral characteristics of target audiences.
